This has probably already been tried before, but at least I got what I was thinking on paper - basically a dwarf character with high saves, evasion, mettle and heavy armor. High charisma for no good reason other than to have higher saves but since he can't turn undead we'll throw in a cohort for fun.

Dwarf (Diety Fortubo, Jascar or Ulaa)
Str 14 Dex 14, Con 16, Int 8, Wis 12, Cha 12
1: Monk 1: Dodge, Improved Unarmed Strike, improved grapple
2: Monk 2: Combat Reflexes, Evasion, fast movement
3: Paladin 1: True Believer, Aura, Detect Evil, smite evil 1/day
4: Paladin 2: Divine Grace, lay on hands, +1 Chr
5: Favoured Soul 1:
6: Favoured Soul 2: Leadership
7: Favoured Soul 3: WF(Warhammer)
8: Pious Templar 1: Mettle +Chr
9: Divine Crusader1: Toughness, Mysticism Domain
10: Pious Templar 2: Smite 1/day
11: Divine Crusader2:
12: Pious Templar 3: DR 1/-, WS(Warhammer), Endurance, +1 chr
13: Dwarven Defender 1: Defensive stance 1/day, AC bonus +1
14: Dwarven Defender 2: Uncanny Dodge
15: Dwarven Defender 3: Defensive stance 2/day - ?*

* At this point I assumed he wouldn't be evading often, or would have a ring

Evasion and Heavy Armor don't work so well together.

Unless you plan on buying a Ring of Evasion.

As mentioned before, Monk evasion works only in light or no armor. If you could somehow work 2 levels of Divine Oracle in, that would get you Evasion in heavy armor....Or the Ring...

12 Charisma is not really 'high Charisma.'

Pardon my ignorance, but in what way does CHA help with saves? I would concentrate on the REF, FORT and WILL saves. Also, why waste extra points bringing a Dwarf's CHA back up from his racial penalty?

I'd go with..

STR: 10
DEX: 16
CON: 16
INT: 8
WIS: 15
CHA: 6

Bump WIS up to 16 first, then focus on DEX or CON. Get a Gauntlets of Ogre Power or something later for your STR. Or you could start with 8 STR and 16 WIS if you want a pure outright save monkey.

Pardon my ignorance, but in what way does CHA help with saves?.

Main reason is Paladin divine grace class ability - add your chr bonus to all saves. Favoured Soul & Divine crusader use Chr for spellcasting.

Con 16? Yes, great for hp and for Fort saves, but you may have to sacrifice this high Con if you really want to make a character focused on saves and packing a lot of Cha-based abilities.

Also, you have no odd stats. The level 12 bump to Cha doesn't really mean much to this character. If you had Con 14 and Cha 13, that would bump to 14 just as you get the divine grace ability. And then at 12th level, you would have a 16 instead of a 15.

There's no point in going a Dwarf unless you get the free 16 Con.

and then there was the bug in the old NWN D&D 3.0 computer game that allowed paladin/blackguards to get double charisma to all saves :)

The fullplate character with evasion he can't use isn't actually all that bad of an idea. Usually this would be a dwarven character with a decent con and WAY better hit points and armor class than a comparable character.

Imagine an 18 CON dwarf character. Rogue 1/Fighter 1/Rogue X. He wouldn't have to spend a bunch of extraneous build points on dexterity, in fact he could just go with a 12 or even less. I imagine STR 15, DEX 12, CON 18, INT 14, Wis 8, Cha 6. Overall that would probably be a way better character than your standard rogue. He would have more hit points, a better hit bonus, do more damage, and have a way better armor class than a normal rogue would. Only loss is evasion and being a half sneak attack die behind, which the extra STR covers in full.

His point for taking the dwarf is the racial bonuses to saves.

What, no Deep Warden levels?
