I've seen people putting in paladin 2 for charisma to saves, but do you think that lowers your caster level too much? I guess it would be something like this 1 Monk 1 2 Paladin 1 3 Paladin 2 4 Sorc 1 5 Sorc 2 6 Sorc 3 7 Fist and so on but doesn't that push back Ascetic Mage all the way back to 9th? and would that really be worth it, I mean your saves are going to be good without the charisma bonuses. |

I still reasonably like Monk 2/Sorc 3/Pal 2 - it wouldn't be my first choice, particularly at APL 8, but the Paladin levels mean I'm really about the equivalent of a Monk 5 at 5th, except with better specials and worse wisdom. It does mean sacrificing spellcasting, but I view the character as an improved Monk who happens to cast spells. Rather than a weak caster with a bad Fort Save who shouldn't be on the front line. |
