| crimsonsky05-02-07, 03:19 PM | I wanted a character that can stand in as the party rogue, but I hate playing single class rogues. Race: Human Str 8 Dex 16 Con 14 Int 15 Wis 10 Cha 10 1: Rogue 1 (Fey Heritage, Fey Skin) Sneak Attack +1d6 2: Rogue 2 Evasion 3: Enchanter 1 (Practiced Spellcaster, Scribe Scroll) 4: Rogue 3 Sneak Attack +2d6 5: Enchanter 2 6: Unseen Seer 1 (Fey Power) Sneak Attack +3d6 7: Unseen Seer 2 (Silent Spell) 8: Unseen Seer 3 Divination Spell Power +1 9: Unseen Seer 4 (Unsettling Enchantment) Sneak Attack +4d6 10: Arcane Trickster 1 11: Arcane Trickster 2 Sneak Attack +5d6 12: Arcane Trickster 3 (Spell Focus [Enchantment]) 13: Arcane Trickster 4 Sneak Attack +6d6 14: Arcane Trickster 5 15: Arcane Trickster 6 (Greater Spell Focus [Enchantment]) Sneak Attack +7d6 BAB at Level 15: +9 Base saves at level 15: Fort: +4, Ref: +9, Will: +13 Spell Progession: As Wizard 12 (max 6th level) Caster Level: 15 (Divinations: 16) Suggestions? |

I see the Fey feats as more worthwhile for a charisma-based BDF who'd like to be a little harder to hurt and have some spell-like options. Also, why not start with a 16 Int/15 Dex - at 4th level, you raise Dex to 16, ending up with the same stats either way - except you get 7 free skill points as a result. |

Things will come up to you and attack you or shoot at you from range, especially once they know you are an arcane caster. I suppose I could trade two levels of rogue for two levels of Swashbuckler and take Daring Outlaw at 6th. It would cost me evasion however, so I'm not sure the tradeoff is worth it. I was thinking that I could retrain out Fey Skin for Fey Power at 3rd and then take something else at 6th. |

Things will come up to you and attack you or shoot at you from range, especially once they know you are an arcane caster. But having DR 2/Cold Iron isn't really going to change that. Nor will it stop you from getting dropped. The strongest thing as a caster that you can do is to force people to have to seek you out, hopefully past the party tanks. I suppose I could trade two levels of rogue for two levels of Swashbuckler and take Daring Outlaw at 6th. It would cost me evasion however, so I'm not sure the tradeoff is worth it. Definitely not. Rogue 1/Swashbuckler 2 means you get +2d6 Sneak by taking that feat. Rogue 3 means you get +2d6 Sneak. If you take Weapon Finesse at 6th, it ends up being roughly the same thing. As you can take Master's Touch as a spell, you can pick up proficiency in any finessable weapon you want. It turns into 'do I want an extra 4 hp or an extra 8 skill points+evasion' kind of thing. I'd also strongly suggest fitting Craft Wondrous in somewhere - as early as possible. |
