| Gaelforcwynd01-31-07, 03:17 AM | I am trying to figure out a definate way to be able to take the Contemplative PrC. Does anyone know if it's possible to achieve through the 5th-level Divine spell Commune? Here is all the relevant information I could find. I'm a bit confused about the LGCS entry though. CD REQUIREMENTS Skill: Knowledge (religion) 13 ranks. Spells: Able to cast 1st-level divine spells. Special: Must have had direct contact with one's patron deity or a direct servant of that deity, or with an enlightened being embodying the highest principles of an alignment (a solar, for example). PHB Commune You contact your deity - or agents thereof - and ask questions that can be answered by a simple yes or no.. LGCS 596CY Chapter Five: Sourcebook and Metagame Policy Contemplative: This contact must be specifically listed in an adventure with the god or gods it counts towards or gained through your local triad. Summoned or otherwise magically compelled creatures do not count. A character would need to have at least 10 Cleric levels to fulfill the Knowledge (religion) requirement anyway, so I'm wondering if they could then cast Commune so they can take a level of Contemplative at CL 11. |
| gomeztoo01-31-07, 04:07 AM | You list it yourself: "This contact must be specifically listed in an adventure with the god or gods it counts towards or gained through your local triad." So no, commune doesn't work. Contact your triad, and ask them how you can obtain the proper documentation. Or wait for a mod to give access. |
| paigeoliver01-31-07, 04:17 AM | And it is out there a whole lot. I have one 7th level character who has gotten access to the class 3 or 4 times. |

I wasn't certain if that meant you had to list the event in the AR. So I guess this means that I would need a popular core god as my patron deity. I will ask my triad, in that case. |
| Lupo01-31-07, 04:35 AM | And it is out there a whole lot. I have one 7th level character who has gotten access to the class 3 or 4 times. you forget to mention: most time a character looking for a certain deity or said deity's servants will meet ALL others possible contacts BUT never the one he is looking for :P. not to mention; when one plays several characters, all those who will never go contemplative will meet all kinds of servants of deities :P. apart from a special mission (and be aware that some triads will not hand out contacts to deities they don't see fit for their region :() the best way to find a way into contemplative is to play a serial of modules when one of the first modules heavily is promoting a certain deity or a even better, a conflict between two powers :) ciao martin m. ps: so far i have seen contemplative access to: kelanen, delleb, heironeous, atroa, pholtus, ehlonna (several times) maybe some few more on not so recent ARs. |

Delleb looks interesting, but I'm in Perrenland. :( |
| gomeztoo01-31-07, 10:06 AM | Sounds like you can't go wrong with Joramy then... :P (not that I know of any contemplatives of Joramy) Now, my main Nes as a contemplative of Aasterinian... that would be cool. Not very useful, in fact, not useful at all, but pretty cool... maybe somethin for16th lvl... |

I've seen Contemplative access for Pelor, Pholtus, Wee Jas, Ehlonna and Joramy iirc. |
| Bob_the_Theurge01-31-07, 10:55 AM | Contemplative: This contact must be specifically listed in an adventure with the god or gods it counts towards or gained through your local triad. Summoned or otherwise magically compelled creatures do not count. Check your local triad's documentation. Some triads allow characters who can cast Plane Shift or are high enough level to spend X TU's and XX GP "seeking out" contact to make it into this class. |
| Arvagor01-31-07, 10:32 PM | I've seen Contemplative access for Pelor, Pholtus, Wee Jas, Ehlonna and Joramy iirc.VTF5-06 "Faith and Love" (now retired) had the following favor: Spiritual Enlightenment: The PC has met a solar. While admittedly a little vague, we were told it was sufficient to meet the "enlightened being embodying the highest principles of an alignment" clause for access to the class (and therefore allowing a worshipper of any deity access into the class) ... |
| Japangirl01-31-07, 11:03 PM | Why would meeting a solar embody the highest principles of, well, any deity who isn't LG. Joramy, Garl Glittergond, Gendwar Argrim (sp?), Kelanen, all of those deities don't really embody solar principles. Even if it is the case that the favor provides access to all Contemplatives, I doubt that many deities would really approve of solars that much. If, you know, D&D weren't just a game and the gods actually did exist. |
| Arvagor01-31-07, 11:12 PM | Why would meeting a solar embody the highest principles of, well, any deity who isn't LG.Sorry, I thought I typed "good" in my last response, but I see I didn't  Solars reside on "Any good-aligned plane", so they would work for any deity who is good (not just lawful good) -- so Garl Glittergold, yes; Gendwar Argrim, no ... |
| Japangirl01-31-07, 11:34 PM | Ah yes, that's right. I did forget they are for all good deities and planes. Still no access to comtemplative of Kuroth though :(. |
| paigeoliver02-01-07, 12:53 AM | Somewhere in my AR stacks I have a module that gives access to contemplative regardless of the deity worshiped. It says something like "Agents of your deity visit you in your dreams, you qualify for the contemplative prestige class". I am almost certain it is a retired module, as I think it was something I played on a trip out of town, and I have mostly only played year 5 modules on out of town trips. |

Not very useful, in fact, not useful at all, but pretty cool... maybe somethin for16th lvl... my Gendwar badlands dwarf got joramy contemplative offered .. and may yet atone to joramy if he ever gets in the mood as joramy is a bright sands deity and gendwar is not shortly after that he got offered a free atonement to kelanen as well :) but so far he is steadfastly faithful .. afterall if you are doomed anyway does it really matter who you follow ? |

Yeah, I saw that in a Yeomanry mod of stupid broken access. |
| clannagh02-01-07, 01:15 AM | Yeah, I saw that in a Yeomanry mod of stupid broken access. There is a perrenland mod that really SHOULD give you contemplative to any deity in the old kerk, you pretty much fulfill requirements in the mod .. but its not noted on the AR that way so it does not count. |
| Frumpkis02-04-07, 07:47 AM | My 7th-lvl cleric of Lendor is looking to become a Contemplative, but has yet to come across access in a module (I wonder why, given Lendor's portfolio ;)). I'll most likely be requesting a special mission for it, just to see what a Lendorian special mission would look like. :D |
