| LachlarlanIII03-08-07, 12:22 PM | I have a strong inclination to play this character in the Greyhawk Ruins metacampaign. Race: Gnome Abilities: Str 13, Dex 14, Con 16, Int 10, Wis 14, Cha 8 1: Fighter 1 - Combat Focus, *Weapon Focus (Longsword) 2: Fighter 2 - *Dodge 3: Fighter 3 - Combat Stability 4: Fighter 4 - *Weapon Specialization (Longsword), Str 14 5: Fighter 5 6: Fighter 6 - Combat Defense, *Titan Fighting 7: Fighter 7 8: Fighter 8 - *Melee Weapon Mastery (Slashing), Str 15 9: Fighter 9 - Power Attack 10: Fighter 10 - *Mobility 11: Fighter 11 12: Fighter 12 - Elusive Target, *Greater Weapon Focus (Longsword), Str 16 13: Fighter 13 14: Fighter 14 - *Greater Weapon Specialization (Longsword) 15: Fighter 15 - Slashing Flurry This build plus Combat Expertise (if I rearrange my stats) and Deadly Defense sounds nasty. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could drop in favor of both or either? |
| Alpha_Nerd03-08-07, 12:28 PM | What part of the build do you like best? If you like the Combat Defense/Elusive Target awesomeness stick with that but push Elusive up as early as possible. If you like the Gnome aspect I'd go with Fighter 10/Blade Bravo 5 for Size Advantage ridiculousness. |
| LachlarlanIII03-08-07, 12:41 PM | Well, as the build is mine from a previous (now buried) post, I like it exactly as it is. At 15th it this build does decent damage with very good attack bonuses. +30/+25/+20 to hit for 1d6+13 damage. Can PA for 10 and still be +20 to hit with the primary swing. With Deadly Defense, I can fight defensively to get +1d6 damage. I don't think I can fit Combat Expertise into the build without losing too much. (ability scores and feats) The current build, while in Combat Focus can also get +5 Dodge bonus to AC as an immediate action against any opponent larger than himself. (which is going to be most of them) I'm thinking I could drop GWF and GWS but then I lose +1 to hit and +2 damage in exchange for an average +3 damage when fighting defensively. |
| Alpha_Nerd03-08-07, 12:49 PM | I agree with dropping GWF and GWS, I just don't think they do enough without Weapon Supremecy. If I was to build this character, I'd try to pick up both Elusive Target and Combat Defense at 6th, they're just so awesome together. 1: Fighter 1 - Combat Focus, Dodge 2: Fighter 2 - Power Attack 3: Fighter 3 - Combat Stability 4: Fighter 4 - Mobility, Str 14 5: Fighter 5 6: Fighter 6 - Combat Defense, Elusive Target 7: Fighter 7 8: Fighter 8 - Titan Fighting, Str 15 9: Fighter 9 - Weapon Focus: Warhammer 10: Fighter 10 - Weapon Specialization: Warhammer 11: Fighter 11 12: Fighter 12 - Melee Weapon Mastery (Bludgeoning), Brutal Strike Str 16 13: Fighter 13 14: Fighter 14 - Crushing Strikes 15: Barbarian 1 - Extra Rage I really like Crushing Strikes more than Slashing Flurry, and I think a Warhammer is more Gnome-y. Your build works great though. |
