Always loved gnomes illusionist and tried to build one. So far it seem pretty decent but i'm still looking at some feats, esp higher level ones.

The build focus on Shadow evocation and shadow conjuration to summon and deal some damage with a virtually infinite spell list. The DC of my will disblief are pretty high (thanks to Master spec). Of course i wont do as much front load damage as a mage or a warmage but illusion is filled with a lot of great utility spells (Greater invisibility !!)

STR 6 (racial-2)
Dex 14
Con 16 (racial +2)
Int 16
Wis 8
Cha 14

1.Wiz 1 : Spell Focus (illusion)
2.Wiz 2
3.Wiz 3 : Craft Wonderous item
4.Master Specialist 1 : Skill focus spellcraft (stat boost int)
5.M.Spec 2
6.M.Spec 3 : Greater Spell focus/Highten spell
7.M.Spec 4
8.Shadowcraft Mage (RS) (stat boost int)
9.SCM 2 ???
10.SCM 3
11.SCM 4
12.SCM 5 ??? (stat boost int)
13.M.Spec 5
14.M.Spec 6
15.M.Spec 7

The thing is that after level 6 i seriously have no clue what to get. Shadow craft mage gives me Still and extend on all my illusion spell (which are pretty much all my spells btw :)). I wanted Dazzling illusion but its falling under NoNc meaning that im probably screwed for that feat.

I'm pretty sure Master Specialist is a closed PrC.

Here are a couple things I could see being done with a shadowcraft mage.

Two feats could be put towards Earth Sense and Earth Spell, seeing as you are planning to take Heighten Spell anyways. Of course, this assumes that you haven't begun the character yet, seeing as they both need 13 wisdom. You could easily get that by swapping Charisma and Wisdom around.

Another good feat would be Extraordinary Concentration, seeing as a couple of the good illusion spells have a concentration duration and it doesn't hurt. Probably not too needed due to the extended illusion duration for the Shadowcraft Mage, though.

Other feats can fit, like Improved Initiative, Greyhawk Method (depends on where you are), other metamagics like Empower, Quicken, or Sculpt Spell and so on.

A good alternative prestige class could be something like Fatespinner, even though that's really something more for ending the character. Nothing stopping you from just being an illusionist until you get to Shadowcraft Mage. Just don't lose caster levels and get into Shadowcraft Mage in a timely fashion and you should be just fine in the long run.

Well seeing how you are getting spell focus, maybe you oughta look into meta magic school focus (complete mage). If you get it in illusion it will reduce the cost of adding your heighten spells by 1 slot.

I wanted to keep an high charisma to back up my bluff (maxed as Shadowcraft mage got in as Class skill). The character is a trickster.
I just had a flash, wasnt there a feat that was making a spell look like another one ? So my shadow evocation/conjuration looks like the actual version of the spell ?

The argument for being able to use Arcane Disciple to use Shadow Illusion to mimic a spell not on the Sorceror/Wizard spell list is somewhat spurious.

The Shadow Illusion ability specifically states that you can "use the altered spell to mimic any sorceror or wizard conjuration (summoning), conjuration (creation), or evocation spell... etc."

Arcane Disciple clearly states "Add the chosen domain's spells to your class list of Arcane spells."

Just because a spell is in your class list of arcane spells and you happen to be a sorceror/wizard does NOT make it A sorceror or wizard spell as described under the entry for Shadow Illusion.

Additionally, using this mechanic (or attempting to) will be a VERY quick way of getting the prestige class moved to the closed list altogether.

This could potentially spark an endless argument, but needless to say, you should expect ETV with this - and it may not be worthwhile to spend the feat and have it not be allowed. I've had this discussion with numerous seasoned judges, each one of which has stated he would never in a million years allow this to be used at one of his tables.
