| UMiskatonic05-14-07, 07:11 PM | I like the following: 1: Point Blank 3: Precise Shot 6: Empower Spell 9: Craft Arms & Armor 12: ??? You'll find a number of other threads on warmages if you look. This isn't a new topic for this forum. |
| Genghis Cohen05-14-07, 07:19 PM | If I was building such a beast, I'd take Point Blank Shot at 1st and Precise Shot at 3rd. You want be able to get those orbs to hit. My 6th level feat would be Empower Spell, and my 9th would be Sudden Maximize. What would my 12th and 15th level feats be? That would be at least two years away. Who knows what will be available. Extra Edge is tempting, but I think that the opportunity cost is too high with a dem-human build. Beware of Improved Initiative. Striking first puts a bullseye on your forehead. When you do win initiative, think about readying an action to strike an enemy spellcaster. |

| tlotig05-16-07, 08:10 AM | I am actually a fan of spell focus conjuration and greater spell focus conjuration for a war mage make the save or be messed up effects on the orbs a little better plus works on a few others blast of flame arc lightning clould kill oh and fire seeds (the halfling rein of terror is coming) |

But in practice I think that this is too pricy featwise and that for the most part you will want to focus on metamagic feats. -James |
| delewobmesid05-16-07, 02:07 PM | I rarely miss with my orbs without percise shot; mind you I frequently Magic Missle when there is a log jam of characters in from of me; I've found extra edge to be useful to me, but I also don't have a maxed out charisma and an int of 16 (+2 headband); it has more to do with how you play your warmage; meta magic is something I need to get into my warmage, but I manage without it. |

What level are you? Extra Edge is superb at 1st level, good to about level 6 and essentially worthless by 12th. Simlarly most Metamagic won't be used until about 6th and Empower at least is essential* by 8th. Nonlethal Substitution gives you an important option that you simply don't have without it. Rapid Metamagic at 9th and Quicken by 12th also set an extremely high bar for other options. * well not quite essential: you can contribute without it but having it will be strictly better than at least one of your Feats and probably all of them. |
| delewobmesid05-18-07, 02:52 PM | What level are you? This was the second LG character I made;Gnome Warmage 9/Bard 1, 10,14,16,14,8,14, PB,Practiced Caster,Leadership,Extra Edge; Not an optimal build by any stretch (and I have not leveled with him since retraining came into play); Due to his high hit points I can play him with a devil may care attitude (until the first maximized orb of fire any way) and he has pretty good versitility for me; most game are 'I orb of force it' repeated over and over...but combat is usually over within a few rounds any how... |
