Thought of an interesting combination for Gray Guard:

Race:Human
Alignment:Lawful Good

STR-14 (6)
DEX-10 (2)
CON-14 (6)
INT-10 (2)
WIS-14 (6)
CHA-14 (6)

Lv1(Paladin)Combat Focus, Blind-Fight
Lv2(Paladin)
Lv3(Paladin)Power Attack
Lv4(Paladin)+1 STR
Lv5(Paladin)
Lv6(Gray Guard)Divine Vigor/Divine Might
Lv7(Gray Guard)
Lv8(Gray Guard)+1 STR
Lv9(Gray Guard)Combat Vigor
Lv10(Gray Guard)
Lv11(Gray Guard)
Lv12(Gray Guard)Combat Awareness, +1 STR
Lv13(Gray Guard)
Lv14(Gray Guard)
Lv15(Gray Guard)Divine Armor

Basically it's to combine Combat Awareness with Devastating Touch. You whittle a bad guy down with your attacks, then when he's low enough, use Devastating Touch to deal damage equal to his current HP+1 for guaranteed KO as long as they are evil...will save for half if they aren't...Ends up with 75 points of lay on hands ability, assuming a +6 Cloak of Charisma. Divine Vigor, Combat Vigor, and Divine Armor give some endurance in combat. Thought it might be fun...

You know, it strikes me that Gray Guard might make a good grappler build.

And paladin 5 doesn't seem ideal. You don't seem to want that special mount very much.

How about fighter 1/paladin 4?

Eh, I like Paladin 5 for the extra smite and lay on hands. Also, it's needed in order to qualify for Divine Armor by level 15, unless you take practiced Spellcaster, and even then, I'm not sure if that qualifies you officially speaking...
