I'm probably going to change my mind and play a kobold unseen seer for the Greyhawk Ruins arc, but am unsure as to how to best qualify.

I'm currently stuck between Rogue 3/ Beguiler 2 and Rogue 3/ Sorcerer 2.

I plan on taking the kobold rogue substitution levels.

I would like to take Craft Wonderous Item, but as a beguiler, I won't have the spells to make it worthwhile, and as a sorcerer, I won't have the same spell selection I would as a beguiler but I also won't have the skill selection either.

Or, should I just scrap the spontaneous caster levels altogether and go wizard instead?

Thanks!

In either case, don't forget about UMD for crafting - I'd go Rogue 3/Sorcerer 2/Unseen Seer 10 - you're losing 8 skill points and 2 hp, but you get a much, much better spell list to pick from. Sure, you don't have all the spells, but you don't really need them all that much.

Unfortunately, without the skill points, I don't think I can even qualify for Unseen Seer unless I enter it after 6th level.

If I did my math right, I would have to buy an 18 Int or 17 Int and bump it to 18 at 4th. That doesn't leave many points for other abilities.

Say what? Just alternate. Even with a 10 Int, the following happens...
Rogue 1 = 4 points in Search, Spot, Sense Motive, Hide - 16 points left.
Sorc 1 = 2 points into Spellcraft
Rogue 2 = 2 points each into Search, Spot, Hide. 2 points left.
Sorc 2 = 2 points into Spellcraft
Rogue 3 = 2 points each into Search, Spot, Hide. 2 points left.

This is of course assuming you don't abuse retraining or have higher than a 10 Int...

Ahh. I think my problem was trying to fit in other necessary rogue skills too (I think they're necessary anyway)

I think I'm going to go with Str 6, Dex 16, Con 13, Int 14, Wis 8, Cha 14 and stay away from spells with saves.

As for feats, should I focus on metamagics (now that Metamagic Specialist is open for GHR characters), or should I go with ranged focused feats like PBS and Precise Shot?

I'd go with the ranged feats. Since you're not a full caster, you won't get quite as much juice out of metamagic.

With rogue levels, you WILL be able to sneak attack with ranged touch spells, which is really nice. Makes things like acid splash useful if you're desperate.
