| control freak07-18-07, 11:11 PM | all right i have recently gotten an idea in my head that a halfling barbarian/fighter on a rideing dog would be fun because i would be 3 feet tall charge forward and smash the frount guy but the question is, does the ablity to deal TONS of damage in 1 hit over ride the 2 hits you get at level 6 and 3 at 11, as you dont lose the to hit, but you full power attack (for x3 so should be ok) heres what i have so far 16 14 14 8 10 8 Barb1 : Extra rage ftr1: mounted combat ftr2: ride by, spirited charge ftr3: ftr4: power attack after that i havent got any idea other then possibly reckless rage |

| control freak07-19-07, 12:49 AM | Halfing Outrider perchance ? no i didnt want to invest the feat, but the hospitaler is a interesting idea its an extra bonus feat so i will investigate (atm im glutted with feats what are some good ones for mounted characters) and as for halfling outrider, i only made it small so i could dungon crawl with it (stupid 5 ft hallways grumble grumble) |

Also, as Bitz said, you're going to want to get a sturdier mount somehow. One possible method would be to pick up a level of beastmaster to get an animal companion you can use as a mount (I'd probably go with a wolf. It's not as strong as a riding dog, but it has better movement and should still be strong enough to carry you), then go into one of the mounted PrCs that will continue to advance it (Halfling Outrider and Wild Plains Outrider are the two most obvious choices). If you still have extra feats laying around, Natural Bond would help beef up this animal companion as well. |
| Gwumph07-19-07, 03:05 AM | Although i am baised, The ONE BIG HIT is usually the battle stopper. Case in point. Last week our party fought a beastie that DR10 and we didn't have the right type of weapons. (our party was average lv 7) our Front line raging Barb/Fighter was taking 3 swings a round (hasted) and connecting with an good number. We also had a couple of other people swinging. All told in 2 rounds the party did almost 50 points damage after DR with all their attacks combined. At the top of the 3rd round my Halfling (Dwarf :D ) Paladin Charged. I hit and did 87+3d6 points of damage. After taking off DR, I still did almost 90 points damage, with a single hit. Which is double what the rest of the party did with 2 rounds of multiple attacks. Now you don't get a charge every encounter, but u usually get one every mod. As for your question on another thread about massive damage roll. If you hit it, it usually dies!! so that doesn't really matter. BTW: my charge killed the beastie with 4 point to spare...very very close:eek: Cheers Gwumph |
