| Alpha_Nerd02-12-07, 03:45 PM | Ok, so druids get a rebuild. My Halfling Outrider is currently Druid 1/Fighter 1 which techinically means he gets a rebuild. I've decided not to abuse this and to keep the character on the same route, I just want to post his build and make sure I'm not messing anything up before I can't change that much. Halfling Druid 3/Fighter 2/Beastmaster 1/Hospitaler 1/Halfling Outrider 8 STR 14 DEX 12 CON 15 INT 10 WIS 14 CHA 8 1 Druid: Mounted Combat 2 Fighter: Power Attack 3 Fighter: Ride-By attack, Skill Focus: Handle Animal 4 Druid: STR +1 5 Druid 6 Beastmaster: Spirited Charge 7 Hospitaler: Mounted Archery 8 Halfling Outrider: STR +1 9 Halfling Outrider: Improved Bullrush 10 Halfling Outrider 11 Halfling Outrider 12 Halfling Outrider: CON +1, Cometary Collision or Shock Trooper 13 Halfling Outrider 14 Halfling Outrider 15 Halfling Outrider: Cometary Collision or Shock Trooper +14 BAB Fort +12 Ref: +9 Will: +5 AC Bonus: +4 Effective Druid Level for Animal Companion: 15 I think the classes/feats are pretty well set in stone, but the stats are up in the air. The 10 INT is so after I get the 8 ranks in handle animal I can keep Ride, Spot, and Listen maxed. With 8 ranks and Skill Focus: Handle Animal I get a 20 when taking 10, which I think will be plenty. I picked up a 15 CON because it would be really hard to get a 15 STR (14 CON + 13 WIS) but I guess it would be do-able. So, what do you guys think? |

Because I think the feat is hilarious and being able to charge through rough terrain and allies makes it much more effective. Also, would my mount have to have the feat or would my character have to? |

Depends on who's doing the attack after the charge. |
| Alpha_Nerd02-13-07, 01:58 PM | That brings up another question. A lance specifically gives a character 10ft reach, but my dog can only reach 5ft. If I charge with a ride-by attack, would I hit it from 10 ft away, my dog moves in 5 ft and does his charge attack, then ride past him? Also, if I do a ride-by attack, would the creature be able to hit me if I end my charge out of his reach? If both of us are allowed to attack I would assume I need the feats for him aswell? |

I know I've seen this before somewhere, but I think your dog would not get an attack because of the reach, as it's you making the Ride-by-attack, not the dog. |

| Alpha_Nerd02-13-07, 05:39 PM | What if I do a standard charge? Do we both get to attack? |
| ZX67002-13-07, 05:40 PM | What if I do a standard charge? Do we both get to attack? So long as you are wielding a non-reach weapon, yes. |
| Alpha_Nerd02-13-07, 05:42 PM | Do Small Lances give reach? |
| Tahldrehlian02-14-07, 05:03 PM | Do Small Lances give reach? Yes. Also, you may want to check out the Wild Plains Outrider class out of Complete Adventurer. It gives some great abilities over it's 3 levels... most notably a speed boost and the ability to make a full attack after a single move. |
