Hi,

Looking for some more good advice on character builds - this one is intended as a primary cork, with solid melee damage. I've only got level 1 set, but could easily retrain the feat.

Dwarf, cleric of Moradin (war/strength)
St 15, Dx 14, Cn 16, In 10, Ws 14, Ch 6
Needs access to Dwarven Cleric and dwarvencraft items.

This first build tries to balance some divine casting ability.
1. Cleric 1 (to become Dwarven Cleric) wpn focus, endurance
2. Cleric 2
3. Cleric 3 CWI
4. Cleric 4 (Dwarven Cleric 4)
5. Cleric 5
6. Cleric 6 true believer
7. Cleric 7
8. Battlesmith 1 craft ma&a
9. Pious Templar 1 practiced spellcaster
10. Pious Templar 2
11. Pious Templar 3 wpn specialization
12. Cleric 8 melee wpn mastery
At his point he should have at least a Str 20/Wis 20 and, assuming a +3 warhammer, have +21/+16 melee attack 1d8+19 damage. [avg 47]
13. to 15. More Cleric Levels...? Power Attack

The second goes the two weapon fighting route and sacrifices a fair amount of clerical ability and shield AC for somewhat better damage output.
1. Cleric 1 (to become Dwarven Cleric) wpn focus, endurance
2. Cleric 2
3. Cleric 3 CWI
4. Cleric 4 (Dwarven Cleric 4) +1 Dx to 15
5. Fighter 1 two weapon fighting
6. Fighter 2 oversized two weapon fighting, true believer
7. Pious Templar 1
8. Battlesmith 1 craft ma&a
9. Pious Templar 2 practiced spellcaster
10. Pious Templar 3 wpn specialization
11. Pious Templar 4 melee wpn mastery
At this point he should have at least a Str 20/Wis 18 and, assuming a pair of +3 warhammers, have +19/+14 melee attack 1d8+18 damage & +19 melee attack 1d8+15 damage. [avg. 64.5]
12 to 15. ??? ?? power attack / improved buckler defense / that hammering blows feat (PHB2)

I know it may limit the overall effectiveness, but I like having the combo of CWI and CMA&A so he can "gear up." With the damage bonus for Dw Cleric 4, weapon spec/mastery, battlesmith 1 and possible self buffs, he should be a sufficient threat with damage bonuses that can apply in many/most situations. He will probably not be able to max out his AC...

Thanks!

This was discussed not too long ago in a thread I posted with a similar idea:

Essentially, the consensus was that TWF combined with a Battlesmith that takes advantage of the various warhammer damage bonuses has potential for very high damage, but the costs outweigh the benefits in the end.

However, you're welcome to give it a go. I currently have a 2nd level Dwarf PC that is building off of some of the concepts in my original post, but I have given up on TWF.

My advice is to consider this build: Cleric15. It's not as flashy looking or as complex sounding... but I think it will offer you more in the long run.

Thanks; that's a better 2 wpn build. Maybe I should stick with the single weapon...

I have a full caster progression cleric (although somewhat suboptimal stormlord route), so I wanted to try something of a holy warrior/half caster.
