Hey all,

Healer is now approved, but Healer 16 probably isn't the best you can do. So let's think about what you can do with Healer. Categories will include:

Super-healers

Healer-clerics

Healer-multiclass

1) Healer 16

Simple, to the point. Uses Augment Healing, of course.

2) Healer 11/Combat Medic 5

Nice combo, and the healing kickers compliment the healing hands nicely. Need access, though

1) Healer 10/Contemplative 5

Grab a domain, can't hurt (not healing)

2) Healer 10/Master of Radiance 5

You've got the knowledge skills, but need access, and a way to meet the other pre-requisites. Doesn't give Turn undead, but adds considerable offensive punch.

There are a lot of good ways to go here. Any class which uses charisma could benefit some, like bard, marshal, paladin, hexblade, knight, sorceror, warmage. Often, the healer benefits won't be worth the loss of BaB/caster levels, but this might be okay as a dip for support characters like bards or marshals.

1) Monk 2/Healer 4/Sacred Fist might be okay. Your weapon and armor abilities are sub-par anyway, so why not drop them in favor of better saves, better AC, evasion, and the occasional unarmed strike.

Spring attack could go a long way with this build, both on offense, and for healing in dangerous areas.

#1) Healer 8/Hospitaler 7 should give decent spellcasting, and makes good use of that unicorn as a mount.

Healer 10/Combat Medic 5 (if you can get access) is what I just came up with :D

Race:Human
Alignment:Neutral Good

STR-8 (0)
DEX-14 (6)
CON-14 (6)
INT-10 (2)
WIS-15 (8)
CHA-14 (6)

Lv1(Healer)Spontaneous Healer, Augment Healing
Lv2(Healer)
Lv3(Healer)Ritual Blessing
Lv4(Healer)+1 WIS
Lv5(Healer)
Lv6(Healer)Magic Disruption
Lv7(Healer)
Lv8(Healer)+1 WIS
Lv9(Healer)Magic Sensitive
Lv10(Healer)
Lv11(Healer)
Lv12(Healer)Magic of the Land, +1 WIS
Lv13(Contemplative)
Lv14(Contemplative)
Lv15(Contemplative)Feat

Pretty straightforward....Healer 12 for Lamassu companion. Magic Disruption lets you annoy spellcasters, and Spontaneous Healer, Augment Healing, Ritual Blessing, and eventually Magic of the Land all improve basic healing capability. Magic Sensitive gives you free detect magic as long as you've got a 3rd level or higher divination...

If you grab the Good domain with Contemplative and maybe the Well Read feat (can't remember which Knowledge skills Healers get), you can qualify for Sacred Exorcist, which grants turning and thus opens up the divine feats at L12+. Just a thought :)

If you can net Sacred Exorcist and Contemplative, you could, theoretically, get a Healer into Radiant Servant. Har har.

I think one of the best ways to improve upon the healer class is to tack on domains. The existing healer spell list is woefully short.

Let's see, off the top of my head, there's contemplative, sacred exorcist, seeker of the misty isle, warpriest, church inquisitor...

But I should really go to work, anyone want to take a crack at these?

I think Rejuvenating Coccoon qualifies you for Force Needle too, doesn't it?

Good Call!

Monk 6/Healer 2/Sacred Fist 7 isn't terrible in melee.

No it doesn't. It's a Conjuration (Healing) spell. You are thinking of ENVELOPING Coccoon, a 6th level Druid spell, which is an Evocation (Force) spell qualifying you for Invisible Needle.

Sure - elven, LG

go into church inqusitor as soon as possible, dip into seeker of the misty isle as soon as you can, pick up Completative when you hit 10th, getting the good domain, which gives you access to sacred exorcist(because of the good domain spells) and Warpriest (ditto). Chuck in divine oracle while you're at it - everyone else does....

Not sure it really helps though. You only get one domain spell per level per day, and without contemplative (for which you need access), it all kinda falls apart.

Can anyone do anything interesting with a healer in a mystic theurge build?

Healers can't get into church inquisitor, no zone of truth. Seeker is a good idea, but I don't know if they have survival, in which case it will take them a while to get in.

Healer 3/Sorcerer 4/Mystic Theurge 8 works out to have 6th level spells in both arcane and divine.

You could also replace Sorcerer with Warmage, but that puys dependancy on int, wis and cha.

There's not really any reason to play a Mystic Theurge healer, when a Sorceror 15 with Arcane Disciple: Healing can do all that and more. Mystic Theurge is generally taken for additional versatility, and Healer ain't that.

Healer is one of very few classes that I think is better by itself than it is when multiclassed, even into a prestige class. The real strength of the Healer class comes from its companion, and no PrC allows that to advance.

I've been kicking this one around a lot, and due to the limited spell list, as well as how it can't dump for Cure spells...

Cleric > Healer.

The Unicorn seems the big draw. If I were that excited about it, I'd probably just tart up a female paladin and feel out the triad on a special mission.

I changed my mind from my earlier post. There is a prestige class that should almost be required for Healers, but they can't take it until level 14. At that point, a level of Hierophant from the DMG would be well worth it to get Faith Healing.
