hi there,

I'm looking for some help to find a way to advance my character.

Since I tend to design characters based on a background story, more than stat effectiveness, a lot of my characters tend to get hopelessly broken by the time they reach lvl 5+, so I figure it's time to talk to the experts.

This is what the character has so far:

Human CG
lvl 1/1 Favored soul of Kord/Barbarian

str 14
dex 14
con 12
int 10
wis 12
cha 14

feats: endurance, die-hard

the role of the character tends to be the party reserve since she can do decent combat, has some healing in the pocket and doesn't do too bad in the diplomacy-game.

at this point I personally see the following options but they are not set in stone (and featwise with the dawn of LGCS Y597 I've totally no clue where to take her next (with the exception of iron will for holy avenger in option 2)

option 1:

lvl1 favored soul (endurance, diehard)
lvl2 barbarian
lvl3 barbarian
lvl4 barbarian
lvl5 favored soul
lvl6 favored soul
lvl7 favored soul
lvl8 favored soul
lvl9 favored soul
lvl10 divine crusader
lvl11 divine crusader
lvl12 divine crusader
lvl13 divine crusader
lvl14 divine crusader
lvl15 divine crusader

option 2:

lvl1 Favored Soul (endurance, diehard)
lvl2 Barbarian
lvl3 Favored Soul (iron will)
lvl4 Favored Soul
lvl5 Favored Soul
lvl6 Barbarian
lvl7 Holy Liberator
lvl8 Holy Liberator
lvl9 Holy Liberator
lvl10 Holy Liberator
lvl11 Holy Liberator
lvl12 Holy Liberator
lvl13 Holy Liberator
lvl14 Holy Liberator
lvl15 Holy Liberator

so, if anybody has any suggestions or nifty combinations to expand or improve on this character?

I'd start with the Barbarian level for hit points and skill points.

well, that's the thing, the character already has ARs under her belt and started out as favored soul. I'm looking for a way to 'make the most of it' so to say :)

Where's this "Holy Avenger" class? Do you mean Holy Liberator?

Well, here goes...

1) Retrain your feats, there are MUCH better options out there.

2) If you are going to be a barbarian who casts buff spells, then you don't need high spell DCs. That said, you'll want to be able to cast high level spells. You'll unfortunately need more wisdom. That makes an amulet of CON unlikely. That's too bad.

On the whole, I think you would be better off with an INT of 8, and a DEX of 10, and more Str and Con.

3) You can make up for poor stats with the right choices of spells. Take things like Divine Favor, Bull Strength, Divine Power as soon as you can.

4) The barbarian of Kord is the diplomat? Huh?

5) Take extra rage. That way, you'll need fewer barbarian levels. Get into a prestige class as soon as possible.

6) Take power attack, prefereably as a 1st level feat.

7) Use a two handed weapon, so you can cast and power attack at maximum effectiveness. Greatsword is Kord's weapon, isn't it?
