Well, now that I have my Greyhawk Ruins character ready, now I need a lvl 1 for Scourge of the Howling Horde. I've always wanted a Holy Liberator, I think it would be an awesome rp class. (It also has an AWESOME third level ablity). So, anyone have any good builds for one?

I think the major thing is to add as much charisma synergy as possible:
Outcast Champion 2-5
Marshal 1-3
Cleric 1(Nobility Domain/Divine Might)
Rogue 1-3

Then top off with
Barbarian 1(with Extra Rage feat)
Fighter 1-4

So Barbarian 1/Cleric 1/Fighter 4/Outcast Champion 3/Holy Liberator 6 as an example:
Half-Elf
Str 15, Dex 10, Con 14, Int 10, Wis 12, Cha 14
1: Barbarian 1: Extra Rage
2: Cleric 1: Nobility, Luck(Kord)
3: Fighter 1: Power Attack, Divine Might
4: Fighter 2: WF: Greatsword: Str 16
5: Fighter 3
6: Fighter 4: WS: Greatsword, Iron Will
7: Outcast Champion 1
8: Outcast Champion 2: Cha 15
9: Holy Liberator 1: Melee Weapon Mastery(Slashing)
10: Holy Liberator 2
11: Holy Liberator 3
12: Holy Liberator 4: ?: Cha 16
13: Holy Liberator 5
14: Holy Liberator 6
15: Outcast Champion 3

That gives you a bunch of options for doing a lot of damage.

It depends what all you want from it. I would strongly suggest that you have sufficient wisdom to cast as a neck slot for a periapt won't be an option and the holy liberator spells are very good.

The charisma component to the class is very useful as well and can make for quite a saves build.

Basically you need to ask yourself what all is appealing and make sure you keep that intact.

The prerequisites for this class include BAB +5, 5 ranks of Diplomacy and Sense Motive, and Iron Will. The 5 ranks requires 7 levels, unless you take a class making both skills class skills.

I think Swashbuckler now allows you to get Diplomacy and Sense Motive as class skills, allowing a PC to get into Holy Liberator at 6th level without being an ex-paladin. Alternate builds can include 2 to 4 levels of rogue, providing both skills, or 3 levels of cleric (Pact domain offers Sense Motive as a class skill, but does not match with the CG alignment). I think 2 or 4 levels of Marshal would also work.

For the cost of a feat, you can add a level of Pious Templar, which will stack well, because you're likely building to cast Holy Liberator spells.

I like the idea of stacking Charisma-based classes, but it will take a while to benefit from the Holy Liberator's divine grace.

Some entries, then, could be:

Sws1/Ftr4
Mar2/Ftr4
Rog2/Ftr4
Rog4/Bbn2
Bbn2/Clr3/Ftr1/Pious Templar1
Bbn2/Ftr4/Rgr1

I have a holy liberator that has been through many rebuilds over the years. I sort of drifted into what he is now, trying to keep the core of an idea from 3.0. He was going to be a shield bashing type, who would pump in his turn attempts for a Divine Shield feat... back when Divine Shield added bonuses to AC and to weapon... and back when Holy Liberator turned undead. With the 3.5 update, I kept the shield fighting aspect... I had sunk a ton of gp into it after all.

Str 15
Dex 12
Con 14
Int 8
Wis 12
Cha 14

1st Ranger 1; (Power Attack, Imp. Shield Bash, Track) Favored enemy: evil outsider
2nd Ranger 2; (TWF)
3rd Ranger 3; (Iron Will, Endurance)
4th ex-Monk 1; (Imp. Unarmed Strike, Stunning Fist) (+1 Str)
5th ex-Monk 2; (Deflect Arrows)
6th Barbarian 1; (Shield Charge) Rage, fast movement
7th Holy Liberator 1; Detect evil, smite evil 1/day
8th Holy Liberator 2; (+1 Cha) Remove fatigue
9th Holy Liberator 3; (Shield Slam) Aura of resolve
10th Fighter 1; (Close Quarters Fighting)
11th Holy Liberator 4; Break enchantment 1/week, divine grace
12th Holy Liberator 5; (Leadership) (+1 Cha) Smite evil 2/day
13th Holy Liberator 6; Celestial companion
14th Holy Liberator 7; For the 4th level spells, esp. freedom of movement, death ward, sacred haven, and holy sword
15th Fighter 2; (Weakening Touch, Two-Weapon Pounce)

With all that said and done, including his stat items, his ability scores are now.

Str 20
Dex 16
Con 18
Int 12
Wis 18
Cha 20

His saves, including his vest of resistance +4, are

Fort +29 (+31 raging)
Ref +20
Will +21 (+23 raging)

Not optimal by any measure. But he is fun to play. Evasion, Aura of Resolve, ... he's not afraid of much. Prismatic walls aren't so much a barrier. ;)

With a adamantine spiked heavy shield as his primary weapon, he still likes to cast spells (esp. righteous fury, get access to this one!). Paladin spells are good ones and having an open hand is important and the open hand is still useful with the monk levels, Stunning Fist, Weakening Touch, Deflect Arrows, Improved Unarmed Strike and some damage, or grab the shield with both hands for two-handed Power Attack, then let go.

He's different, and if anything this gives you an idea of what you can do, like building an insane saving throw guy.

I actually have come up with two builds, both of which I think will work, but I'm not sure which to choose.

First Build (This a revision of Mommy's build)

Half Elf

Str 15 (8)
Dex 10 (2)
Con 14 (6)
Int 10 (2)
Wis 12 (4)
Cha 14 (6)

Lvl 1: Barbarian 1 Feat: Extra Rage
Lvl 2: Marshal 1 Aura: Motivate Cha
Lvl 3: Marshal 2 Aura: To hit Feat: Iron Will
Lvl 4: Fighter 1 Boost: STR Feat: Power Attack
Lvl 5: Cleric of Kord 1
Lvl 6: Outcast Champion 1 Feat: Divine Might
Lvl 7: Outcast Champion 2
Lvl 8: Holy Liberator 1
Lvl 9: Holy Liberator 2
Lvl 10: Holy Liberator 3
Lvl 11: Holy Liberator 4
Lvl 12: Holy Liberator 5
Lvl 13: Holy Liberator 6
Lvl 14: Outcast Champion 3
Lvl 15: Holy Liberator 7

Obviously this build lacks 2 BAB and the MWM tree. (WF, WS, MWM) This build is a diplo monkey that can actually fight, although his to hit could be a lot better. Which leads to the second build:

Suel Human
Str 15
Dex 12
Con 14
Int 8
Wis 12
Cha 14

Lvl 1: Rogue 1 Feats: Iron Will, True Believer
Lvl 2: Fighter 1 Feat: Weapon Focus (Greatsword)
Lvl 3: Barbarian 1 Feat: Extra Rage
Lvl 4: Fighter 2 Feat: Power Attack Boost STR
Lvl 5: Rogue 2
Lvl 6: Rogue 3 Feat: Improved Sunder
Lvl 7: Holy Liberator 1
Lvl 8: Holy Liberator 2 Boost CHA
Lvl 9: Holy Liberator 3 Feat: Combat Brute
Lvl 10: Pious Templar of Kord 1
Lvl 11: Pious Templar 2
Lvl 12: Pious Templar 3 Feat: Melee Weapon Mastery Boost: Cha
Lvl 13: Holy Liberator 4
Lvl 14: Holy Liberator 5
Lvl 15: Holy Liberator 6

This build doesn't have the diplomacy checks or the Outcast special damage power, but hits more often (due to taking only one hit to BAB instead of two) and with Combat Brute will often end up hitting harder anyway. It also has a greater variety of skills due to it's rogue lvls and having both Evasion and Mettle on a saves build is nice, although the restriction to light armor might sting a bit, elven chain is plentiful, and how many damage builds do you see with high AC's anyway?

So what do you think?
