How many people got thier kobolt card? [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-07-07, 09:46 AM i was curious how rare (or common) kobolt cards are going to be and how many people have them, i got mine last night and im am exstatic and will probably make a kobolt sorc that uses practical metamagic with empower and or practical quicken and or practical split ray

I think a common combo will be practical empower and practical split. Though practical quicken with metamagic school focus for +2 quickens 3/day is pretty nice too. Or the same with twin spell. Use a 4th level slot to get 2 scorching ray spells. Or a 5th level slot for 2 fire balls. Combine with a warmage's sudden empower and you are effectively trippling your damage.

On another note, will we be allowed to use the Eberron card that increases the radius of aura's? Can't remember the name of it right now, but I got two of those.

08-07-07, 12:41 PM I got six cards, two of which were X'endik cards. Of the four LG cards the Kobold card was on top, grinning at me when I opened the envelope.

08-10-07, 10:51 AM I barely got my cards yesterday. Out of six cards, four were Eberron but the last two were the Kolbold card and Fatal Strike. Lucky!

Now I have to get my hands on a Races of the Dragon manual and figure out whether I can make a Kolbold build that I actually want to play. (With as many Kolbold-specific racial subs, feats ect as I can stand to use of course...)

I almost believe that the people in charge of sending the RPGA sign-up cards simply randomly pick some names and send some cards out to those people. I mean seriously folks. People getting multiple batches cards who haven't asked for any. People who have asked getting none, or getting some months after the fact (despite getting fed-exed). Maybe there is a monkey somewhere that just scrolls up and down a list and hits 'send cards' every once in a while.

P.S. The above is only slightly sarcastic. But only because I doubt the RPGA could afford to hire a monkey.

Yesterday, for the first time ever, without asking for them, I received 6 RPGA sign-up cards by FedEx as well.

When you're dealing with budgets and expense accounting in the hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars, a few thousand extra bucks in shipping costs isn't even noticeable.

Would you like to wait a few weeks or would you like to build your Kobolt goodness right away. If I land one I might take Knight and Palidain levels just for the sheer comedic value.

I've received a packet of Fed-ex'd unasked-for RPGA cards before as well, and nothing about it really makes sense. My best guess is that they send them to people after they start Judging...on their own random timetable.

Fortunately, I already knew of a good home for those cards...in the hands of people who had been trying to get some without success.

That's utter and complete balderdash. I used to work as a sales administrator for a multi billion dollar company, my department had sales in the hundreds of millions of dollars annually, and shipping costs were a constant, major concern, especially express shipping costs.

For example, I work for a multi-billion construction management company. We make skyscrapers and develop areas a half dozen blocks at a time. Business is good, so good we're turning away jobs due to too much work available.

We barely use postal mail. I see dozens of FedEx packages lined up every night by my office's mail area. And not small ones either, we send 25 pound three-foot wide rolls of architectural plans out all the time. And mine is just one office out of dozens we have internationally.

My brother works for a major media conglomerate. He mentions seeing similar stacks of express mails go out every single day.

I mentioned to my cable company that I was having interference on my TV signal just a couple days ago, nothing serious, just please take a look the next time you have a repair guy in the area. The very next morning I got a FedEx package with some filters they wanted me to try out to see if it cleared things up. Clearly, they didn't need to use express mail, but they did.

I suspect that their shipping contractor has a "cost plus" contract, so increasing shipping cost is beneficial to the contractor.
