Hey guys, I am starting a new character tonight and the reqs are as follows: Point buy out of 28, obviously, also only core races and classes at 1rst lvl., again obviously. I believe the battle sorceror to be allowed though. I am thinking of leaning in that direction, or that of a scout if allowed. I have been out of RPGA for a bit and not sure on the new classes that are allowed. Regardless, I would like to play the character along the lines of a sniper build, with the ability to fight in melee. Either of the two classes would probably work, but I would like to know if you guys could give me some ideas for races and feats....or any other thoughts you might have....Just for fun, what would be the most powerful low level character one could start with under such circumstances?

Human Scout

Point blank and precise shot

Try to have a good strength, it's not all about dex
remember the errata, scouts get disable

Thanks for the idea...I am partial to Elves..I would love to do a hexblade/warlock cross, but the problem is I am at work for a while, and all the info I need is blocked out by our filter.
Any thoughts on the combo, and also, race and feats. Are hexblades and warlocks allowed at 1rst level? I cannot get into the new info either.

so, what would you recommend as far as ability scores for the scout? I pretty much always play fighters/paladins/warlock types. I like spontaneous casting, and I like the ability to kick ass in melee. I am not a armor person, I know it is important, but I am not looking for a tank, more along the lines of lightly armored swordsman with innate spell abilities alah eldritch blast.

You might see if you can access the LGCS for more info on the latest changes. Its at http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=lg/welcome in the documents section.

I believe the battle sorceror to be allowed though.

Assuming you're talking about Living Greyhawk (because you're posting here), battle sorcerer is *not* a legal class (nothing from Unearthed Arcana is used in the campaign).
