i have been thinking of how good of a power build will this be with a gray elf wizard.
stats
Str8
Dex16
Con12
Int18
Wis12
Cha8

1.Wizard skill focus(spellcraft)
2.Wizard
3.Wizard spell focus(abjuration)
4.Wizard stat bump CON or INT
5.wizard craft wondrous
6.wizard greater spell focus(abjuration)
7.Geometer
8.Geometer stat bump CON or INT
9.Geometer or mindbender Feet?
10.Initiate Of The Seven Fold Veil
11.Initiate Of The Seven Fold Veil
12.Initiate Of The Seven Fold Veil Feet? stat bump CON or INT
13.Initiate Of The Seven Fold Veil
14.Initiate Of The Seven Fold Veil
15.Initiate Of The Seven Fold Veil Feet?
16.Initiate Of The Seven Fold Veil stat bump CON or INT

i was thinking of a spellcaster that can fend for himself with out the help of the other party members.

i want the flavor to go to he thinks he is better then every one else and he can prove it. the mindbender for the awesome ability of telepathy. Or will the 3 level of geometer add more to the table instead?

right now i have my gray elf wizard going toward this path. he asks like a cocky know it all that thinks he is better then every other person on the world. Any help will Be Appreciated.

is the skill focus spellcraft a prereq, cause it seems a little bit wasted otherwise. geometer 3 is significantly better than gemoter 2, so unless you really want that telepathy, id go the geometer.

and as for your wizard... you should meet alvin :D

yes skill focus(spellcraft) is a prereq. i want to go mindbender because i could toy with there minds and that is fun and desturbing. also do you have to sare a language so talk to some one telepathy.
who is alvin?

That's a similar build to my 4th level Wizard. He has a 6 St., 20 Int and 8 Wis though.

I would reconsider Geometer. If the Boccob's Blessed Book didn't exist, it would be a great prestige class. One level of Mindbender is great if you can get access.

My build will be Wizard 6/ Ruathar 3/ Initiate of the Seven Fold Veil 7 (yes, that adds up to 16.)

The existence of a Boccob's Blessed Book just makes geometer less attractive. Rather than taking this manner of dip, you could also try out

Wiz 5
Mage of the Arcane Order 2
Fatespinner 3
Initiate X

Or dump the MooAO levels in favour of divine oracle, if you can't get access. Or wildmage is also a lot of fun. Or... I just don't think that Geometer is worth it. Other silliness that you can get away with is Wiz5/Divine Oracle2/Loremaster2/Initiate X. Or... there are plenty of different options to choose from, most of which don't take the 6th level of wizard (even though it adds +1 to everything!).

I've got a grey elf wizard5/do2/lm6/archmage2, and he's pretty powerful. Last core special I played with him was a blast - you didn't want to cross him on the day we went into the complex.

Two things - I'd recommend not taking craft wand, especially if this is your primary character. Also, bump intelligence. You get skill points, more spells, and saving throw DCs, and if you want to plast things, saving throws mean a lot. I think it's a good idea not to go strength6/wis8/int20; saving throws are good, and so is carrying capacity. When you die instantly when a shadow hits you and rolls a 6 on the strength damage, it ain't cool.

Cheerio,

alvin is the least coherent, most irish, most too-many-classes-at-once little gnome on the planet
shortly, he'll be sitting on:

3 wizard, 2 geometer, 3 shadow caster, 3 master of shadow, 1 template, 3 nocturnmancer...

hes clinicaly insane... he a knight, hes got 26 int...

hes fun :D

i think i will take your advise and go with the wiz5/DO2/LM2?IOTSV7. i was thinking of bumps to con for the needed hitpoints, but on second thought the bumps to int is a good choice. if i would dump craft woundrous item what other feet would i take.

i still want this to be a smart mouth elf with a superiority complex.

You should keep CWI, it was probably just an oversight that you were recommended to drop craft wand, a feat you didn't have on your build.

Keep Craft wonderous. It's awesomely useful.

I, on the other hand, took craft wand as soon as I hit level 5, and immediately made a wand, which I used a few charges off, and then sold again because it was really quite useless. It means that I've never been able to dump craft wand, and because this is my primary character and CWI has enough to keep you really busy, wands just weren't a priority to be made. Especially when you can leave an open slot for that weird utility spell that nobody ever takes. So yeah, suggestion is not to take craft wand.

Be careful with Wiz5/DO2/LM2/Initiate X. It's a really feat whoring build =S On the flip side, you get to dump a LOT of ranks into UMD, which is lotsa fun! =) And speak language... also lots of fun.

Divine Oracle needs Skill Focus (knowledge religion), which doubles as the feat required for loremaster. But it gives you a domain and evasion, so no complaints there. Loremaster needs three item creation feats or metamagic feats. You have scribe scroll, and you should take craft wonderous, so you need another feat. I suggest quicken or empower, but that's just me. Possibly maximise. So that's three feats so far:

Skill focus (knowledge religion)
Craft Wonderous item
One metamagic feat

Next, you need three _more_ feats to get into initiate of the sevenfold veil, skill focus (spellcraft), and spell focus and greater spellfocus in abjuration.

So, 6 feats to pull it off. Given that you get a feat at 1, 3, 6, 9, and one bonus wizard feat, I must apologise and say that no, you can't actually get into initiate like that, unless you play a human. If you take an extra loremaster level (which isn't such a bad thing), you can take the secret that gives you another feat, and then you meet all of the prereqs. So then you'd end up with Wiz5/DO2/LM3/InitiateX. If you want to be stupid, you can take your level 12 feat as spell focus (something else), and then you qualify for archmage for level 14, but that's only if you're satisfied with 3 initiate levels ;-)

Have fun,

Just so it's said, a Geometer can scribe 125 spells into a spellbook for the cost of 1 Boccob's Blessed Book. Though I suppose if your going to craft it at ninth level it'd only be about 62 spells for the same cost.

Most IotSFV I see around here in the shield lands follow a;
Wizard/Fatespinner/Initiate of the Seven Fold Veil/Archmage
style of build.

keep in mind the following:

1) you never know what access might come up (ie. shadowcaster). especially given that complete mage will probably get a showing by around next march, so if you're planning to make a brand new caster, it might be an idea kind of treading water till then.

2) con is never over rated... low con is, imo, most likely to get you killed in lgh

3) headbands of int are luvly. its the headband slot, which is not exactly suuper used, and you can get access to +6 without much effort.

actually, i have access to add a +1 on top of any stat boosting item... does that mean if i had a +6 headband of int, i could buff it to +7?

you should be able to, but i am not to sure myself on the issue.

ok, i have a copule options open to me then,

1. go Wiz5/DO2/LM3/InitiateX to get all the feets in, but then i will retire without getting my Initiate7.:(

2. go wiz5/DO2/fatespiner2/InitiateX and just get all the feet i need in. use the spin of fate to increase my spell DC or make some else rerole. i like this idea becasue it fits my charicter theme of geting someone where it hearts them the most.

3. go wiz6/Ruathar3/InitiateX for know aparient reason and if i get axcess.

if i ever did get axcess to the shadowcaster and other things i might change things abit.
which one should i go for or if there is any more options advalible for me.
