| happosaai08-10-07, 10:43 AM | Last night was my weekly LG game, and me and a friend of mine were discussing making an inquisitor type character, and Judge Dredd immediately popped into my head. The god Pholtus sprang to mind also - as the god of Glory, Good, Inquisition, Knowledge, Law, Purification and Sun. A Quote from the book of Phontus: "The One True Way is a strict path, but guarantees rightness. Show no tolerance for those who do not give all for the cause of Law. Fanaticism in the name of the Blinding Light is praiseworthy, and Law's champions shall be rewarded in the era when chaos has been vanquished." As it is written, so shall it be! So I was trying to think of a way to make this type of martial character... and I couldn't help but think Paladin or Pious Templar, except I can't see this "LAW man" wielding a quarterstaff. Also the prerequisite to getting into the PrC Church Inquisitor (which totally fits this character type perfectly) needs the ability to case Zone of Truth, a level 2 Cleric/Paladin spell. Does anyone have any ideas on how one might go about making this type of build? I'm pretty set on this being a Pholtus worshiper, and I really like the way Church Inquisitor fits with the concept. As a Paladin, the only course I see would be Paladin 8 - which would then grant access to that 2nd level spell. Of course, I could do Paladin 5 Pious Templar 3, but that would put me in the same boat - waiting til level 9 to take the PrC. I realize this character would not be the most efficient or most optimized, but he would be damn fun to play in my opinion. So any suggestions for building off this concept would be most appreciated. Thanks, Steve |

Toss in Iron Will and a 14 Wis, which makes Fighters seem much more the 'devoted religious warrior' type without having to delve into Paladin, to me at least. |

We just had a meta-org re-org, and the Pholtans can give you access to pretty well everything you want for your character. Your main problem is going to be finding Shield Lands modules to play so you can rank up for Church Inquisitor if you live far from the northern Midwest (Minnesota and the Dakotas). Still, if you're interested, PM me and i can help get you set up with some appropriate regional information. |

| Fakegoatee08-10-07, 11:12 AM | You should be able to qualify for Church Inquisitor at 6th with Pal2/Cleric3. |
| berpo08-10-07, 11:55 AM | You should be able to qualify for Church Inquisitor at 6th with Pal2/Cleric3. You could qualify at 4th with cleric 3... it is the best prc if you want to begin quick. |
| delewobmesid08-10-07, 12:08 PM | definately a gray guard.... |
| KarmaInferno08-10-07, 01:15 PM | Heh, my main character is exactly what you describe, a Judge. Cleric 7 / Divine Oracle 2 / Church Inquisitor 5 Pholtan, member of the Knights of the Watch (a law-concerned meta-org), and absolutely uncompromising when it comes to law & justice. The DivOracle levels aside from giving him Precient Sense, fits well with the truth-seeking aspect of his calling. In my case he's 56 years old, and has a background of being a retired law-giver out on his Long Walk, bringing Law to the Lawless. I started back in 3.0 as a paladin, but in the 3.5 rebuild I switched to cleric, because it's not hard to simulate most of what a paladin can do with cleric abilities. Church Inquisitor gives the Detect Evil, and the enhanced spell capacity makes up for the loss of Smiting and such. -karma |

I'm not sure a fighter/rogue would be really good for the concept of being a Judge - as a fanatic of the law I doubt he'd 'be' a judge if he employed any skills he felt would be shady ;) |
