| Lomiat02-17-07, 09:17 PM | DMM deserved to go, but it took pretty much all the Ooompf! out of my cleric's build along with it. Nonetheless, Aegon's still a good lad, and I'd like to find a way to make him useful and to take advantage of his... eh... peculiar attribute buy. Therefore, I open this discussion to any suggestions about how I can "fix" him. Aegon Lothar, Clr5 of Lydia Str 8, Dex 8, Con 8, Int 10, Wis 19 (21 with Periapt +2), Cha 16 domains: Sun, Travel; feats: Extra Turning, Quicken Spell, Craft Wondrous Item Notes: Aegon was originally built to abuse DMM:Quicken while I waited for my wizard to be able to Quicken his own spells. I swapped DMM:Quicken for Craft Wondrous and intend to retrain Quicken Spell at 6th level. Also, he's headed for Radiant Servant of Lydia. That much is settled, at least until he picks up the Glory domain. That, and he's going to continue as a full divine caster; I don't intend to lose the spell progression. I tend to prefer arcane casters, and though I know it's not the "ideal" way to build a cleric, I built Aegon to be, essentially, a divine casting "wizard." His CON is awful, of course, but he'll end up with roughly as many HPs as a gray elf wizard. Regardless, he's no front-liner, EVER. And any options you wish to present will be ignored unless they allow him to hide back in the second or third line of defense. So far, I'm leaning toward making him more of a Summoner role: Spell Focus (Conjuration) and Augment Summoning. Then, picking up Sacred Healing at 9th level to make use of his expensive CHA bonus and to offer healing while his spells are more combat-oriented. I've also considered, due to the way he's played in mods, to turn him into something of an Enchanter, picking up Greater/Spell Focus (enchantment) and then, later, Heighten Spell. The problem with this is that, even though he picked up access to Hesitate, clerics just don't have too many good Enchantment spells. Heighten Spell would allow him to make use of them more often, but that wouldn't be until 9th level. Meanwhile, I worry, too, that the Calm Emotions trick might get... tiresome. I've looked, too, at a number of Divine feats, including a new one that allows an immediate action turn use to add +4 to a saving throw. The kicker in all of this is that the 16 CHA seems to be wasted. Is there any way to make enough use of the CHA to make him more than a 1-attribute guy? |

Retrain Quicken Spell into one of them and pick the other with your 6th level feat. Regardless - with 10 Turning attempts, you need turning feats. |

Spend 4 turn attempts every morning to ward the 5 other party members, then be able to cast up to 7 touch range spells as close range spells on them instead. No need to get up close to heal. Or retrain Quicken to Divine Ward when you level up, and take Domain Spontanaiety (Travel) as your 6th level feat. Sacred Healing (CD) at 9th isn't a bad idea either, with 12 HP/turn attempt with your current CHA, bumped up 9 more once you craft your +6 cloak of charisma. As for 12+, maybe augment healing. Never hurts. And at least with the new open access, you can get Heavy Plate from races of stone to up your AC by 1vs. Full Plate, and it's only heavy armor, not exotic armor. |
