I'm playing a kobold who's just gained access to the dracolexi prestige class, and I'm seriously considering going that route for fun (even if it will require a lot of retraining from my initial build).

STR 8
DEX 14
CON 12
WIS 10
INT 12
CHA 15

Build : Bard 5 / Dracolexi as much as possible ^^

Feats:
Dragonwrought, other ones to be decided after ^^

Do you have any advice on how to build this as a viable character? Thanks!

Don't Kobold's in LG come with this access? At least I think they do if you used the creation card.

I'd go this route:
Bard 5/Dracolexi 5/Sublime Chord 1/Dracolexi 6-9

It really does depend though on what level kobold he is now, what level you think he might be able to get to, and how many adaptables you think you're going to play from now until then.

One of the problems of Dracolexi is that the Power Word spells it gives for free are NONC in LG except for the very high level PHB ones. Which you'll never be able to cast with Bard...Sublime Chord overcomes that.

Personally, I recommend all 10 levels of Dracolexi combined with Bard 5.

Take the time to carefully consider which Draconic Words you choose, as they'll seriously affect your Kobold's "style", strategy and spell choice.

You COULD take Dragon Wings and Improved Dragon Wings, just for the novelty of a flying inspiring kobold. (You are using Inspirational Boost to get +2/+2 Bardsong, right?) However, taking the wings means you can't take any feats like Point Blank Shot and Precise Shot or other such feats.

If you have access to feats that improve you bardic music or allow special uses of bardsong, take them into consideration before choosing the wings.

Dracolexi is an interesting class, but as someone already mentioned you lose out on a lot since all of the new power word spells weren't included with the access you got on the card! Not that free spells are the breaking point of the class, the words are very useful and could come in handy quite often seeing as the limit to using them is you can't target the same person with one more then once a day.

Of course, bard loves to do weird things. Dracolexi is giving up on things like Lyric Thaumaturge, Sublime Cord, Stormsinger and all those other silly classes.

The theme to our kobolds indeed seems to be to take the wings and fly like the little dragons that we all want to be. Two feats is about the same as 20k in gold it seems with the release of the Magic Item Compendium, so feel free to float like a bird. Or bard, whatever. You pick your spells, make it how you want. Inspire people, whirling blade things, enjoy being a kobold. Just don't waste language choices on speaking common!
