Looking for a bonus feat!!!! [Archive] - Wizards Community

Planning on going into the dervish PrC class but I am 1 feat short.

Couple of things

- I already have factored in 2 levels of fighter
- Hospitaler PrC won't work

So I am looking for a Prc that grants a bonus feat at first level or a Prc that grants either Dodge, Mobility or Combat expertise at first level.

I have looked threw the various books, but couldn't find anything is there something I missed???

01-24-07, 09:47 AM Reaping Maule gives mobility, but it is unlikely you have the cleaver wreastling feat it requires.
Champion of Corellon gives a bonus feat, but also requires some seldom used feats to start teh PrC.
Thats all that come to mind without my books in front of me.

Lessee... requirements for Dervish...
• A base attack bonus of +5 or higher.
• 3 ranks in Perform(dance).
• 3 ranks in Tumble.
• Combat Expertise feat.
• Mobility feat.
• Weapon Focus feat.

Humph. I'm presuming the Perform and Tumble are completed. If I knew your precise current build, I could do more to help.

What you actually need to get into Dervish (one of the reasons there's so few of them) is four feats: Dodge, Mobility, Combat Expertise, and Weapon Focus.

As a human with two levels of fighter, this is attainable by level 2. As any other race, easily done by level 3. What else have you taken that is getting in your way? Or is this a "conceptual" build, and is there something you could put off until level 6 perhaps?

Could you put off entering the class by 1 level, and enter it at level 7 rather than 6 (the earliest you could have entered anyways) to use the 6th level feat for it?

The problem with trying for PrC's to squid a feat is that most PrC's require another feat of some sort to get in, meaning you break even or have a net loss.

The problem with hunting for base classes of that sort is, Fighter is the only class that gives a bonus feat of the type you require.

Now, if you take 4 levels of Fighter rather than just 2, you get another bonus feat. Does that help? Or are you needing 3 other levels of something else for some other part of the build?

Again, give more specifics and we can help you more.

Str:13 Dex:17 Con:10 Int:14 Wis:8 Cha:10

1. Rogue: TWF (already taken)
2. Swash: Weapon finesse (already taken)
3. Swash: eagle fury (really really want)
4. Fighter: weapon focus-eagle claw
5. Swash: int damage (also somewhat want)
6. Fight: dodge, mobility
7. EWP: show off
8. EWP: TWF reduction
9. ??? Dervish if i take 2 more fighter levels: mobility or improved critical

So right I know I could drop 2 levels of Swashbuckler and take 2 levels of fighter to get where I want. But I would rather not........

I would also like to have improved critical at Lv9 and not wait until 12 to get it.

I know life is about compromise and such....:) just looking for a loophole:D

seems to me the first level as rogue kinda put the spanner in the works

The Int damage really isn't going to do you all that much good. You're better off just pumping up your Strength.

Swap the two levels of Swash for another two of Fighter.

01-25-07, 09:05 PM I second the motion to push back eagle's fury. It's not going to do much good at lower levels anyway with the additional -2 to your attacks, or -4 if you make an extra attack with 2 eagle claws, for a total penalty of -6 for TWF and 2 eagle's fury attacks....Sure, you get 3 extra attacks in the bargain, but it doesn't matter how many attacks you have if you never hit anyway...

01-25-07, 11:12 PM Yeah, now that I look at it the only feasible way is to push eagle fury to 9. At 12th though I'd pick up staggering strike to make use of that 1d6 sneak attack.

01-25-07, 11:25 PM Thanks for considering my problem.

Pushing eagle fury back to lv 9 doesn't solve my real problem of getting improved critical before lv 12.

I guess it's gonna be 1 level of Swash and 4 levels of fighter (sigh)

On a side note Eagle fury only make's it -4 not a -6 (thats the way i have had people tell me before and HeroForge only give a -4)

Swap the two levels of Swash for another two of Fighter.
