| JohnduBois04-12-07, 08:45 AM | Hey all, I'm trying to find a region that has a location with the following features: 1. A swamp 2. A relatively large river flowing through the swamp 3. (Optional, but preferred) A Rhennee population on/near the river If you know of such a region, please let me know. Thanks! |
| NeSoDak04-12-07, 09:51 AM | This is what I found for large named swamps. Mistmarsh, just east of the Gnarley forest, has the Neen River and Mist Lake. Gnatmarsh, south of the Celdon Forest, has the Nessar River running through it. Troll Fens, on the North end of the Pale. Blackmoor has a sizeable swamp called the Cold Marshes, but no real rivers running through it. Hool Marsh in the Hold of the Sea Princes, has the Javan River running through it. The Shield Lands have Scragholme Island which is at the mouth of the Veng/Ritense River. Known for its Trolls. And there would possibly be some Rhenee in that area, that I know of. I'm not sure about where you may find Rehnee in these locations. I'm sure there is also several other areas that would work. Just did a quick search to find these. Good Luck |

| Madfox1104-12-07, 10:10 AM | Well, Sunndi has a Vast Swamp at its border and it contains a couple of rivers, but there are no Rhenee in the region. |
| Maesto04-12-07, 10:55 AM | Perrenland has a large lake and a river to the south of it (Velvedyra?), we have swamps somewhere around there also I'm sure. Also, we have our own breed of Rhennee - the Kar'hoosh (basically Rhennee in Perrenland, I think... don't quote me though!) |

The Velverdyva isn't close to the Hearth though. Total number of barges in town, so far, equals: 0. I guess we could use someone who could use the kids from Nesalia's kindergarten how to swim... especially if we do have a swamp. If I'd play a Rhenee I might concider Dyvers. They have a Rhenee town (Drown Town) and a Rhenee metaorg. It do not recall it being very swampy though. |

I meant the swamp is near the stretch of river that is straight across from Ketter's Heath (as I recall). I remember crossing it enroute from the river to Ketter's Heath once in a module. |

I remember crossing it enroute from the river to Ketter's Heath once in a module. I think the closest town is Ruby Falls (which is at the river and likely near the swamp area). The map doens't show a swamp but most of the Gnarley is unmapped anyway. There are the 'Fens of Tor' west of the forest. The Imeryds Run is the river that runs through it. The only town close to it is Hommlet. |
| Sieylianna04-12-07, 12:57 PM | Veluna has a big river and Rhennee, but no swamps of note. Ed |
| ithardin04-12-07, 08:40 PM | Verbobonc has a Rhennee party town on the confluence of the Velverdyva & Celeb'fara rivers called Darkhapor (I think that is what it is called). It is just outside of Rhynehurst. It is mentioned in a Year 7 Verbobonc module and on pg. 23 of The Journal of the Wanderer; The Wayfarer's Guide to Verbobonc (though not by name). "A large collection of Rhennee maintain a semi-permanent encampment just outside of Rhynehurst, and the riverfolk are more welcome in Rhynehurst than anywhere else in the Viscounty. Rhynehurst is a rowdy, exciting place that boasts some of the best wine, best parties, and best bards in all of Verbobonc." The Walker's guide is 3 1/2 years old and according to the Year 7 Verby mod has been "upgraded" to more then an encampment. This might be a good locale for your PC. http://verbobonc.net/Downloads/p13_sectionid/7/p13_fileid/40 |
| ithardin04-12-07, 08:50 PM | Dyvers and Drowntown is also a good option. Drowntown is part of the Dyvers Town Project. There is also a yahoo message board for its citizens. http://living-dyvers.net/Default.aspx You'll need to register (takes 30 seconds) and then will be able to access the town project and other meta-campaign stuff. | Haro04-12-07, 09:31 PM | Near Ungra-Baalan at the top of Lake Quag is the Fler river, which flows all the way up to the Burneal Forest. I believe there are swamplands (although not extensive) around there, particularly as you go further north. John, you'd be aware of a current IUZ scenario that visits the area. The Kar'hoosh are a very interesting subset of Rhenee and worth looking into. Joe |
| bronzmonkee04-12-07, 09:40 PM | Gnatmarsh, south of the Celdon Forest, has the Nessar River running through it. You could pick the Duchy of Urnst. Plenty of Rhenee. They have had a module or two set in the Gnatmarsh. Ian Seale Former citizen of the Duchy of Urnst |
| Eric Anondson04-13-07, 02:50 AM | I'd say that the Shield Lands could work, as noted above. The mouth of the Veng River around Scragholme Isle is swampish. There are Rhennee who have encamped on the shifting river sandbars. Scragholme Isle has been losing its swampland to reclamation over the years though... The Restored Holy Realm of the Shield Lands is short of land, Iuz's armies are squatting about 90% of the fertile agricultural fields... that swamp land has started to look good. ;) The mouth of the Artonsamay is a swamp, so Urnst County looks good. There is a good amount of Rhennee on the Artonsamay. The Nesser River has some swamps and a Rhennee population along it so Duchy of Urnst and Nyrond look a good option as well. |
