| Richo01-11-08, 10:12 PM | Hey, i have been playing LG for a few months now, with a chain fighter. I decided it wasn't the class for me, and i was woundering if anyone could give me a hand with a tank build, like a dwarf standing there with, like, 50 AC. or a rogue with feighting, i am just tired of being hit so much :P. Thanks for the help! |

I decided it wasn't the class for me, and i was woundering if anyone could give me a hand with a tank build, like a dwarf standing there with, like, 50 AC. or a rogue with feighting, i am just tired of being hit so much :P. Thanks for the help! If you have the PHB2, then I'd say try a Sword and Board Full Plate Wearing too the Shield Specialization tree of feats Knight. (Or Fighter, if you want the extra feats.) With a human in a chain shirt at level one with Shield Specialization (heavy shield) and Shield Ward, you can easily have an AC of 18 at level 1. (+1 Dex, assuming low Dex for Full Plate, +3 from the Heavy Shield and Shield Specialization, +4 from armor.) You also have a decent touch AC. Full Plate will boost that AC to 22. After that, it's just a matter of adding items that add to your AC. I believe deflection and natural armor are the main candidates for AC boosts. Especially deflection, as it adds to your touch AC. Halfling Fighters can manage this too, and they get the extra size bonus to AC. The main problem is figuring out a way to do more damage. Because you WILL need a way to do damage to the enemies. Power Attack helps, but is limited by one handed weapons. I'm not sure of any other damage boosting tricks. Hariman PS: If there's a cleric in the party, ask if they'll prep "Shield other" for your Chain Fighter. That will help with getting hit so much. |

The exotic weapon master is optional, I can't recall if there is anything all that useful for a 1 handed sword and board type. |

I tried to eliminate the ranger levels all together but skills are the problem for fast entry into Deep Warden. -Swiftbrook |

Dwarven Defender / Deepwardens generally have very good AC, though limited mobility and slightly sub-iconic damage. Anything that picks up Dragon Disciple 4 will have a nice AC boost - works well with, say, a Bard 2 / Pal 4 / DD 4 / Outcast Champion 6 build. My favoured pick for this sort of thing would be a Monk 2 / Ftr 12 / Rogue 1 build, though–rock Combat Reflexes with a Spiked Chain, Defensive Throw, Elusive Target, Combat Form feats, and take Rogue 1 at 12 for Staggering Strike. |
