Meta-Orgs at 1st level... [Archive] - Wizards Community

I am creating several characters, and to keep things somewhat simple for my first few runs in the RPGA, I thought I would stick with my local region for all of them (County of Urnst). I would like most of them to start with membership in one or more meta-orgs (Hailing From, Adventurer's Guild, various others suited to the class/character).

Can I print these out and set it up as if they are already members, without having played them yet, and just have the ARs for those meta-orgs ready to be signed at my first game with the character?

If I am able to and do so, can I assume access to the benefits of the meta-org (feat, item, alternate class features access) at creation, or do I have to wait until AFTER they have played through the first game?

Thanks!

((P.S. - any recommendations for County of Urnst meta-orgs, or other meta-orgs I could access for a character who is hailing from the County of Urnst, which are especially beneficial for any casters (pretty much all arcane and divine) or rogues?))

i don't know much about the county of urnst, but i know here in the BK you can join metaorgs before playing any bk mods if your character's home region is BK. You just have to be able to afford the gold and TU cost, which in most cases is near impossible. You might want to check your meta-campaign documentation to find out if it's something you can actually do or not.

I do have the TUs, of course, as the characters have never been played. I neglected to look at gold costs, though. I remember a few had low or no cost, so I suppose I could join them still...

Seth is correct in that the BK allows you to join any meta-orgs that you meet prereqs for before playing in your first adventure. They don't, however, allow you to be in the meta-org during character creation, so you can't take options from them when creating your character.

D.K.R., this sounds like a great question for you to be asking your triad; the answer to your question is going to vary from region to region (and possibly from metaorg to metaorg), and your triad is going to have the definitive answer for your region.

Also, if you haven't already done so, you should strongly consider joining the CoU Yahoo group; that's almost always going to be a more effective way of getting answers to region-specific questions than this general board will be.

I dont know if DKR is the one that asked this, and it was eventually answered by Britt. But you can not take advantage of any items (feats, alternate class features etc) from a meta-org until you have played the 1st adventure. You dont actually join the meta-org until after the adventure when you pay the costs to join.

People have been asking this trying to get racial sub levels or alternate class abilities with a brand new unplayed character. Which Britt stated the Triads can not do with the meta-orgs.

The only exceptions come from special core plot arcs.

you'll just have to retrain it later. not too expensive as long as you take care of it fast.
