| Arvagor10-23-06, 04:20 PM | I don't want specific mods or anything like that, nor necessarily regions where one might find such a thing, but is anyone aware of any favors/class combos/whatever that would grant a druid/master of many forms the ability to wild shape into a form with the 'magical beast' type? I am asking as a judge, not as a player of such a PC. |
| Prochytes10-23-06, 04:41 PM | I have seen an AR item in one module that taught someone how to assume the form of one specific aberration from a book other than the MM, if the PC already had access to wild shape/polymorph capabilities. That is as close to access to "magical beast" as I have encountered, off the top of my head, and I would have to dig out the AR to check the exact parameters. |
| clik_ml10-23-06, 05:03 PM | I have seen a mod which granted "Frozen Wildshape" from Frostbane, and among the forms that allowed was cryo-hydra. And in fact I have a friend who took that feat with his MoMF at my suggestion and has dealt something like 500 damage in one round as a buffed cryo-hydra. I feel kind of guilty for unleashing that upon the lands. Ooooh, just noticed that feat is restricted. Bad mod, bad! I'll have to break the news to my friend. |

Unlike polymorph this does not include Magic Beast at any level. There may be acccess on some mod somewhere that allows wildshaping into a specific Magic Beast but it would be an alteration of the PrC and would be a very popular mod for MOMF. :) |

I'll have to break the news to my friend. If you're referring to 'CORS6-01 The Hanging Glacier', the mod was specifically errataed (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=lg/lgif/20060307a) to removed the Frozen Wildshape feat. |
| _m_10-23-06, 07:56 PM | i know it is achieveable, as i know a girl whos druid wildshapes magical beasts all the time. im affraid i dont know / couldnt say if i did, where she got it from, but it is out there. |
| Arvagor10-23-06, 08:03 PM | i know it is achieveable, as i know a girl whos druid wildshapes magical beasts all the time. However, a person doing it all the time, and a person being permitted to do it all the time, are two different things. ;) |
| _m_10-23-06, 08:22 PM | touché. she does have a retired druid, and another 14 druid, and as far as i know, was considered 'the' authority on druids at srdu. again, i dont play a druid, so i could be wrong about things, but i'd be comfortable in saying that if shes doing it, it can be done :D |
| Maesto10-23-06, 11:54 PM | referring to Antinua? No, she wasn't doing magical beasts until she got shapechange at level 17. |
| _m_10-24-06, 12:16 AM | referring to Antinua? No, she wasn't doing magical beasts until she got shapechange at level 17. no, thats not who i meant. sorry, its just not my place to mention names, for all i know the person in question might not want her name randomly spread around. but suffice to say, the access is, (or at least has been at some stage) out ther. |
| Prochytes10-24-06, 05:20 AM | MomFs used to be able to turn into Magical Beasts, back before the Complete books came out when they were still Shifters. Our local MomF, for example, formerly enjoyed turning into a hippogriff. This might explain memories of some retired Shifters turning into Magical Beasts. The revised class does not permit this, though. |
| Rowyn01-12-07, 12:57 AM | They were able to do it according to this guidebook http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=465005 Is this still valid? Beast Totem (EbCS) - You choose a Chimera, Gorgon, or some much less cool Magical Beast as a totem beast, and get a situational save bonus. (Really, the other totem beasts suck. Don't pick them.) A lame dump feat so you can take... Beast Companion (EbCS) - You get your totem beast as your Animal Companion. Beast Shape (EbCS) - You can Wild Shape into your totem beast, with all Ex and Su abilities. Chimerae are melee monsters, Gorgons have AoE petrify. The others...just suck. This is one way that he said you could become some magical beasts. This is based on Eberron and not all campaign settings but still cool. |
| Cardinal Teplin01-14-07, 09:23 AM | I've been playing my shifter/MoMFs character since year 1, and I've not seen any special access to magical beasts. It would make a considerable difference if you did get it, since magical beasts get excellent flying forms and fair few special powers. I've seen access to individual extra forms, but I wouldn't expect the Circle to authorise a mod that gave blanket access to magical beasts. H |
