| Necrochaos10-17-07, 07:30 AM | My character just hit 11th level. I'm trying to decide what to do. My character is Marshal 4/Paladin 2/ Pious Templar 3/ Knight of Furyondy 1 Stats: Str 16 Dex 10 Con 16 Int 10 Wis 12 Cha 19 Feats: Leadership Power Attack Skill Focus Diplomacy Weapon Focus Heavy Mace (I worship Pelor) Weapon Spec Heavy Mace True Believer Heroic Destiny (retraining this now) I was thinking of taking a Fighter level (as I would get a bonus feat) and I would get tower shield profeciency. I just got animated access. I have 12K an could pick up the animated shield shortly. I could also take another PT level. I would get a bonus feat and cast a little more casting. The Knight of Furyondy class second level gives allies bonus saves, but I'd rather have the bonus feats or another class that gives me something interesting. I was even thinking of a level of a Knight of the Chalice. I have feat access to a whole bunch of stuff. Lots of draconic stuff, which doesn't help me much. But I could take the draconic cohort feat and get a gold wryming cohort. I need to find 2 feats to take. I am hoping to get access to Battle Blessing for level 12 Also, I almost have the money to get my Holy upgrade. If I take fighter, I can get my tower shield immediately My weapon is currently silver/sacred. The weapon to get the holy upgrade is +1 adamantine. Any idea what I should do? I have a lot of options. |
| MwaO10-17-07, 09:18 AM | Pious Templar 4 - 2nd level Paladin spells, bonus to Will Save. Melee Weapon Mastery(Bludgeoning) - +2 to hit/damage with your heavy mace. |
| delewobmesid10-17-07, 10:55 AM | Hide Shield (Sandstorm) instead of tower for animated Shield (Open access, covered by shield proficency, +3 AC, -1 to hit, can be used for full cover, much lower armor check penalty) |
| KarmaInferno10-17-07, 11:18 AM | Also remember that the Animated enchantment does NOT remove any of the penalties of using a tower shield. It just frees up the shield arm. -karma |
| Necrochaos10-17-07, 06:15 PM | I understand that I still take the penalties. I just want to two hand my weapon I will take Melee Weapon Mastery. Good call. I need another feat as well since I'm training out Heroic Destiny. Any other ideas? (Edit) How about close quarters fighting? Which do I get first: Holy weapon upgrade (current weapon is silver sacred, would enchant my +1 adamantine to Holy) Animated Hide Shield, or upgrade my bracers of draconic strength from +2 to +4 to get an 18 str? I will take PT 4. Good call over the fighter level. |
| MwaO10-17-07, 07:09 PM | I will take PT 4. Good call over the fighter level. With PT 4, you might want to consider CWI. You have Bull's Strength and Eagle's Splendor - good for upgrading stat items. |

I think going with MWM and Close Quarters will work for 11. At 12, I'll get a feat and I'll take CWI. I didn't think of that. Does this make sense? |
| Hariman10-17-07, 09:35 PM | I think going with MWM and Close Quarters will work for 11. At 12, I'll get a feat and I'll take CWI. I didn't think of that. Does this make sense? Yes it does. But there are 2 things to keep in mind: 1: You must meet all prerequisites for a feat that you gain by retraining at the level you gained the original feat. SO, if you took Heroic Destiny at level 1, you're SOL. But MWM is good just for taking at level 11. I'm guessing that you're getting a bonus feat there? 2: You must have access to an item to craft it. If you don't have access to +4 Bracers of Draconic Strength, you can't craft them. But you could still craft a +4 belt while still saving money. |
| Necrochaos10-18-07, 06:30 AM | I took heroic destiny at 9 and I get a bonus feat from PT 4. I will keep in mind the access part. |

| Necrochaos10-19-07, 06:27 AM | So I guess I'll get the holy upgrade first, then the animated shield. Also, I've had thoughts of selling my boots of speed. I have an anklet of translocation that I where when there is someone to cast haste as I can't wear boots and an anklet. Any thoughts? |
| TWG_Prometheus10-19-07, 10:15 AM | upgrade my bracers of draconic strength from +2 to +4 to get an 18 str? Is upgrading Bracers of Draconic Strength even possible? I guess it could be an AR item with special rules, but that sounds like an item from the MIC, and I don't remember there being any upgrade rules for it. |

I have an anklet of translocation that I where when there is someone to cast haste as I can't wear boots and an anklet. Any thoughts? I'd keep both - if you know someone's casting Haste, wear the anklets. If you don't know, wear the boots. Remember, also, that you can wear both at the same time, just the last one to be put on is non-functional. You put the anklet on first, then the boots. If you were supposed to get Haste, but didn't for some reason, you can spend a move action to take off the anklet... |
| Mattastrophic10-19-07, 12:41 PM | At higher levels, I wouldn't ever expect a Haste. The arcanist has no time to basically click your heels for you. -Matt |
| KarmaInferno10-19-07, 12:57 PM | This is of course why my warmage likes her intelligent armor. It has it's own action every round, and one of the things it can do is Haste. I had originally thought it meant 'haste on wearer', like the standard DMG intelligent item power, but it's been pointed out to me that the text on the AR does not mention the wearer in any way, just "Haste 3/day" -karma |
| Nutation10-19-07, 06:04 PM | Also, I've had thoughts of selling my boots of speed. I have an anklet of translocation that I where when there is someone to cast haste as I can't wear boots and an anklet. Any thoughts? Keep both; lend one out. |

I guess it could be an AR item with special rules, but that sounds like an item from the MIC, and I don't remember there being any upgrade rules for it. It's from Draconomicon or Dragon Magic or something like that. It is upgradeable. It's more expense to upgrade than normal items because it takes up a different slot than normal |

I have an anklet of translocation that I where when there is someone to cast haste as I can't wear boots and an anklet. Any thoughts? Don't sell the boots. They should be a default unless someone is loading a quickened haste. Even then your initiative might be such that you would prefer to be out of haste's small area before the arcanist can act. The anklet is a nice item. Buy 3. Either use them yourself, or loan them out at the table. Just because party table compositions are random doesn't mean that you can't have gear for other characters. The random access rules mean that other characters that would otherwise happily pay double cost for an item can't have it. Whenever you have access to a relatively cheap item like this, get it. When you can't use it, likely someone else can. -James |
