Longstaff from Complete Adventurer is a double exotic weapon that treats WF/WS: Quarterstaff as being WF/WS in it. As it is a double exotic weapon, you can flurry with it if you take Exotic Weapon Master.

If you fight defensively, it makes you immune to flanking, so you might want to pick up Melee Evasion and 5 ranks of Tumbling. Which squares pretty well with Monk 2.

This sort of thing is significantly easier if you cut out the Pious Templar levels–they eat up two feats (True Believer and a Weapon Focus which doesn't qualify you for Exotic Weapon Master) and this fighting style consumes a lot of feats. Consider:

Human
Str 14 Dex 14 Con 14 Int 14 Wis 12 Cha 8
1 Monk: Stunning Fist, Improved Unarmed Strike, Dodge, Deadly Defense
2 Monk: Combat Reflexes
3 Fighter: Melee Evasion, Combat Expertise
4 Fighter: Two-Weapon Fighting
5 Fighter
6 Fighter: Exotic Weapon Proficiency: Longstaff, Weapon Focus: Longstaff
7 Exotic Weapon Master: Flurry of Strikes
8 Fighter
9 Fighter: Weapon Specialization: Longstaff, Melee Weapon Mastery: Bludgeoning
10 Exotic Weapon Master: Double Weapon Defense
11 Fighter
12 Fighter: Leap of the Heavens
13 Exotic Weapon Master: Stunning Blow
13 Fighter
14 Fighter: Hold the Line
15 Knight: Crushing Strike

This does mean delaying your magic weapon purchase until character level 6, but as a monk and a quarterstaff wielder you can get away with it–you're going to be packing Oil of Shillelagh anyway, and you can always fall back on ki strike.

Yeah, you'd have to take it at 4 if you didn't want to spend an unreasonable amount of build points on it. Picking it up with Ranger 2 is a viable alternative.

The longstaff counts as a Monk special weapon in terms of Flurry of Blows - wouldn't this negate the need for EWM Flurry?

EWM Flurry can be done while holding the weapon in two hands - so you get x2 Power Attack and Str 1.5 instead 1 and 1...

quarterstaves are not so bad, especially at low levels, if treated with oil of shillelagh, try to get two levels of ranger for TWF, then go for pious templar to get bless weapon.

or take four levels of cleric of pholtus, with the glory domain - grants bless weapon as a domain spell.

quarterstaves can be used one or two handed, and work fine with power attack.
<edit> uhps, my fault, should be: can be used as a normal weapon or as a double weapon, but it is always a two-handed weapon</edit>

with enough fighter levels for feats longstaff might be an option.

the pious templar prerequisite does not LIMIT you to your deity's weapon ;) [unless the god has a more strict codex anyway].
<edit> you are free to use other weapons, but the weapon specialization from pious templar is for the deity's weapon only</edit>

Ah, yes, you are limited to your deity's favoured weapon. See CD page 50.

You can EWM, Flurry, and TWF with a quarterstaff for three extra attacks, or you can EWM with it two-handed for an extra attack and optimal Power Attack. You can build around one, the other, or both.

Would using a Longstaff 2-handed qualify for Uncanny Blow? I mean, techinically you're using a 1-handed side 2-handed?

Check this thread also. Been looking at a Quarterstaff character also

I don't see the need for a quarterstaff, really. Skip Pious Templar and move on. If you want a devout Fighter, I'd start with a 14 Wis base and toss in Iron Will, then do whatever you want. Alternately, take Knight or Paladin levels, which should provide better roleplaying support.

Nope. One-handed is a specific type, which a double weapon (generally speaking, and specifically a longstaff) ain't.

See PHB description of Flurry of Blows with a Quarterstaff... when you Flurry with a Quarterstaff, you are obligated to use both ends... thus, you cannot 2HF with a quarterstaff if you are using Flurry of Blows. I think Flurry of Strikes would still work with it.

Isn't that what I said? EWM flurry can be used 2HF?
