| _metz_10-23-07, 01:09 PM | Don't Suppose anyone has a good one that I can give to a mate? He always STRUGGLES with his power attack calculations, and if I could give him something he could input his bonus to hit, rage, etc then it would be easier. 1. I know he should already have one 2. I know its not hard to do up one yourself 3. I know People who power attack and spend 5 minutes working it out should be shot Just checking there isn't an existing one that can be used for all characters (a la heroforge macro style) or if I have to make do with constructing him a standard spreadsheet... |

He always STRUGGLES with his power attack calculations, and if I could give him something he could input his bonus to hit, rage, etc then it would be easier. .. Well I don't have one, but I can tell you how I handle it: I keep track of my to hit / dam bonuses without BAB/Power attack figured in. Then I decide how much hitroll I want for the round, declare the remainder as power attack. Constructing a table of usual buffs (and types of bonuses, when applicable) is also helpful. This is better for corks and AC buffs, but a table with things like luck bonus (prayer, divine favor), morale bonus (bless, bard song, righteous wrath), raging adjustments, bull strength/stre enhancement adjustments, etc can work. Once you have your to hit and to dam bonuses without BAB/Power Attack figured into things then you are more than halfway there. Simply guess what the creature's AC is and figure in that much BAB to the to hit, then put the rest to damage. If in doubt either don't power attack or power attack for full depending on what your hitroll vs expected ACs looks like. If you are in the later category then declare it each round, even if all you do is move as you can benefit from it via AOOs. -James |

| Maesto10-24-07, 07:41 PM | Are you after a spreadsheet to calculate optimal power attack, or just a "here's my normal attack bonus, here's my normal damage bonus, enter PA amount and please spit out the numbers I need"? The former is a bit more interesting, the latter is rudimentary spreadsheet stuff. Whenever I'm playing a character who makes attack rolls, I always write down my current attack sequence on a piece of paper. When I get buffed, I update it, so that I always have the most current sequence in front of me. When power attacking, I apply a penalty to hit, and add the bonus to damage. |

| _metz_10-25-07, 01:44 AM | http://www.distanceeducationconsultants.com/ddcalc.php This is kinda what I am after. The guy spends a minute each round deciding what to power attack for, and if harrassed, just either power attacks for none or everything. His hit bonus is silly so when he doesn't power attack its a waste. I can do him up a spreadsheet, but if he sees average damage etc he may be inclined to do vary it a bit more based on his opponent. As to the reference about buffs etc, I have no issues with it personally (I have my own spreadsheet), this is for a mate of mine with a 12th level damage producer, who I often DM for, who has really started to slow down games with his impromptu math. |

His hit bonus is silly so when he doesn't power attack its a waste. Just tell him to power attack so that he hits on a natural 2, but would miss on a 1 regardless of the automiss rule. In other words so that his first iterative attack(s) would need a 7 to hit. It will work out faster than having him look at a spreadsheet and will be almost identical with the results. Of course he has to guess the monster's AC, but that's part of it regardless. -James |
| frisbeet11-11-07, 01:42 PM | YOu could also try my spreadsheets. The 2nd is more general and can handle epic characters, but you'll have to do all the calculations of attack bonus, etc. Not that that's hard. Also takes into account DR, if you like. Click signature |
