question about "pits of azak-zil" [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-19-07, 10:19 PM I've been avoiding groing through the whole Bright Sands plot arc with my players. I have a fraction of players who have been through the entire thing before and it would be difficult but not impossible to get a good table together as well as leaving a particularly loyal player out in the cold repeatedly. But, Pits of azak zil is a core special.

So i was wondering, from the plot in the adventure and the way its set up, would it make since/be worth it to run my players through that adventure?

06-19-07, 10:23 PM I thought it was a LOT of fun, I played the high tier.

I think it would make sense, but it would run longer. This is because a good judge would introduce the backstory behind the major factions involved, Lady Karistyne and Rary. I'd estimate eight hours.

And DON"T just read it to them. That's the WORST kind of judging. Invent some minions loyal to each side, and role-play it out. Remember, ALL box text says read or paraphrase. There's no reason to make it as boring as possible.

The BS mods as a whole were pretty disappointing so I don't think you'll regret not running them.

06-21-07, 11:45 PM ooo, yeah I remember the boxed text from Blood on Bright Sands. Our judge was pretty much reading it rite off the paper which made it boring. I do believe I remember him eventually just saying, "and yadda yadda yadda." But everyone had lots of fun cuz it was such a difficult mod. First LG mod run at our local store. Scared the crap out of everybody. My barbarian got knocked down to 2 in the first fight! (that barb was a trooper. Killed the scorpions AND critted on the hippogriff bringing it down before it could escape:D) But yeah, a judge just reading the boxed text can be boring. I'm bad to misread stuff which has led to some pretty fun stuff happening for me to cover it :P Everyone was banged up after that mod, but we all did survive. but yeah, back on track. I do remember the boxed text being very very long.
