| Andyr08-04-07, 09:35 AM | I'm new to LG, so if this is a stupid question then my apologies. I am trying to come up with a character, and thought that a Hexblade/Suel Arcanamach might be fun. So I looked on the LGCS page 34 to check that whether the class was available, and I can't see the PrC on either the Open or the Closed list. What does that mean? |
| Banor08-04-07, 09:46 AM | All features that do no appear in the LGCS are not open, not close (NONC) therefore you need campaign documentation (usually ARs) to use them. |
| Andyr08-04-07, 09:53 AM | Ok, so in practice what does that mean? Can I say to the DM 'I am going to find someone who has read the Grimoire to instruct me' and that's it, or do I have to do some special quest first? If the latter, what are the odds of being able to get into the class--high enough that I can plan a build around it, or a long shot? |
| DroidTrooper08-04-07, 10:27 AM | You could request a special mission from your triad, a few regions have meta-organizations that allow access should you be a member of a particular organization, and I suppose its always possible access will show up on an AR. As so far as your odds go, look around at the various regions and look at the meta-org requirements you might be able to plan along those. If you have regular contact with a traid member getting a special mission is not terribly out of the question, noteably if you live in a Suel favored region. If you aren't looking to travel and going through whatever meta-orgs requires, or beguile a local triad member, I probably would not plan around it. |
| retro08-05-07, 08:29 PM | Your first step should be to check your region's meta-orgs to see whether any of them give access to Suel Arcanamach. SA isn't a very common class to find access to on ARs, as far as I've seen, but you may get lucky with a regional or metaregional AR. Other than tis, the best way is to request a special mission from your local triad. |
| jstorrie08-05-07, 10:54 PM | Suel Arcanamach is especially difficult to find, too, in regions which are not strongly Suel. And your regional triad will probably not entertain a request for access if Suloise history isn't thematically important in your region. |
| Lightblade08-05-07, 11:09 PM | Access is out there on ARs. You may boost your chances by playing mods that have an obvious connection to the Suel people in some fashion. |
| LGMoses08-06-07, 02:25 AM | Come to the Yeomanry. If you join the University at Loftwick for one year you can then join the Academy of Lore and unlock it. It costs 4 TU's onto the annual cost of the meta-org to study the grimoire. |
| Andyr08-06-07, 01:57 PM | Having read more, as I am in Onnawal where the Suel are apparantly not trusted (because of the Scarlet Brotherhood) I don't think I'd have much luck getting in to the class. |
| sethwms08-06-07, 02:10 PM | i'd do as was suggested above and get into it via the yeomanry. You can always change your region once you've gotten your foot in the door. That being said, you might still be able to get a special mission, filled with less-than-helpful npcs. i'm not sure what your region's history or story is but you might look into it. |
| KShaver08-06-07, 02:27 PM | Come to the Yeomanry. If you join the University at Loftwick for one year you can then join the Academy of Lore and unlock it. It costs 4 TU's onto the annual cost of the meta-org to study the grimoire. I don't see that as an option, it doesn't look like those meta-orgs have been updated since year 4? |
