| Amnarii07-24-07, 01:24 AM | Simple question... Is there a single compiled list out there of current open (and NONC) racial substitution levels, and/or alternate class features? |
| Eric Anondson07-24-07, 02:10 AM | There are no Open of either of those, that I am aware of. There are no lists of NONC because that is partly the purpose of NONC, that there is no definitive list that can be made. There are lists of Open, there are lists of Closed. There can be no official lists of things that are neither. |
| CdrcJsn07-24-07, 03:41 AM | The new Greyhawk Ruins campaign guidelines just opened up a bunch of alternate class abilities. Might want to check them out. |
| Amnarii07-24-07, 03:45 AM | At what point can I use those new campaign guidelines to create a character? |

| Amnarii07-24-07, 10:51 AM | I had read it. And After your post, I re-read it. And I still don't see it in there. So since I am obviously missing it, please share... I do see the bit about needing to start a new character or use a 1st level character, and have a certain AR before 2nd. But that doesn't tell me when I can make a new 1st level character and start playing him... is it already open? Do I have to wait for something? etc. What may seem painfully obvious to you is not to others who are just starting in the RPGA... |
| bitznarf07-24-07, 11:06 AM | Page 10: "the rules presented below describe the character generation process for new characters to participate in "Greyhawk Ruins". And further down "characters with the Domain of Greyhawk as their home region have Open access to XYZ." And one more "new characters designed to participate in "Greyhawk Ruins" can choose the Domain of Greyhawk as their home region. You can make a new character when ever you want. You just need to have Open access to everything you use on the PC. The Greyhawk Ruins Sourcebook simply Opens some options for PCs that have a home region of the Domain of Greyhawk. Sorry if I seem a bit testy, there just so many questions asked that can be answered by simply reading what is written. Look for past threads asking about Open/Closed/NONC for example. |
| Amnarii07-24-07, 11:32 AM | Okay, your condescension aside (and understanding how one can get 'a bit testy'), if you read my last post I wanted clarification on a timeframe. I did not know, and still am not 100% sure, on if there is a specific date I have to wait for (i.e. some specific adventure released, etc.) before I can create a new PC with these rules and run him in an intro module. I am guessing that the answer is no, I can just make one right now, go play in any module(s) I waish, as long as I don't hit 2nd level before I play in the Greyhawk Ruins arc... IF I am correct in that (and I would still like clarification, just in case), is there any way to know when such a module will be available for my new character to play in? |
| bitznarf07-24-07, 11:47 AM | Blah, look at what wangka said. The Greyhawk Ruins mods will be available sometime after GenCon Indy. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=lg/lggr/20070724a |
| wangka07-24-07, 12:03 PM | You need to have 'the Domain of Greyhawk' as your home region to use any of the options presented through the Greyhawk Ruins sourcebook. To have the Domain of Greyhawk as your home region, you need to start your PC in one of the Greyhawk Ruins mods. ... If you start your PC in a mod other than those, you cannot have the Domain of Greyhawk as your home region, and thus the options in the Greyhawk Ruins Sourcebook are not Open for you. My reading of the Sourcebook differs somewhat. It looks like you can choose the home region as "Domain of Greyhawk" for "new characters designed to participate in Greyhawk Ruins." (page 10). On page 25, the FAQ includes a question of starting a Greyhawk character and having them revert to your home region if they reach 2nd level without playing a Greyhawk Ruins adventure. I'd interpret it in a similar fashion to Amnarii's. |

The Greyhawk Ruins mods will be available sometime after GenCon Indy. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=lg/lggr/20070724a Okay, this is what I needed to know, with one slight exception. Perhaps this ignorance seems sacrilegious to some RPGA-ers, but... how do I find out when and where GenCon Indy is? |
| bitznarf07-24-07, 05:44 PM | August 16-19, 2007, Indianapolis, Indiana http://www.gencon.com/ The RPGA home page also has some info on it about GenCon at the moment: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=rpga/welcome |
