| JBeauMI03-11-07, 03:38 PM | This is my first (and only) active LG character. He started as an Asherati for the Bright Sands arc, but I missed nearly all of those games. If fact this character only has 5 ARs, and was reincarnated after the 5th, so ‘she’ is back to level 1. She may look pathetic, but I really like this character’s history. Please, M’ut needs help! M’ut Nazihar: L1 Rogue Born Male Asherati: reincarnated as Female Wood Elf (does not speak Elven) STR 14, DEX 16, CON 10, INT 14, WIS 12, CHA 12 L1 Feat: Dodge Asherati 1 Feat: Heat Endurance, Weapon Familiarity: Eagle Claw (does not get the weapon proficiencies feats of an elf through reincarnation) Worships Geshtai (or may sink into the sand) and played COR5-17 Times Tide Stung by Monstrous Scorpion |
| Timlagor03-11-07, 05:52 PM | +2 Str and Dex for -2 Con.. why didn't you have a 14 Con? You can leave Geshtai now that you're not an Asherati if you want to. Sure you still have that Heat Endurance? Why did you take Dodge? What do you do in combat? Where do you see yourself going in future? You don't really want to be in melee with that Con... You do just about have enough Int to consider Wizard -> Unseen Seer if you want to. |
| JBeauMI03-11-07, 06:14 PM | why didn't you have a 14 Con?Too new to know better? It was my first experience with a point build, so I went for something neutral. Sure you still have that Heat Endurance? As I understand reincarnation, you keep your feats and do not gain the feats of the new race. Why did you take Dodge?I don't remember. What do you do in combat?Throw items (tanglefoot bags and alchemist fire) and shoot arrows. If the opportunity presents itself, flank. Where do you see yourself going in future? What are my options? You do just about have enough Int to consider Wizard -> Unseen Seer if you want to.I need to buy Complete Mage and look that PrC over. As long as "favored class: ranger" is not a problem... |

If the opportunity presents itself, flank. What do you WANT to do in the FUTURE in combat? Do you want to be a sneak attack rogue? A wizard/rogue? An archer? A swashbuckling daredevil? A ladies man? A pirate? All avenues are open to you at first level - you can go wherever your character concept takes you. This also addresses the "what are my options?" topic. I don't remember. If you don't know why you took something, you can retrain it. Retraining will cost you four time units and 100 gp * your character level, and can only be performed when you gain a level (so when your character has 1000 xp, you'll pay 200 gp and 4 TUs if you want to exercise your option to retrain). It sounds like you don't play much, so the loss of 4 TU is less of a painful hit than it is for some of the people on these boards, who play an absolute ton of modules every year (it's true, I swear! Weigh the printed mods, it's gotta get close). This means that if you decide that you don't want to use Dodge (or aren't going to go any further in that tree, and don't want to waste a feat), you can swap it out for something that will work better with your concept. At 1st level (and with a good reincarnate) you are in pretty good shape - you can fix your Dodge feat with retraining, if you decide you don't want to use that feat tree, and you're a clean page, able to go anywhere with your character. Tell us about your character, and we'll help you build him. |

Point Blank and Precise Shot will be WAY more useful. 10 Con aint' pretty, but as an archer, you can get by. Remember, here's your marching orders.... 1) Move self to safety 2) Shoot arrows/alchemical gear 3) Shoot at flatfooted opponents when possible With future levels, I'd take two levels of ranger for the better saves, better weapons, tracking, and Rapid Shot. Also, throw two skill points into Speak Language Elven. I'd take improved initiative as well (later on). You'll want to react quickly, since a) you are fragile, and b) you'll sneak attack flat footed enemies. Forget about flanking. Flanking means melee where a) your feats don't help you, b) you have no hit points, c) you can't use a bow without provoking. In return, you'll get 3.5 points of more damage. News flash: eagle claw + 1d6 sneak attack will NOT do well vs. orc barbarian with falchion. Don't be fooled by the allure of those sneak attack dice. High AC, high hit point enemies will absorb your sneak attack, and then beat you down. -------------------------------------------------------- Now, all the advice above assumes that you WANT to have an archer character. If you don't, ignore it, and post the direction that you do want to go in. My personal opinion is that you would make a good archer, but you have a lot of options. |

| JBeauMI03-25-07, 07:06 AM | M’ut Nazihar: L2 Rogue Born Male Asherati: reincarnated as Female Wood Elf STR 14, DEX 16, CON 10, INT 14, WIS 12, CHA 12 L1 Feat: Dodge Asherati 1 Feat: Heat Endurance, Weapon Familiarity: Eagle Claw (does not get the weapon proficiencies feats of an elf through reincarnation) ------------------------ The three PrCs that seem the best fit to me are: Arcane Archer Highland Stalker Unseen Seer I think I'll take Beguiler at L3 to see how it feels. If I like it, Rogue 2 / Beguiler 3 / Unseen Seer 10 looks like a playable build. If I don't like the feel, Rogue 2 / Beguiler 1 / Ranger 3 / Fighter 2 / Highland Stalker 2 / Arcane Archer 6 could work. Other suggestions? At L3: 1. Retrain Dodge to Weapon Expertise and take Improved Feign? 2. Retrain Dodge to Point Blank Shot and take Precise Shot? 3. Take Mobility? |
