I am still not quite clear on how retraining skills works for multi-classed characters.

For example, you start with a Rogue that has 4 ranks each in Hide, Move Silently, Spot, Listen and Jump. You take a level of Wizard at second level. Could you retrain when you take that level to pull the 4 ranks out of Jump and redistribute them, 1 rank each, to the other four so that you end up with a Rog1/Wiz1 with 5 ranks each in Hide, Move Silently, Spot and Listen without having to pay double skill points to increase the ranks when you took your wizard level?

I am asking because I am looking at a build something like the following and it would be a lot easier to achieve if you can do this:

Level 1: Rogue
Level 2: Wizard
Level 3: Wizard
Level 4: Wizard
Level 5: Wizard
Level 6: Unseen Seer
Level 7: Spell Warped Sniper
Level 8: Spell Warped Sniper
Level 9: Spell Warped Sniper
Level 10: Spell Warped Sniper
Level 11: Spell Warped Sniper
Level 12: Arcane Trickster
Level 13: Arcane Trickster
Level 14: Arcane Trickster
Level 15: Arcane Trickster

Per the rules for Retraining on Pg 194 PHB II. It states you take 4 skill ranks from 1 Skill and apply them to 1 other skill. You can not splt those 4 ranks up among other skills.

So what's the most efficient method of meeting the pre-reqs for Unseen Seer at 6th-level with only 1 level of Rogue?

Level 1 Rogue: 4 ranks in Hide, Search, Spot, Sense Motive;
Level 3 Retain: 1 rank into Hide
Level 4 Retain: 2 ranks into Search
Level 5 Retain: 3 ranks into Spot

This will leave you with 6 skill ranks to be cover with cross class skills.

Retaining 4 into spellcraft at level 2 is probably not a bad idea other, but that all depends on where you want your skills to be at the end.
