Still not completely happy with the builds I'm coming up with for them, but here's where I'm at...I think they make natural Rogue/Swashbucklers with Daring Outlaw and with the ability to tack on 1 level of Wizard/Unseen Seer 4, 7, or 8, they can become pretty decent tertiary casters.

Str 14, Dex 18, Con 14, Int 14, Wis 8, Cha 6

Rogue 4/Swashbuckler 3/Wizard 1/Unseen Seer 7
1: Rogue 1: Combat Reflexes
2: Swashbuckler 1: Weapon Finesse
3: Wizard 1: Scribe Scroll, Practiced Spellcaster
4: Swashbuckler 2
5: Rogue 2
6: Unseen Seer 1: Daring Outlaw
7: Unseen Seer 2: Silent Spell
8: Swashbuckler 3
9: Unseen Seer 3: CWI
10: Unseen Seer 4
11: Unseen Seer 5
12: Unseen Seer 6: Arcane Strike
13: Unseen Seer 7
14: Rogue 3
15: Rogue 4: Staggering Strike

Typically uses Master's Touch on a Spiked Chain so as to wield it proficiently. An option is to drop Rogue 3/4 for Eldritch Knight 2 - gets a bonus feat for Power Attack and ups things into 5th level spells at 15th. Not a real priority to figure out which is more important, though. Tries to generate additional AoOs via either Blink(10th) or Improved Invisibility(12th)

Anyway, +11 BAB, 4th level spells as typically a 10th level caster, +7d6 Sneak Attack damage, Swashbuckler Int to damage. With Grave/Golem strike, can sneak attack a lot of things. Averages about 8 skill points per level.

Advantages of being a Snow Elf - charisma is not needed for the build, a decent strength/con is good to have as the build isn't focused on being a real caster.

Disadvantages of being a Snow Elf - the much more natural build for this is Rogue 3/Fighter 1/Wizard 2/Unseen Seer 8/Spellsword 1 as a human - then you can level Strength and not bother with Weapon Finesse or Daring Outlaw, generating 3 more crucial feats as well as ending up with 6th level spells and no ASF in mithril chain shirt. Those feats essentially translate into Combat Expertise, Improved Trip, and Combat Acrobat...

One of the big plusses to running a Snow Elf in my mind is being able to throw down a 20 Dex without being too crippled by lack of build points for Con. A character who'd love a 20 Dex would be a crossbow sniper:

Str 12 Dex 20 Con 12 Int 12 Wis 8 Cha 6
1 Fighter: Weapon Focus: Light Crossbow, Crossbow Sniper
2 Fighter: Point Blank Shot
3 Fighter: Rapid Reload
4 Fighter: Rapid Shot
5 Fighter
6 Fighter: Precise Shot, Weapon Specialization: Light Crossbow
7 Fighter
8 Fighter: Ranged Weapon Mastery
9 Fighter: Woodland Archer
10 Fighter: Greater Weapon Focus: Light Crossbow
11 Fighter
12 Fighter: Improved Precise Shot, Greater Weapon Specialization: Light Crossbow
13 Fighter
14 Fighter: Ranged Disarm
15 Fighter: Ranged Pin

Will saves are a mess, but the damage on crossbow bolts is pretty impressive for someone with no Strength bonus - +5 or more from Dex, +2 Weapon Spec, +2 Weapon Mastery, +2 Greater Weapon Spec. Shooting 1d8+5 in intro mods is definitely nothing to sneeze at, and that's going up to at least 1d8+9 around APL6, 1d8+13 around APL8, and 1d8+17 around APL12.

Crossbow Sniper only gives you a damage bonus of half your DEX modifier, so that's 1d8+2 at 1st-level.

Also, waiting until sixth-level to take Precise Shot for an archer build is a little crazy.

(Plus if your making a character who fights at range, why do you need a huge amount of con?)

I've beent rying to think up a combination where the Snow Elf would honestly be a better choice, but a lot of the builds I come up with are better for Grey Elves anyway or actually need the darn Charisma.

Everyone might enjoy the con, but if your whole concept is behind being at range like with an Archer type, how often are 1-15 more hit points going to be?

I think that's why they came up with such a wierd creation card. Personally I'd have rather seen Whisper Gnome or Kobold, but I'm sure the Circle will see fit to add in a special Kobold creation card later on.

Maybe just a straight combat rogue might work for the snow elves...

I think it's going to work better than standard elves for a lot of finesse, rogue and cleric/druid types. It's one more hit point per level and a +1 Fortitude save. It's also improved weapon selections for various classes for the loss of Cha.

In reality, it means that instead of putting six points into Con to get a 12 Con, you can either have a 14 Con or you have two more points to spend.

Of my PCs, I have a barbarian/wizard, a rogue, and a swashbuckler/rogue who could have benefited from the race if it was available when they were created.

I've been contemplating my Snow Elf creation card for a long time, trying to decided what (if anything) to do with it. I got excited for a while about a Snow Elf duskblade, until I remembered (doh!) that it was beguilers added to the new rules, NOT duskblades. Back to the drawing board...

My other dilemma had been to come up with a cleric that interests me. No one in my regular group likes to play clerics, including myself, but I'm the one most fanatic about playing so it's generally up to me to fill in this gap. I succeeded with a Mystic Theurge (a gray elf) that I'm quite fond of, but need a lower-level character and don't want to do the same thing twice.

So, I'm thinking of combining these problems and making a snow elf Sacred Fist. She only ends up with 3 levels of cleric, so the charisma penalty to turning undead becomes moot, the dex is a nice boost to armor class, and she DOES need the con since she's can only fight as a melee character-- I've been looking at starting scores of Str 14, Con 14, Dex 16, Int 10, Wis 15, Chr 8.

I'm content with my snow elf build. He'll be a mithral fullplate wearing, courtblade wielding Champion of Corellon Larethian. This is not the ultimate in front liners, but I wanted to build a corkish tank. The barbarian levels are for speed and uncanny dodge. I've been racking up animated shield access lately, so I figure that will become a part of the character's equipment around 10th level.

The only thing that I could see changing the build would be something compelling out of Complete Champion.

Str 16, Dex 16, Con 14, Int 14, Wis 8, Cha 6 (Is anyone building a snow elf with a charisma above 6?)

1. Barbarian - Weapon Focus (Greatsword)
2. Fighter - Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Elven Court Blade)
3. Fighter - Power Attack, Dodge
4. Barbarian
5. Fighter
6. Barbarian - Combat Expertise
7. Fighter - Mounted Combat
8. CoCL - Mobility
9. CoCL - Improved Critical (Greatsword)
10. CoCL
11. CoCL - Elusive Target
12. CoCL - Weapon Specialization (Greatsword)
13. CoCL
14. CoCL - Improved Combat Expertise
15. CoCL - Melee Weapon Master (Slashing)

CoCL is avery tough build because its so feat intensive. I'm going without Power Critical, Close Quarters Combat and Extra Rage, but I think that the build can still be effective.

The reason for the greatsword feats is that they can be applied to a courtblade. The reason why I'm not taking Power Attack until 3rd is because I believe that Weapon Focus is very important at low levels, and because I'll be buying my masterwork cold iron and silver courtblades at 2nd level, so I need the proficiency.

There's a couple of problems with your build:
Elusive Target isn't a Fighter feat, so you can't take it with CoCL...
I don't think Courtblade is worth it for you compared to a Longsword, possibly on multiple counts.

i.e. you could go Barbarian 2/Fighter 2/Ranger 1/Pious Templar 4/CoCL 6 if your choice was Longsword - much better saves, Track, same net number of feats(+1 actually as you don't have EWP: Courtblade to be concerned about)

But the simpler problem with Courtblade is that you end up doing a lot less damage throughout the build - you could take WS: Longsword at 7th and then MWM at 9th - that means from 9-14th, assuming you use the +2 to hit to Power Attack, you'd be doing 1d8+8 vs 1d10...

I'd finally also put Mounted Combat at 2nd - that way you get use of a Warhorse when it is the toughest thing on the battlefield...

In my build, I still have the ability to take Elusive target at 9th level. Your build, which is excellent and well thought out, would not allow it until 12th. I'm more interested in the cork side than the maximum damage side for this build.

If I really wanted to maximize damage with this build, I would use a Thinblade and one level of EWM with Uncanny Blow. Courtblade is not the ultimate weapon, but it does have its virtues. I have to spend one more feat to get the equivalent entry point into CoCL while preserving Weapon Focus. What does that one feat get me? Slightly more damage (although it becomes slightly less because WS and MWM are delayed,) a 50% wider crit range (which very quickly begins to make up for lost damage,) and the ability to do slashing and piercing damage.

I'm not really worried about where I'll place Mounted Combat because the ability to use it any time is rare. I just prefer to get immediate use of a feat with higher utility. I don't know what the game designers were thinking when they threw that Mounted Combat feat in. It seems way out of left field.

What about something loosely like this for 50' movement and an extra feat ...

1. Corellan Cleric - WAR - Weapon Focus (longsword), CELERITY (+10' move), Dodge
2. Fighter - Power Attack
3. Fighter - Combat Expertise, mobility
4. Barbarian - fast movement
5. cleric (extra spells)
6. Barbarian - uncanny dodge + Mounted Combat
7. Cleric (2nd level spells)
8. Barbarian
9. CoCL - Improved Critical (longsword), elusive target
10. CoCL
11. CoCL -
12. CoCL - Power Critical, Weapon Specialization (longsword)
13. CoCL
14. CoCL -
15. CoCL - Melee Weapon Master (Slashing), Improved Combat Expertise

EDIT .. looking over that again ... the BAB was too low to get CoCL at 8 - build modified

Master's Touch from SpC is limited. Master's Touch (which gives an insight bonus to a skill check) from PHB 2 is open. There's some other spell or feat with this same problem.

I haven't worked out anything in particular yet, for a snow elf. But, it seems like they would make a decent monk.

You've got those spells backwards. Master's Touch from SpC is open(pg 32 of LGCS 597)

It's not that I had it backwards, it's that I was using v7.0 and not v7.0.1 of the LGCS. :P
