Take the favourite mystery feat that will give a few more flickers per day, a few of the mystery pearls of power, to get a few more flickers, and the other feat (again, i appologise for not having the specific names) which alows you to cast spells as if you were in a different square to avoid the lack of ranks in concentration, due to being a fighter. practised spellcaster, to get 4 more levels of shadowcaster for the purposes of flicker distance (5 ft per 2 caster levels, so 20 ft). then X fighter style levels from that point onwards. not entirely sure of the uses of the build, but bassically at any time during the combat, you'd be able to teleport into just about any square near you, without attacks of opportunity, and still make a full attack. (port into a group of mobs and FA whirlwind perhaps). then flicker back out again. Full attack with movement and no aoo... im sure someone else can think of a more usefull use than i have, but with a bit of tweaking, it could be fairly cool. (ps. sorry abbout the attrocious spelling and grammar, again, im at work, and i have to keep rushing / minimising, so as not to get fired :D ) |

To learn a 3rd level mystery, you must know at least two 2nd level mysteries, and to learn a 2nd level mystery, you must know at least two 1st level mysteries; since you can only learn one mystery per level, that means you don't get a 3rd level mystery until at least 5th level. In this respect, a shadowcaster is exactly like a wizard -- to cast a spell of level "X", your class level must be at least ( (2 * X) - 1 ) Based on the wording on page 138...All mysteries have the following characteristics, unless otherwise noted in a specific description. [...] Cannot benefit from feats that enhance spells, such as metamagic feats, Ability Focus, or Empower Spell-Like Ability. Instead, mysteries benefit from metashadow feats.... IMO, Practiced Spellcaster would have absolutely no effect on mysteries, since that feat would definitely be considered a feat that enhances spells (despite not being one of those described in the quote). |

It adds +x(4) effective levels to one of your existing caster classes. since shadowcaster qualifies as a casting class, technically, iirc the wording of the feat, it should be affected just like divine or arcane casting classes. also, one other question, if one were to have levels in say, mytic theurge, and gained a level of a prestiege class that added +1 existing class level... would you get both arcane and divine, by adding to a theurge level? |
