I have a Ftr 8 in the middle of RHoD, and I was cogitating trying to think of paths to go from here with him. I was originally planning on simply going straight to ftr 15, but my biggest beef is my Pholtus-help-me-awful saves. My stopgap idea to mitigate this was Monk levels. Two levels of monk would get me +2 on all three saves vs what I would have at 15, and I get three free feats vs 1 ftr feat, all at the cost of two hit points and one BAB point. My character now is:

Ftr 8
Str 18(20)
Dex 13
Con 14
Int 13
Wis 10
Cha 8

Feats: Weapon Focus (GtSwd), Power Attack, Dodge, Mobility, Combat Expertise, Wpn Spc(GtSwd), Elusive Target, Improved Disarm & Melee Weapon Mastery (slashing)[or whatever it's called].

He is a greatsword fighter with an animated tower shield.

The Positives of dipping Monk 2:
+2 to all saves
Unarmed Damage Bonus
Improved Unarmed Strike
Improved Grapple
Combat Reflexes (Would bump dex to 14 at 12)
Skillz!
[not counting other monk benefits that don't apply while dressed like an Iron Golem]

Cons:
-2 HP
-1 BAB
-Ftr Feat
-Delay of Greater Wpn Spc until lvl 14.

Questions for y'all:

Am I missing anything here?
What would be a good one lvl prestige class dip at 15 (since ftr 13 is pointless without ftr 14)?
Where to go from here with feats? (currently thinking Improved Crit at lvl 9, Heavy Armor Optimization and Greater Weapon Focus at 12, Greater Wpn Spc at 14, Greater Heavy Armor Optimization at 15)

I think you've got it about right... Monk is a great two level dip for a fighter, giving up two hitpoints and one BAB to get a snotload of bonus stuph. The restrictions on monk are that you have to be lawful, and that if you're not a human, half elf, dwarf, etc with favored class any or fighter, you take an xp penalty to do so.

The alternative, of course, is if you're not lawful, to take a barbarian dip, which is also highly beneficial to most fighters.

Don't forget the very useful class skills of a Monk - Spot, Listen, Tumble, and Balance...

I'd look at getting Melee Evasion from PHBII - you've got the prereqs and it is pretty useful against Incorporeals playing Spring Attack games and iterative attacks from your dodge buddy. Also, Hold the Line from CW and Quickdraw.

Those both let you take more advantage of your combat reflexes - you can attempt to Disarm people charging in while you hold a MW Guisarme and on your action, drop the Guisarme and pull out your Greatsword.
