| Archwolf01-27-07, 07:03 PM | I posted in a recent thread that I had a 4th level monk, but that wasn't precisely true. I have a level 3 monk who just gained a level. If I go pure monk, I'll take level 4 monk. If I go Sacred Fist, I should probably switch to a cleric now, take 3 levels and then go to the PrC. But I'm torn on whether that will be as fun as the straight monk. The pro-Sacred Fist argument is hey, spells. Who doesn't like spells? Plus, worshiping Kord or Fharlanghan offers some spiffy monk-oriented domains, while keeping flavor (I'm not a fan of Zuoken, but open to other suggestions). The anti-SF argument is the dearth of weapons can really be a pain in the neck, and the versatility of a straight monk can create all kinds of fun tactical options, even at high APLs. So, any Sacred Fist players out there to offer an opinion? I've never played above APL6, so maybe there's someone with experience at high APLs with thoughts? |

It's DR/adamantine and DR/other obscure alchemical metals that you need an answer for. One answer to that is grappling. Another is buffing and healing other characters. A sacred fist is typically a cleric, after all. You also need a solution for long-range combat, since you won't be using a bow or crossbow. Summoning, long range spells, travel domain flight - think about it. By the way, monk 3 seems like an awkward break-off point if you're aiming toward sacred fist. Mk2/C4 and Mk4/C2 seem a lot more natural - certainly better for saving throws. Realize, by the way, that the monk and sf enhancement bonuses to speed don't stack. Sacred fist actually lets a lot less stack than enlightened fist does. |

Sacred fist actually lets a lot less stack than enlightened fist does. yet another reason I do NOT like Sacred Fist... It needs a rewrite to "stack" its level with monk for these effects (like enlightened fist). I think it also needs to grant (all) DR weapon types.. since you loose weapons. sorry 2 speak off topic.. play your sacred fist. I would choose Mnk4, Clr 2. |

| Alpha_Nerd01-30-07, 12:03 AM | I was thinking about making a sacred fist with Earth Sense and Earth Fist, giving you Magical Cold-Iron fists. Also, couldn't you theoretically use silversheen on your fists since they are treated as manufactured weapons? |

You know...If you can use oil of magic weapon on your fists, then i don't see why Silversheen would be any different...it would probably feel wierd though.... |
| Iswald02-02-07, 02:02 PM | Sacred Fist is not a very good PrC, from my experience playing one. Among the other things mentioned, the monk and Sacred Fist movement bonuses do not stack. There are a couple spells from RS that will help with DR, more if your PC is a dwarf. |
