Undermountain favor suggestions? (500gp or less) [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-23-07, 08:06 PM I have a couple of favors from playing Undermountain at the summer cons; each entitles one character to any item from the Magic Item Compendium worth 500 gp or less. Anyone have suggestions for useful items? I haven't decided which character to give it to.

12-23-07, 08:31 PM I think given the relative scarcity of weapon/armor crystals, those are the best value. The Least Crystal of Return is a nice one to have a few of for a weapon user and the Iron Ward Diamond is good for DR 1/-.

(of course, given Ishkara, that shouldn't be surprising that I say that...)

I chose to use the favor on the Least Armor Crystal that gives a -2 penalty on all incorporeal touch attacks against you. It stacks with everything (like Ectoplasmic Armor) and is valuable at all APLs. I forgot what it's called, however.

It makes a pretty huge difference at all APLs simply because most incorporeal touch attacks are made at such a low bonus (such as Spectres and Shadows) and those are the really scary ones since Death Ward is the only thing that prevents their effects.

Granted, it's not the greatest item, but within the confines of 500 GP or less, it's the best I could find!
