| _m_11-07-06, 11:13 PM | In appealing to my narcicism (and bad spelling?) i have an idea for a thread: post, of you will, your characters name, and what class/classes/level it is/has. with the proviso, that it has to be the biggest / best at it. Obviously i realise no1 actually knows if they have the highest level of that sort, but have a crack if you think you might be. For example, if you were, ay, a level 5 druid, 8 master of many forms, you could have a fair guess that you were lgh's highest level momf, and thus feel free to post. keep in mind, id rather you didnt post retired toons. cheers. |
| Jay_Ibero_91111-08-06, 12:22 AM | Well, I have a 6th level Sorcerer who is one of the very few, if only character in LG to take Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Heavy Repeating Crossbow), and it's proven handy. I have a 9th level gnome druid who is unique in his totally screwed up allingment detection. He has one curse which makes him detect as evil, one that makes him detect as good, and one that confuses detections on him...Then I have a Dwarf who has turned into an Elvish Impersonator, being that his highest stat is dexterity, he wears Elven Chain, and he has a curse that forces him to speak in rhymes...Certainly not the "best" at what they due, but each fairly unique. Langmuir, Sorcerer 6 Thok Quickhammer, Fighter 6/Monk2 David the Gnome, Druid 9 |
| Mommy was an Orc11-08-06, 12:25 AM | Have you checked out nyrond's website at nyrond.org? There's a very good character list - you can actually see about 4000 or so characters and what PrCs/classes they ended up taking. It isn't complete, but it does give an interesting overview. |
| _m_11-08-06, 12:30 AM | yeah, but this is more... personal :D as for me, as far as i know, im one of the very few pc's with the dark template (though i know there are a few more), i think im one of maybe 2 or 3 shadowcasters, and im fairly certain that im the only master of shadow. |
| paigeoliver11-08-06, 02:25 AM | I think there are a LOT of Dark Template characters out there. I played with two or three different ones at the last convention I went to. |
| Lomiat11-08-06, 07:01 AM | I've got an 11th-level fighter mutt who's Occult Slayer 5. Um, I guess he's the highest-level Occult Slayer one is ever going to find (unless they hid that 6th level somewhere...). Is he terribly unique? In roleplaying, I think he holds his own. In his build, he's just another spiked-ch.... wait! he uses a Halberd!... tripper. |
| Reska11-08-06, 09:02 AM | I think I'm the only druid who thought of taking the Dire Tortoise as a Animal Companion. Current: Drd 6 Goal: Drd 6/Beastmaster 1/Wiz 3/Arcane Heirophant 4 (in that order) |
| clik_ml11-08-06, 09:51 AM | I think I'm the only druid who thought of taking the Dire Tortoise as a Animal Companion. I assure you, you're not. Ehhh, in fact I think that many folks found the dire tortoise to be the main draw for a sandstorm chatacter (other than the centaur and asherati, the non-druid options just aren't that intrestingly different). I've even seen a few people espouse their character build for an arcane heirophant with a dip in beastmaster to make their dire tortoise more mighty. Most decent builds out there aren't likely to be totally unique. There's only so many options, and there's a lot of players out there. Granted there's plenty of build options that seem common, and so long as one stray's a little bit from that path, then you shouldn't be running into lots of other characters who feel like your double. |
| RedKnightofKet11-08-06, 11:13 AM | hmmmm..... Dwarven Dervish? My secondary is a Scout 4/Fighter 2/Dervish 1..... ultimately will wield twin merciful scimitars, after trying to activate his wand of Expeditious Retreat. CHA 6, cross-class into UMD. I also have a low level Dwarven Warmage... |
| Maesto11-08-06, 12:07 PM | Ok, I'm sure this isn't unique, but this character is certainly scary. Since you asked... Wiz5/Divine Oracle2/Loremaster6/Archmage2, grey elf with int 29. Spell focus in evocation and enchantment, specialist diviner (no necromancy). Archmage tricks are mastery of shaping and mastery of elements. Quicken feat is in there, and I'm sorry I took craft wand; empower would've been a better choice. Craft wonderous is in there too. I've got _every_ core access spell up to and including 7th level (non necromancy). Ring of arcane might and rod of lesser maximise are notable useful items. Rod of lesser chaining has prooven to be _very_ useful. The Belt of Magnificence +2 is certainly noteworthy; the UMD of +19 (+23 for scrolls) is fun, and a wisdom of 11 means that I can cast any first level scroll (with only one roll for up to 4th level cleric spells). Soon to craft is the luckstone, for insane knowledge rolls. The unique part of this character is the +1 deathward light fortification gnome battlecloak, embedded with an intelligent item which can cast disintegrate and insanity once per day, and has detect magic at will. He's fun. Jolyon |
| smerwin2911-08-06, 12:13 PM | My bard/barbarian is saving up for a gnome-bane greataxe after adventuring with a gnome illusionist whom he wants to kill. |

Jolyon actually jolyon, im pretty sure that IS a unique character. im just about to buy that luckstone myself. ive only got 24 int atm, but im only 9th level :D as for clik-ml: i realise that there are only so many unique builds out there, but: someone has to be the highest level of each. i mean, i have a higher level dervish than mr redkinght, but i dont think its the highest, and im wondering who is. and, on the topic of unique: il betchya no1 else has: 3 wizard 2 geometer 1 dark template 3 shadow caster 3 master of shadow, 3 nocturnmancer. *grin* |
| thorinXXX11-08-06, 08:16 PM | My bard/barbarian is saving up for a gnome-bane greataxe after adventuring with a gnome illusionist whom he wants to kill. Wanting to kill gnomes is hardly unique.:D |
| thorinXXX11-08-06, 08:24 PM | I'm still partial to my swashbuckling Thief Acrobat whose strength finally caught up to his charisma at level 12. Rogue 4/ Fighter 2/ Wizard(diviner) 2/ Thief Acrobat 4. A +25 to Bluff is not too shabby.:D |
| SgtHulka11-08-06, 09:04 PM | I think the two most unique characters out there have to be straight Fighter 15 and straight Rogue 15. Come on, fess up, anyone got one? |
| Frumpkis11-09-06, 05:18 AM | IMHO, what makes a character unique is not really the build, but the concept/background behind the character. I'm pretty sure I have the highest level, if not the ONLY, cleric of Lendor in the Living Greyhawk campaign (currently L7; pretty much planning on staying pure cleric all the way, with maybe a dip into contemplative). |
| _m_11-09-06, 05:53 AM | aye, but if you can roleplay worth a damn, EVERYONE's character is unique, but im after the top of each sort. biggest druid, blaster, tank, healer. all that jazz. |
| paigeoliver11-09-06, 07:37 AM | According to the Nyrond website there are quite a few base classes that no one has played very high. Highest level Scout is 7th Swashbuckler 6th Favored Soul 6th Marshall 5th (Multi-person tie that includes me). |
| Gelth11-09-06, 10:03 AM | I have a Cavalier 5 (after Paladin 8), which is pretty high (higher than any others on Nyrond, anyway). I also have a Fighter 10, who will eventually become a Fighter15, unless I quit playing first (or change plans, which is possible). I appear to be a fan of single-classed characters, as my Cleric and my Bard (both quite low) are also unlikely to ever multiclass, unless I find a perfect PrC for them, and then only to that. --Penn, Ket Triad |
| kenobi6511-09-06, 11:15 AM | According to the Nyrond website there are quite a few base classes that no one has played very high. Highest level Scout is 7th Swashbuckler 6th Favored Soul 6th Marshall 5th (Multi-person tie that includes me). Possibly because many of those classes were only opened up for play recently (with the 3.5 rebuild, IIRC), and the hardcore players (who'd play enough to get a character up to a high level) already had other primary characters. |
| gomeztoo11-09-06, 12:40 PM | Nesalia is a Brb1/Ftr1/Sor1/Rgr1/Clr1/Dragon Disciple 5, a combo which I expect is not very common. Her shtick (asside from being able to do almost everything a bit and carry the entire PHB in equipment so she never runs out of options) is the ability to fight with any weapon she touches - which essentially means she almost always fights with whatever exotic weapon is in reach ('cause she can). She has a two-bladed word, bolas, a net, whip-dagger, and various other trinkets. She ahs a lot of attacks but her damage output is a bit low, so her main function in the party is battlefield control: flanking, aiding, drawing AoOs and soaking damage. |
| copper_wyrmling11-09-06, 01:15 PM | My sorcerer may be the highest-level wild mage in play, currently sorcerer 6 / wild mage 5. There was a higher-level one, but I think he's out of the campaign now. She's pretty unique for other reasons, though ;) Are there any higher-than-L14 clerics of Joramy out there? I know there are people with more than six levels of sacred exorcist - what can I say, the temptation of Contemplative was too much. Does anyone else in the campaign play a crumhorn? My L2 sorcerer (with no ranks in Perform) has not yet managed to get below 20 on a perform check with her amazing crumhorn ;) |

| amnuxoll11-09-06, 01:55 PM | I think the two most unique characters out there have to be straight Fighter 15 and straight Rogue 15. Come on, fess up, anyone got one? I believe we have a 16th level Rogue in our region. We also have a fellow just across the border with a 15th level Barbarian. Nonetheless, I agree, the rare PC is the one who *hasn't* multiclassed. |
| amnuxoll11-09-06, 01:56 PM | As far as I know, I have one of only two Rage Mages in the campaign. I haven't checked the Nyrond site in a while though. |
| Gwumph11-09-06, 02:03 PM | Well the Perrenland Hero list is full of straight characters. I have noticed a number of fighter 14 or paladin 14 or monk 15 and several other classes as well. |
| DeimosGandymede11-09-06, 02:57 PM | Guy at Gen Con last year showed me his Character Sheet for his first character. I couldn't believe it. 18th level Bard. Ug. -MW- |
| Japangirl11-09-06, 06:07 PM | I am the only golem-killing small rogue in existence! Fear my mighty d3 daggers of adamantine doom!! Liliana is a halfling rogue 5/fighter 2/Invisible Blade 5/sorceror 1 (total levels 13). She is soul-melded to a sorceror's ghost (sorceress technically, the ghost is of a female human) and has chosen to concentrate on killing the things that scare her the most. To that purpose her chosen spells are Golem Strike and Insightful Feint, and she is soon going to acquire two adamantine daggers. She has a sacred dagger for demons and undead and a wounding dagger for everything else. I also think she's the highest level Invisible Blade in the campaign and I know I'm the highest level and possibly only one in the BK. PS: 18th level bards are AMAZING and should never ever be dissed. Ever. |

| Japangirl11-09-06, 06:30 PM | Sorc and a +2 sacred bonus on will saves gives me a whole +9, thank you very much! I do much better than most fighters :P. I have a cloak of resistance +2 as well, going to upgrade to +3 or +4 soon. |
| Alpha_Nerd11-09-06, 07:51 PM | I currently have a Rogue 3/Fighter 2/Barbarian 2/Pious Templar 5, and while I'm sure he's not too unique in his class choices, I'm pretty sure he's the only character that someone has played as their main since year 1 and still hasn't retired. 8 Deaths sets you back a bit. |
| SgtHulka11-09-06, 08:00 PM | LOL. Well, Alpha Nerd, that sets up the next bragging rights question... Who has the most deaths? And the follow-up question... Who has a character who's been permanently drained 1 Con for being raised at first level? |
| _m_11-09-06, 10:07 PM | i have an unusual ability... none of my rpga characters have died... ever... at all. even during 3 tpk's... they were tpk-1's. and i cant work out why... given my mane is basically a doomsday insane cultist style fellow... /shrug. now... hands up whno blew up a volcanoe. *frantically waves tiny little gnome hand* |

| paigeoliver11-09-06, 10:23 PM | Not true. I have a low level halfling rogue with an adamantine throwing axe that is getting construct-bane really soon. | Japangirl11-10-06, 08:44 PM | I see. My rogue is actually a rogue in that it's her highest base class, she is the trapfinder, she opens locks, and all her damage is sneak attack based. I'm not a "rogue" like some are that only have one or two levels in it. |
| _m_11-12-06, 07:43 AM | im not a rogue... but i have hide in plain sight... on a +28. i have 0 non caster level classes. |

| Britt11-15-06, 07:59 PM | My main was Gumsk Voksht, a 16ftr/2bbn bleached half-orc that thought he was an avatar of a (then) non-existant god, the Black Overking of Aerdy, a CG Paladin, had an intelligent sword he thought was the personal sword of the aforementioned god, a talking horse, and wings of flying that he let the horse use. The things I would probably list as most proud of would be helping create a new religion, killing Morginstaler in a playtest, dealing 792 points of damage in one hit (don't ask, you can't use the trick anymore), and getting up to a +12 Will save on a BDF. My current main Johran/Kolovor (two legal names so he doesn't lie when in cover identities) is a Pal 2/Rog 3/Marshal 1/Spymaster 6/Examplar 1 with a +35 UMD and a staff of fire. Boom! I have some other characters I like, but I doubt they'll ever get anywhere. I have a Gnome clr3/brd1 of Ralishaz going mystic theurge. He was made to mess up interactives. I made a grey elf monk in year 1 just to try to make a crappy character. Unfortunately, they came out with enlightened fist and made him useful :( My Bright Sands character is an asherati druid going for earth dreamer and staunch supporter of Rary. I've got some others, but they don't have much flavor to them. |
| Japangirl11-16-06, 12:36 AM | So you're the reason Morginstaler has Snatch now, eh? |
| Britt11-16-06, 01:08 AM | So you're the reason Morginstaler has Snatch now, eh? Probably, but it wouldn't have helped him ;) I had Close Quarters Fighting at the time. Actually, I only hit by one pip, so I could have missed on the AoO, I suppose. |
| _m_11-16-06, 05:11 PM | So you're the reason Morginstaler has Snatch now, eh? teehee, improved snatch... best feat ever. |

| Haro11-20-06, 07:02 PM | As far as I am aware, I have the only Suloise Conjurer/Alienist, Scarlet Brotherhood member who has a pseudonatural monkey familiar named Chuckles. He hears voices and enjoys snacking on the odd dragonfly. Joe |

There was an alienist floating about the Shield Lands until the player moved to Singapore. I don't know if his wizard was Suel. So... this is probably the right thread for this tangent: Who has the character with the most DIFFERENT CLASSES? (Bbn1/Ftr2/Hex1/Rog2/Occ5 is only 5 classes... Well, I played recently with a L14 barbarian / rogue / monk / fighter / ranger / wildrunner / divine crusader / contemplative / seeker of the misty isle (iirc). She was rather upset when the GM told her that she was supposed to write her classes and level on every AR ;) I prefer simpler builds myself :) I had a character with three different classes at L3 (ranger / barbarian / fighter), but that's pretty common I think, and from L6 onwards he'll stick with one PrC for the rest of his LG career. My two high-level PCs will each have three classes at retirement, one being a cleric / sacred exorcist / contemplative and the other being a sorcerer / wild mage / fatespinner. |
| _m_11-20-06, 10:11 PM | it really depends what the advantage of the late end of the prc is. i mean, if you want to be a construct... like REALLY want to be a construct, then 10th lvl green star adept is you thing. meanwhile, if you just want an extra strength or 2, maybe just a dip into gsa, and then another into dragon disciple, would be more appropriate. if you only want specific peices, multi multi classing is the go, but if you REALLY like the hi end of the class (killing joke anyone), then go stick it out. |
| RedKnightofKet11-20-06, 10:39 PM | I know my character isn't entirely unique (Druid 6/Beastmaster 1/Halfling Outrider 2), but seeing a little halfling riding a tiger is a strange sight. That, and in the interactive this weekend, in a one-on-one fight with Huge Dire Elk (don't ask), he only hit me with a natural 20, with me flat-footed. Meanwhile, my tiger rips the elk to little bits in no time. When the DM says: "32", and I say "miss", he had only one further response: "Can I get a Triad audit over here!?" On top of that, that tiger now has the Elite Template - so I guess he's a little more unique than he used to be... |
| Gwumph11-20-06, 10:41 PM | I have hear u mention Green Star Adept a couple of times now. What book can i find that in? |

When the DM says: "32", and I say "miss", he had only one further response: "Can I get a Triad audit over here!?" On top of that, that tiger now has the Elite Template - so I guess he's a little more unique than he used to be... As someone who is playing a Druid Beastmaster, what is the elite template and what book is it from? I regularly get the comment from GM's of, How does your tiger hit that hard\high an AC etc. But thanks to one nice little acces I lucked into, it is all going downhill for people that I point my cat at. |
| jhorred11-21-06, 03:58 AM | I have a ftr 12 who will retire with one class. He's a greatsword wielder who's picked up tossing javelins at people, I have the neat throwing feats and quickdraw. The interesting thing is that he's a half-orc who has a half-elf half-brother. You see father was a druid who drank a lot and yeah.... they don't hunt near the house, you never know if any of the animals might be related... My brightsands character is a dwarven evoker 8. Will likely be one classed as well. my thrid will pick up Shadowbane stalker next level and I'll run him through the PrC. Nothing really special about him though I've not seen anyone else run a rogueish cleric. or would he be a clericish rogue.... I list him as a rogue when I muster him. People are usually pleasantly suprised to see that he can heal as well. Gotta love the gravestrike... Last one is a woodelf from the phostwood, scout 2 will be a longsword hand axe wielding dervish. He's already capable of doing alot of damage. 18 Str is nice. |
| Gelth11-21-06, 01:17 PM | Elite isn't a template, it's a stat array. It simulates what happens to NPC stats when they get class levels, essentially a restricted 25 point buy. In this case, it represents getting, in any order applied to stats, modifiers of +4, +4, +2, +2, +0, -2. It also increases CR by 1. This is all per the Monster Manual. --Penn, Ket Triad |
| Reylance11-21-06, 03:14 PM | I have one of several 10th level dragon disciples, one of few 7th level spellswords, one of countless 4th level fatespinners, and maybe the only 2nd level master of radiance. |
| nobodez11-25-06, 02:07 PM | Well, I don't know if Ruby's unique, but I think I'm the only 12th level druid-mutt with a Dire Tiger (Drd 3/Rgr2/BM1/WPO2/HO4). Then again, she used to be a Suel Ftr2/Bbn1/Rog2/Sor1/SD2, also not very unique. Oh, and there once was a little halfling here in the CoU with a 100% xp reduction, at least, I think he finally got that high. |
| _m_11-26-06, 05:43 PM | 100% xp penalty? lol. though that would be kind of cool if you took your last class at 15, so that you never had to retire. its kind fo not alowed though, but meh. |
| Britt11-26-06, 06:03 PM | No kinda, definitely not allowed. |
| _m_11-26-06, 06:05 PM | No kinda, definitely not allowed. shhhh! i was trying to be subtle :D but yeah, that would make for stupidly overgeared toons. |
| Halworth11-26-06, 08:59 PM | Okay okay. I think I'm the only 'Grappling Monk' with 7 attacks per round, 5 of which are made with a Magical/Holy/Bane(evil outsider) Gauntlet made out of Starmetal. Anybody? |
| _m_11-26-06, 10:10 PM | Okay okay. I think I'm the only 'Grappling Monk' with 7 attacks per round, 5 of which are made with a Magical/Holy/Bane(evil outsider) Gauntlet made out of Starmetal. Anybody? you arent really a grapling monk if your making that many crazy attacks... do you have like, earths embrace, or maybe some reaping mauler levels... but i dont personally know any grappling monks... so... |
| Lupo11-27-06, 08:13 AM | Okay okay. I think I'm the only 'Grappling Monk' with 7 attacks per round, 5 of which are made with a Magical/Holy/Bane(evil outsider) Gauntlet made out of Starmetal. Anybody? and how are you using a non monk weapon in a flurry????? i wouldn't let you get away with this at a table i dm, sorry. ciao martin m. ps: that is the downside of a monk's unarmed attacks, in LG you cannot get any fancy stuff on your unarmed monk's attacks. |
| Alpha_Nerd11-27-06, 04:39 PM | I'm pretty sure in the FAQ it says you can flurry with a gauntlet specifically |
| _m_11-27-06, 05:16 PM | this is already being argued elsewhere. dont twist my beautiful thread away from charactery goodness :D |
| trollbill11-27-06, 05:26 PM | I think I have the highest level half-orc barbarian/cleric of Kord with a goat (brixishulty) named 'Fluffy.' I'm also a little surprised I haven't seen any other sorcerers with Draconic Heritage feats. Mine's 6th right now. |
| Lupo11-27-06, 05:28 PM | I'm pretty sure in the FAQ it says you can flurry with a gauntlet specifically faq (Main35FAQv11222006) page 12: You can’t use a dagger with a flurry of blows at all. When you use the flurry ability, you must attack with either unarmed strikes or with special monk weapons. Only six of the latter are included in the Player’s Handbook (kama, nunchaku, quarterstaff, sai, shuriken, and siangham). A natural weapon (any natural weapon) is neither an unarmed strike nor a special monk weapon, so you can’t use it along with a flurry. and page 13: Technically, a gauntlet isn’t an unarmed strike (it has a separate line on Table 7–5: Weapons in the Player’s Handbook), and thus can’t be used as part of a flurry of blows. A monk could wear gauntlets and still use flurry of blows, she just couldn’t attack with the gauntlets as part of the flurry (she’d be using her feet, elbows, knees, and so forth instead). If that’s too much hairsplitting for you, treat a gauntlet attack as effectively identical to an unarmed strike, except that it always deals lethal damage (even when worn by a monk). Many magic items called gauntlets aren’t necessarily using the same terminology. Gauntlets of ogre power, for example, aren’t always metal gloves. It’s conceivable that a monk might be wearing magic gauntlets that grant a special benefit on her unarmed strikes without those gauntlets also serving as weapons in their own right. In this case, the monk is making unarmed strike attacks, not gauntlet attacks. so it is clear that any special enchanted gauntlets that are used as weapons cannot be used in a flurry. ciao martin m. |
| Qworg11-27-06, 09:08 PM | My Halfling Charger just hit 12th - Paladin 10/Cavalier 1/Marshal 1 He's taking Cavalier for the rest of his career. He deals big damage - and even bigger damage to evil things (268 just two weeks ago). He rides Gradishar, his certed Celestial riding dog - with Dash and Fleet of Foot. =) I've never had the chance to play with another non druid size small rider, so I guess I'm pretty unique. |

| DuctShuiTengu11-27-06, 11:55 PM | Also on page 13 of the FAQ: Can a monk treat an attack with a gauntlet as an unarmed strike? A monk could wear such an item and treat it as an unarmed strike (since the Player’s Handbook says that “a strike with a gauntlet is . . . considered an unarmed attack”), although the damage dealt by the gauntlet would always be considered lethal damage (as noted in the gauntlet entry) and the monk would suffer a nonproficiency penalty (since the gauntlet is a simple weapon). The monk could even use gauntlet attacks as part of a flurry of blows. Emphasis mine. Back on topic though, I think I may have the only Dwarven Marshal. (It fit the flavor I was going for, though the -2 charisma hurts) |
| Gwumph11-29-06, 05:29 AM | I have noticed that no-one is claiming Hex-Blade rights or Swashbuckler rights??? Strange i thought those would be very popular!! |
| clik_ml11-29-06, 08:45 AM | I have noticed that no-one is claiming Hex-Blade rights or Swashbuckler rights??? Strange i thought those would be very popular!! It's an odious honor, highest level in the worst possible base classes? |
| Mithreinmaethor11-29-06, 04:45 PM | i dont know a hexblade/marshal with a blink dog familiar isnt bad. not that i have one but its a cool concept. |
| Dragon912-03-06, 11:37 PM | I think the two most unique characters out there have to be straight Fighter 15 and straight Rogue 15. Come on, fess up, anyone got one? I have a Fighter 12. :) He won't make 15 though. i will retire him in another level or two as I despise "High Level" D&D. It's too video game-ish for me. As for a PC of my own... I have a Fighter 3/Rogue 3/Favored Soul 1/Master Thrower 1/Invisible Blade 1 she can feint in melee or at range, and can sneak attack undead, yee hah! Get her a level in Sorcerer and she sneak attack constructs too! :D Only problem is she is a weak 9. But she has+20 to Bluff and a +18 in Sleight of Hand, so anythign she tries to Feit, she generally succeeds... except those darned Fairy Dragons... grrr... |
| Japangirl12-04-06, 03:59 PM | Invisible Blades don't get the feint stuff until levels 3, 4, and 5. So you're still feinting as a standard action right now. |
| Reylance12-04-06, 05:46 PM | I think I have the highest level half-orc barbarian/cleric of Kord with a goat (brixishulty) named 'Fluffy.' I'm also a little surprised I haven't seen any other sorcerers with Draconic Heritage feats. Mine's 6th right now. I just created a sorcerer with the Draconic Heritage feat. I'm now 2nd level. And Fluffy is a very common name for animals that should never be named Fluffy. |
| Dragon912-04-06, 07:35 PM | Invisible Blades don't get the feint stuff until levels 3, 4, and 5. So you're still feinting as a standard action right now. Actually no... it's all move action for her. She took Imp. Feint much eariler in her career. So Imp Feint and Sneaky Shot from Master Thrower allow move action "feints" in either melee or ranged. Which is a good thing for her because she rarely gets a flank and she is sorely ineffective without her sneak attack dice (STR 10). |
| trollbill12-05-06, 10:10 AM | I just created a sorcerer with the Draconic Heritage feat. I'm now 2nd level. You will soon discover Draconic Breath rocks big time. At 6th level I have only one damaging spell in my arsenal (Magic Missile) because Draconic Breath covers just about any other use I have for one. It is scalable with level, manipulative enough to usually catch the enemy without catching most or any of your party (never caught more than one party member and that less than a 10th of the time). Since it is a supernatural ability instead of a spell, it bypasses SR and does not provoke an AoO to use it. Nor can it be countered or disrupted. You can use it when entangled, bound, grappled or otherwise immobilized by anything short of actual paralysis. The only thing that stops it is energy resistance/immunity, and if I can ever get a hold of that 5th-level Breath Substitution spell, that won't be an issue either. For a sorcerer it is just fabulous, freeing up valuable slots you would otherwise need to fill with damaging spells. The only disadvantage to it is that using it seems to horrify the opposition so much you become the immediate target of importance. Be prepared to be the guy the DM picks on. |
| _m_12-06-06, 05:22 PM | dakon greenstar adept barbarian with blink dog familiar. |
| clannagh12-06-06, 05:56 PM | dakon greenstar adept barbarian with blink dog familiar. I still have serious doubts about whether you are able to give that Dakron cohort of yours starmetal access that belongs to your main character :) That might need triad ruling at some point, especially before you take it to any cons. But yes a Dakron green star adept certianly qualifies as "unique". |
| Ramacass12-07-06, 04:32 AM | I think North Star my fem lesbian, spring attacking cleric of farlanghn is pretty special. Any other clerics of Farlanghn. |
| jhorred12-08-06, 12:29 AM | Hex-blade is a weak class? Hmmm, maybe that will be my next character to see if I can get it to work. |
| Mattastrophic12-13-06, 10:05 PM | I've never met another Virtuoso before. Am I the only one? -Matt |
| Mommy was an Orc12-14-06, 01:39 PM | Hex-blade is a weak class? Hmmm, maybe that will be my next character to see if I can get it to work. Their abilities don't really justify a huge charisma, they don't have a great AC, yet they don't really have a true job except frontline fighter. At which point, they've got that lousy Fort save to worry about. Dips in Barbarian or Fighter and/or classes with a big Charisma ability are the way to make 'em work. Barbarian 1/Marshal 1/Hexblade 11/Outcast Champion 2 as an example - Charisma gets just enough of a workout to be worthwhile, yet at the same time, Fort Save and damage get a nice boost. |
| Lomiat12-14-06, 05:33 PM | I've never met another Virtuoso before. Am I the only one? -Matt I played with a Virtuoso in the Duchy of Urnst. That's the only one of which I know. |
| Mattastrophic12-14-06, 09:06 PM | I played with a Virtuoso in the Duchy of Urnst. That's the only one of which I know. That one was prooooobably me, actually. -Matt aka Solaufyn, Grey Elf Virtuoso12 |
| Frumpkis12-16-06, 04:39 AM | There's another Virtuoso in the Duchy (well, kinda in the Duchy....the player lives in British Columbia, which is now the region of Zeif, but this particular character was created in the Duchy days) - the great Decius of Urnst. However, I believe he is 1 mod away from retirement. |
| Mattastrophic12-16-06, 01:57 PM | WOW! Do we know what his build was? -Matt |
| _m_12-18-06, 05:22 PM | i know a level 2 character who is 1 barbarian, 1 dark template :D at least he used to be. hes probably lvld by now. |
| Frumpkis12-19-06, 08:19 AM | WOW! Do we know what his build was? -Matt Not sure. I think like Bard 9, Virt 6? His character's so famous that he was even written into a Sultanate of Zeif mod, as an NPC of sorts (although Decius never actually appeared in the mod; he was just mentioned). Frumpkis Whifflepuff Dingledoink Bimpersnickle, my primary bard/sublime chord PC, is waiting for his day in the spotlight. *sigh* |
| hoosierhayeslpe12-19-06, 11:38 AM | I am running Fausto!, Marshal 4 / Rogue 1 / Ranger 1 / Sorcerer 1. He can bluff, diplomacize, intimidate, and buff out the party's initiative, then he hides in the corner with a "blades of fire" glaive trying to stay out of the way. Fausto! was built to be feint sneak attacker (his other sorcerer spell is insightful feint) but somehow ended up like this. I have no idea where to go with him next. I also have a Favored Soul of Tsolonadril, but I am sure I am not the only one to cheese their way into spiked chain use. I may be the only one to have a Favored Soul who looks like Pinhead (his name is Barker):) BTW, what the heck is a dark template, and where can I get one? |
| LachlarlanIII12-19-06, 02:36 PM | Wizard 5/ Alienist 1 He's the best Alienist because he's the only one I know of in my area! |
| _m_12-19-06, 04:53 PM | BTW, what the heck is a dark template, and where can I get one? dark template gives a stack of yummy bonuses from the plane of shadow, mostly hiding and the like. very roguey and you can't get one. |
| Mattastrophic12-22-06, 01:08 AM | Yeah, I know that feeling. Someday... *sigh* |
| ranagrande12-22-06, 11:01 AM | My level 2 Monk grappler has gotten knocked unconscious at least once in every mod he's played, and he's been at -9 hp twice. |
| Randall Montgomery12-22-06, 01:38 PM | I'm playing Devlin Rainguard, a Wizard 7/Fatespinner 4. While the build probably isn't that unique, except that he's got a cat familiar and the Eschew Materials feat, to my knowledge he is the only Wizard I've known who has grappled a Beholder (for that matter, he's the only character I know of who's grappled a Beholder). :D |
| nobodez12-27-06, 02:07 PM | (for that matter, he's the only character I know of who's grappled a Beholder). :D Wait, that's the standard Beholder Combat tactic here in the County of Urnst. Of course, that's only the first part of the tactic, the second involves a portable hole, and the third involves a ten minute wait. Of course, now-a-days, my dire tiger does most of my grappling for me. (stupid reincarnation!) |
| Gwumph12-27-06, 11:52 PM | Are there any Clerics or Paldins of Muamman Duathal out there?? Gwumph 5th level character that is a Paladin of Muamman Duathal. Just wondering if any cousins also following his word and taking care of wayward Dwarves. I have never met any so far, i am the only follower of Muamman Duathal that i know of. Does that count as unique?? Cheers Gwumph |
| Sutro12-30-06, 01:19 AM | I know there's been some in the past, but I think I may be one of the only people with an active Knight of the Chase character. Trithereony goodness. |
| gomeztoo12-31-06, 10:13 AM | Tritheronites... my CG PC has found that while their ethics seem in line with what she herself believes (up to a point), they also seem to be remarkably dumb (with a few exceptions) and exceptionally fanatic. When they start killing people over a bunch of wood, it's a fair sign that they are a bit odd in the head... Ow, and fem lesbians (I guess there are male lesbians too)... Nessie has met a fair share, but she still hasn't grasped the concept yet. |
| Munkwunk01-02-07, 04:33 AM | I have a couple of rather interesting and, dare I say, unique characters. Gurt: NG Human (Flan) barbarian 11 (almost 12). No multiclassing. It's not entirely unique on its own (though we've already determined that straight-class barbarians are rare), but he's probably the only straight-classed barbarian out there who can auto-tumble and speak (but not read/write) seven different languages (and climbing). He is also (and I would almost bet my life on it) the only person to ever power attack anything with a stuffed parrot. Mortifice: LG Half-orc cleric 10 (no multiclasses) of Mayaheine. Not only are straight-class clerics of Mayaheine rather rare, the fact that he's a half-orc makes him all the more special. I've never encountered another, for what it's worth. Aldari: NG Touv cleric 4 of Nola (aiming at Radiant Servant of Nola). She's 53 years old and aiming to be one of the few, if not only, clerics/radiant servants of Nola in the campaign. I'd love to meet another cleric of Nola, or any other Touv character for that matter (I really don't encounter them very often). |
| gomeztoo01-02-07, 08:07 AM | Come to think of it, I guess my waste druid, Voa "I am the Waste" Zinavovrack, is pretty unique. She is a follower of Joramy, a Suel walking around with a permanent sunburn. She played part of the Bright Sand series. I figure she is pretty unique in that she is one of the few (if not the only) PC that DOESN'T want the Bright to be restored to fertile lands. She stayed behind in "Time's Tide". I am actually concidering to not let her come back at all (which would mean I have to finish the series with another char). |
| LachlarlanIII01-02-07, 01:39 PM | I had a ranger devoted to him at one point. Though, that character is now out of circulation. Are there any Clerics or Paldins of Muamman Duathal out there?? Gwumph 5th level character that is a Paladin of Muamman Duathal. Just wondering if any cousins also following his word and taking care of wayward Dwarves. | paigeoliver01-03-07, 08:58 AM | Dwarven Marshalls are actually not all that rare. I saw two at the last convention I went to and I remember playing with another one about 6 months ago. Actually I think I see more Dwarven Marshalls than I do pure archers. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a REAL archer at a table. When I say REAL archer I mean an honest to goodness archer with point blank shot, precise shot and rapid shot. I do however see lots of characters using ranged weapons without archery feats, or ranged characters based on skirmish damage (WHY????). Also on page 13 of the FAQ: Emphasis mine. | NeSoDak01-05-07, 06:50 PM | Alright, couldn't resist a post here. I believe I have a unique character. He is my first ever LG character and was created off of an idea from a friend. Meet Alton Underbough, he's a 9th level fighter. Doesn't sound unique? Well I believe he is the only Halfling who is a Griffon Riding Spearchucker. Next level I get Power Throw. And, because of a couple of mods he's played in, his skin is ebony in color, hair is snow white, he doesn't have a heart beat and he carries a spear he calls "Baator's Bane" as his primary weapon. Baator's Bane: +2 Sacred Bane (Evil Outsider) Cold Iron spear. The perfect weapon for destroying the minions of IUZ. Oh, and he often travels with a cleric of Heironeous who casts (shoot, forgot the name of the spell and don't have my books handy.) the spell that allows me to do an extra 2d6 damage to all CE creatures. It's the opposite alignment of his god. And I know which ones they are. Its a lot of fun to play IUZ scenarios with him. mark aka - Alton Underbough - Halfling Griffon Rider of the Shield Lands "Death to Iuz and his pathetic minions." |

| Lomiat01-08-07, 11:18 PM | I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a REAL archer at a table. When I say REAL archer I mean an honest to goodness archer with point blank shot, precise shot and rapid shot. My brother's halfling druid would have been a REAL archer, too, by the time he hit 6th level if he kept playing him. Pure produce flame archery... I think he missed twice in 20 or so mods. Plus, he played with Bards nearly all the time, so he was shooting flame at 4th level for 1d6+7 with touch attacks. We've got lots of actual archer-types, though, in the Shield Lands. Rangers are treated quite nicely, here, as is our high-level Rogue with Cohort of Improved Invisibility. |
| The_Grey_Ranger01-12-07, 02:53 AM | I currently have a Rogue 3/Fighter 2/Barbarian 2/Pious Templar 5, and while I'm sure he's not too unique in his class choices, I'm pretty sure he's the only character that someone has played as their main since year 1 and still hasn't retired. 8 Deaths sets you back a bit. You'd be incorrect with that assumtion. I have a 6 fighter/1Exotic Weapon Master/6 Dwarven Defender/1 Rogue that has been in play since year 1 with 0 deaths so far. Up until the last rebuild he was a fighter 12. |
| Swiftbrook01-12-07, 06:35 AM | You'd be incorrect with that assumtion. I have a 6 fighter/1Exotic Weapon Master/6 Dwarven Defender/1 Rogue that has been in play since year 1 with 0 deaths so far. Up until the last rebuild he was a fighter 12. Am I missing something here? The last legal rebuild that I know of was three years ago when LG converted from 3.0 to 3.5. -Swiftbrook |
| pedr01-12-07, 07:49 AM | There were two: one to convert from 3.0 to 3.5, but which left the (3.0) 'builder books' in, then one to remove the builder book material. Both were full-scale re-builds, I believe, though I didn't start playing until the end of Year 3, so only went through one - used it to remove the 'mounted combat' feat my Cleric of Pelor took :) (my first-ever 3E character... not my fault I didn't quite know what to pick!) Oh, and I think that we in the UK still have a few surviving Year 1 characters - though I believe most people started playing Year 1 mods in Year 2. We're just beginning to experience retirement over here - I think that we now have five retired characters, including one played by someone who lived in the US for three years! |
| Cardinal Teplin01-13-07, 08:28 PM | My primary, a gnomish Shifter-> MoMFs started in year 1. He's about 5 or so mods from retirement. I suspect the most 'unique character' I've had in LG is my bodybuilder. He's basically a suel barbarian Marshal (sounds strange but fits in with the Bright Sands background quite well) who is very good at inspiring others to great feats of atheletics. He also has a habit of doing exercises when bored, restless, or talking to someone and not knowing what to say. The weirdest time was forgoing armour for an entire mod so he could wander around bare-chested, and flex at people. I wasn't sure he would work out, but people seem to like playing with him. |
| Calinon01-14-07, 02:53 AM | My primary character is a Fighter (2), Cleric (8), Warpriest (2). Can't think that I've met any other warpriests yet. He is fairly unique background wise as well. He started off (background wise) as a priest of Pelor who was drained by a vampire. Feeling Pelor turned his back on him, he turned to Tritherion (and started his LG career). He was, at this point, a brute; rude, intimidating, vengeful and considered flight before fight most of the time. After one very unfortunate adventure, Tritherion sent two of his solars to smite he and his party. While he took no part in the battle, the fact they were going to destroy him was rather depressing. Through a stroke of good luck, he soon met a very noble priestess of Pelor on a quest, and through her actions and sacrifice was convinced to return to Pelor's fold. An atonement later, he acquired the priestesses fallen husband's sword and has been a far nobler and better man since. |
| Iswald01-14-07, 03:00 AM | Am I missing something here? The last legal rebuild that I know of was three years ago when LG converted from 3.0 to 3.5. Some PCs may not have been played since the last rebuild and so could still be converted using currently legal material. |
| cycloptic_squirrel01-14-07, 03:43 AM | More of a group of unique group of PCs: Underpants gnomes. 'nuf said I usually pity the person who sits at a table with 5 of us there. |
| Cardinal Teplin01-14-07, 09:13 AM | My girlfriend's ballarina character was reasonably unusual. Using the various low level bardic spells she could do the entire anime style magical girl transformation sequence, never went without backing orchestra, and could do the compulsory glitter and lights thing pretty well. The scary thing was the high DC will save not to join in. Higher levels were going to feature shadow conjured backing dancers and illusory sets, but she's not yet got that high level. Making that character concept LG legal was a challenge. I'm starting to think that when designing a character it's much better to start from a concept, and go on from there. H |
| Mommy was an Orc01-14-07, 12:47 PM | I suspect the most 'unique character' I've had in LG is my bodybuilder. He's basically a suel barbarian Marshal (sounds strange but fits in with the Bright Sands background quite well) who is very good at inspiring others to great feats of atheletics. He also has a habit of doing exercises when bored, restless, or talking to someone and not knowing what to say. I think we had an odd conversation online when I posted something almost identical to that on lgchardiscussion. Have you read Doom Patrol by Grant Morrison at all? |
| Cardinal Teplin01-19-07, 08:01 AM | A little.. Why? |
| Mommy was an Orc01-19-07, 09:08 AM | A little.. Why? The character of Flex Mentallo, the one who can affect reality by flexing his muscles. He's a parody of the bad Charles Atlas ad. |
| RanielK01-19-07, 01:29 PM | My sorcerer may be the highest-level wild mage in play, currently sorcerer 6 / wild mage 5. My L2 sorcerer (with no ranks in Perform) has not yet managed to get below 20 on a perform check with her amazing crumhorn ;) Well, my Wiz 8/Ftr 1/Spellsword 1/Wild Mage 2 ray mage would have kept on going in Wild mage. Then he got stuck in a glacier this time last year. In exchange, I've got a Dark Aasimar Sorcerer 3 who is considering Wizzy 3/UMag X because of the already 2 level hit I've taken. Either that or straight Sorcerer, not sure which yet. |
| Vledryn01-21-07, 08:56 AM | Probably already done, but here goes, Ranger 3, Hexblade 3, Red Dragon Disciple 3. Will be 4,4,6 when completed. This is a two weapon weilding wild elf which will have breath weapon ability extreme ac for a non shield wielding non dex elf. Not only is he nasty to stand toe to toe with he wields 2x Silvered Elf thinblades of shocking burst with improved critical. The point of the build is to maximize damage and ac while being able to keep both hands in the action. Suffice to say in a fight hes an excellent character to have nearby. The only thing I am not sure of is if he can take another character class, as in does the prestige class count as one of his three char classes? I noticed some builds in this thread have four. I dunno, if he can I will probably drop in 3 levels of fighter to round him out. |
| Japangirl01-21-07, 01:36 PM | PrCs never count against your "class limit" for the purposes of XP penalties. They aren't classes per se, but rather specializations. Hero-classes, if you want. |

Ed He probably got it from the Castle Greyhawk special. There was an item that a person from every table had a chance of getting that gave the access. IIRC, it fused into your forehead, but it did give the access. :D |
| viceregal01-21-07, 07:52 PM | My two mains - one is possibly up there for hightest of breed the other is definitely unique. Best of Breed ... Monk2/Sor3/Enlightened Fist 8 .... anyone got an EF9? Unique - Spirit Shaman 12 (won access in the last survey). (I carry a Spirit Shaman Basics sheet with me for DM's not used to it to use!) Warren |

| Crazy Boro01-23-07, 10:31 PM | where on earth did you get a spirit shaman? i didnt know they were legal at all. He said he won access to it through a survey contest. It's not the only odd thing that has been given out. 2 others through contests I can think of offhand (IIRC) was a goblin which the player made into a paladin and another got access to make a half-ogre(or giant? can't remember the exact template). The latter I think goes by the name of Thromp and is a bard. There have most likely been a few more oddities given out, but those are the ones I've heard of. |
| LachlarlanIII01-24-07, 10:01 AM | I'm not sure whether he's talking about Living Greyhawk. Dragon Disciple - Red isn't listed in the LGCS, so it would require campaign documentation. Ed The real question is how he qualified for DD in the first place. Unless I'm mistaken, Hexblades don't gain the ability to cast spells until 4th level. And if I am mistaken, I have a couple character builds to look at. |

| Camden01-24-07, 03:20 PM | I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a REAL archer at a table. When I say REAL archer I mean an honest to goodness archer with point blank shot, precise shot and rapid shot. *waves* Real Archer here - 11 levels of Fightery Archer goodness (and a couple of OoB, so not a 'pure fighter') I got my Point Blank, Precise, Rapid, Imp Rapid, IPS, and even Ranged Disarm (amongst other Feats...) :) |
| smerwin2901-24-07, 03:28 PM | Oh, and I think that we in the UK still have a few surviving Year 1 characters - though I believe most people started playing Year 1 mods in Year 2. We're just beginning to experience retirement over here - I think that we now have five retired characters, including one played by someone who lived in the US for three years! Please tell me Dung Beatle is retired. . . . |
| Camden01-24-07, 03:40 PM | Please tell me Dung Beatle is retired. . . . lol I think Dung is still about... |

| smerwin2901-24-07, 06:07 PM | Yes, there are many of us, er, I mean, many of them: Hoseh Beatle, Stagg Beatle, Gronk Beatle, and a few others. My favorite is Putrid Flatulence Beatle. He's most like his mum. |

I also think there was a 2nd one there that Chuck played as. I ended up with 2 of them at once if it is the case. :D |
| _m_01-29-07, 04:48 PM | i feel left out. who on earth are all these beatles? |
| RedKnightofKet01-29-07, 06:43 PM | Well, there was John, Paul, George, and Ringo...oh, not those Beatles? In that case I don't know :P |
| Camden01-29-07, 06:48 PM | Well, there was John, Paul, George, and Ringo...oh, not those Beatles? In that case I don't know :P Just thank yourself lucky you don't know. I'll leave people that have been on a table with her to explain... Dung Beetle is a femal Half Orc monk, that either walks around naked, or in a wedding dress, hails from Onwall ( i think) but has left her 'impression' on a few other domains... |
| smerwin2901-29-07, 07:14 PM | i feel left out. who on earth are all these beatles? Let's just say that there are some disturbing characters out there. And Dung Beatle is the queen of them. In her (dis)honor, a few of us created her children. We try, but nothing is as disturbing as the original. |
| pedr01-29-07, 07:59 PM | Now as it seems that the vast majority of you don't have to worry about encountering such a ... Pete, who should get to more UK conventions! If your at Conception, I believe Dung is putting in an appearence for some LG. But as for elevating the player ? Wouldn't be good. Not at all...if he has such an (in)famous persona in LG, and the worlds most dubious character in Sarb, would that be a good idea ? |
| pedr01-29-07, 09:32 PM | No Conception for pedr :( Dratted, blasted thesis... I knew I should have done at least some work over the last 2 1/2 years .... ;) |
| LachlarlanIII01-30-07, 12:02 PM | I forgot to mention. My insane alienist also happens to be a professor at the University of Greyhawk for one month of the year. Thousands of Alienists are going to be crawling over the Flaeness (sp?) when I'm done with it! :D |

| jstorrie01-30-07, 11:59 PM | I'm currently running a Bladesinger - an all ten levels of Bladesinger Bladesinger - but he's early in his life cycle, so hardly unique yet. |
| clannagh01-31-07, 12:54 AM | i know a level 2 character who is 1 barbarian, 1 dark template :D at least he used to be. hes probably lvld by now. what would happen if they lost alevel ? could you just be a template ????? |

| Istaran02-06-07, 07:41 PM | I once reincarnated someone and they came back as an alienist. I'm not sure that was supposed to be possible. |
| Eric Anondson02-07-07, 01:14 AM | I guess I have a rather unique character. I posted about my dilemma for choosing his next class level once he reaches level 15 over on this thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=785603). Basically his primary weapon is his spiked heavy shield, with his off hand attack being an unarmed hand. Allows him to cast spells and Deflect Arrows. Ranger 3/ex-Monk 2/Barbarian 1/Fighter 1/Holy Liberator of Trithereon 7 Is he the highest level Holy Liberator in the campaign? I haven't heard of any of equal or higher. He's the only character I have heard of that can either stun from Stunning Fist, or daze from a Shield Slam. Plus, the +3 adamantine spiked heavy shield of bashing, with keen, ghost touch, and spell storing weapon enhancements might be one of the more unique weapons out there. A one-handed weapon that deals 2d6 points of dice damage, functions as a ghost touch weapon as well as providing incorporeal touch shield AC. Telling DM's he has a keened shield is fun. Plus, now that he can cast 4th level Holy Liberator spells, he can cast holy sword on his shield. As a Shield Lander, he enjoys that he can finally taunt Knights of Holy Shielding noting that it is with the power of Trithereon that he carries a TRUE holy shield. |

| dkay80702-08-07, 05:33 PM | Before the CY595 Conversion, I played a rather famous Lasher. Nym Greenbottle, 16th level Halfling Rogue 3/Fighter 4/Lasher 9. They made me lose Lasher right before I got Death Spiral! From my experiences, a small-sized PC has never dealt that much damage - 7 attacks a round with a +1 adamantine holy wounding whip dagger, using two-handed power attack with an insane attack bonus flying with 15 foot reach, DC 24 stunning snap each round, adding 5d6 sneak attack damage per smack. I re-tooled him into a Monk 2/Fighter 4/Dervish 10 with two adamantine wounding scimitars, one holy as well. That was fun, but nowhere near as fun as Lasher. Also, attacking Elementals was like fighting with a wet noodle. He retired in a cinematic triad auto-death after he killed Evard (yes, Evard like the Tentacles). So I think I win there for both Lasher and Dervish. That same year, I also retired Lord Olaf Tharand, Dwarf Paladin 3/Fighter 4/Exotic Weapon Master 1/Dwarven Defender 9. Needless to say, he was a beast in terms of attack, damage, saves and an unhittable AC. Great roleplaying PC - made a big name for himself in Tusmit thanks to three special missions (think munchkin and the "really impressive title" card). I'm sure there are higher level Dwarven Defenders now, but at the time, there weren't. I know some guy Don Wolf from BK had a high level Dwarven Defender around the same time. I currently play a Dwarf Fighter 2/Wizard 4/Spellsword 9. I won't talk him up because he hasn't retired yet and that's just poor form ;) Are there any level 10 Spellswords out there in the HL campaign? Were there any before the retooling? |
| _m_02-08-07, 06:48 PM | ok, new subtact: heres a shoutout to all the characters who, KNOW they are mechanically (because imo, EVERY well roleplayed character is unique, regardless of build (though i love some more than others */waves at gem, princess and az*) unique. for example, access that no1 else has, like the spirit shamn dude. there is, unless im greatly mistaken, only ONE spirit shaman in lgh. or a class that u are the only one to have any levels in. again, i could be mistaken, but i think maesto is the only archmage. and im fair certain alvin is the only dark templated noctumancer :D (i would say only noctumancer, but i think crystalblue is running a rhod heading that way). |
| jstorrie02-08-07, 07:30 PM | You know, Eric, I'm pretty sure that if you give a shield the ghost touch weapon enhancement, it doesn't automatically get the armor enhancement of the same name... |

| sparklegrimjaws02-09-07, 09:04 AM | I may be the highest level Virtuoso out here in Keoland and he is the only Exemplar I know of too. He also has Reqeium (sp) and Subsonics and Mobile Spellcasting I have a Gnome Bard 7 Virtuoso 5 Marshal 1 Sublime Chord 1 Exemplar 1 I usually go Extended Swift Invisible, Harmonic Chorus plus move due to Mobile then Jarring Song as a move action due to the spell Harmonic. Nothing better than shutting down the baddie spellcaster when he/she/it has to make a DC 52 concentration check to cast a spell. Unless they have see invisible, they have no idea where the sound is coming from PLUS it works on liches. Next round I try and Hide so see invisible doesn't work once my swift spell goes away. Oh, my +3 inspire courage helps too (next level it becomes +4) |
| smerwin2902-09-07, 02:06 PM | I may be the highest level Virtuoso out here in Keoland and he is the only Exemplar I know of too. Just don't ask him to figure his armor class . . . or identify the difference between a d8 and a d10. Or roll above a 3 when it matters. :evillaugh |
| Seera02-12-07, 01:15 AM | Allright, I'll go ahead and weigh in on this one since I am the highest level Asherati I know of. Agran of the Bright Desert C/N Asherati Cleric 5/ Divine Oracle 3/ Earthdreamer 3 I started taking Divine Oracle levels in response to the events in Times Tide on Bright Sands. There's nothing like *knowing* that you were the cleric that taught his newly-created race about the gift of life granted by Geshtai. The Earthdreamer, meanwhile, started as I realized that I was moving too far away from my earth-based heritage. In two levels I'll be swimming through the ground as though it were sand. Regardless, I pride myself on my morality. After a month or two in Dyvers (Scary water . . .!) I spent loads of time arguing with the locals about the practice of slavery. After all, is it any less foul to steal property from slavers than to keep slaves? Since then I never do favors for the Dyvers Antislavery League for fear that I may be overcome with a desire to thwart the mission. After that I traveled to the Bandit Kingdoms to discover that they I was wanted by the Church of Iuz. A few favors for the right person (Xavandra, Priestess of Iuz) and I no longer feared the local priesthood. Plus, I also got the opportunity to banish a pair of Hound Archons and recently a Planetar. I have balanced these acts with "good acts" but those are never any fun to recount :D . Charlie S |

| ZX67002-13-07, 02:12 PM | Britt, Morganstaller at the recent Owlcon interactive was down 414 before he used his scroll of teleport to run away. The cleric who cast Power Word Blind the round before was unable to surpass his SR, and the other cleric at the table failed on his dispel check to dispell the teleport (was from some item which can do a counter or dispell as an immediate action), otherwise things would have gotten extremely interesting. Had the character I'm about to list hit him even a few times, things might have been different, but on about 25-30 attack rolls on him, I think I rolled over a 10 twice. Anyhow, my character is a bit unique I feel, but he's certainly not the best at anything. Currently, he's Ranger 11, Order of the Bow Initiate 2 and Horizon Walker 1. Stats are: Str 12 Dex 23 (soon to be 25 with an upgrade to +6 gloves) Con 16 Int 10 Wis 18 Cha 08 As a High elf, he's a bit more thick than most other elves and very wise for his class type. He can see greatly in any type of light (Hor Walker level was Underground, so he has Darvision and lowlight. Took the level of Hor Walker through role play, as the character's best friend, a dwarf, invited him to his Hill Home for the rest of the year after we both expended our TU's, then came the respec to the 3.5 books the month after the beginning of the year, and took the level of Hor Walker to show the time spent underground), and with his high Wis, Dark Blue Rhomboid Ioun stone (I think that's the one, giving Alertness) and being an elf, his Spot and Listen checks unbuffed are at a +25 each. His 16 Con is natural, and with his Improved Toughness feat, he usually asks for or casts a Bear's Endurance for himself before fights and walks in as the Secondary Tank with 157 hps. With a self Barkskin and two Magic Vest.'s, his AC can get up to 31. Additional buffs can raise this even more. I still go down rather quickly, though, hehe. I went the archer route in ranger levels and have a +1 Fierce Holy Comp. Longbow (+1 str). Favored enemies are human, undead and Evil Outsiders. I also have Improved Favored Enemy. Unbuffed, I have a +21 to hit. In the fight against Morgy, I had a +31 and still failed to hit his raging 46-47 AC due to poor die rolls, though :( Anyhow, I think he's pretty unique mainly due to his ability scores which are a bit odd for an elven archer, but I like him and he's certainly fun to play. Now, for completely unique, before the rebuild from the old 3.0 books, my current Druid 10 was a Druid 5/Oozemaster 1. Only Oozemaster I've ever heard of and I wish I could have gotten him higher than just 1 level in, but wasn't in the cards. |
| Bold02-13-07, 03:20 PM | Most of my characers are decidedly NOT unique. In fact, they're nearly iconic: the dwarf fighter, the human Radiant Servant, the wood elf archer, the grey elf wizard, etc. But I'm a little surprised that some people in this thread find certain builds unique, like the Alienist PrC. In Highfolk's Clan Volmiryth, there are so many alienists that my ordinary wizard feels unique. ;) And a little freaked-out by his clansmen, at times. Creepy. I suspect there are very few members of the official meta-org of Iuz (the demigod, not the metaregion), wherein you pay 52,000 TUs to join, are instantly slain, and then animated as a zombie. I've got one already (poor Grok, my half-orc barbarian), and another on the way (poor other Grok, his identical brother). 'Course, that's by design: Grok is my "intro mod" character: upon graduating to 2nd-level, each brother Grok joins the meta-org. I think I even have the signature of Iuz himself (aka Jason Buhlman) on the first Grok's meta-org cert. I also have a druid chef who cooks his own animal companion at the conclusion of every mod (often seasoned with herbs grown with an entangle), and I'm working on a build for a high-CHA / low-INT male model Bard who breakdance-fights. That's not fascinate.. it's Blue Steel! |
| RanielK02-13-07, 04:29 PM | Allright, I'll go ahead and weigh in on this one since I am the highest level Asherati I know of. Agran of the Bright Desert C/N Asherati I have balanced these acts with "good acts" but those are never any fun to recount :D . Charlie S Yes CN is FUN! My CN Grey Elf Wild Mage was so barking mad, :twitch:  there were times his only way of communicating was through his pseudodragon familiar (who usually started conversations with "I appologize for my companion. I swear we'll pay for that.") He was so unhinged by things that happened to him in mods, the Pale triad (LN OOC as well as IC IMHO) responded to my request for a special mission with "you're right, he should be a wild mage." Of course, they followed that up with, "but are you sure you want to be one in the Pale?!?" My wife not to be outdone, plays an archer who started at the same time (both are our first LG characters) who is so LN, she insisted she be given the opportunity to disrupt my special mission to become a wild mage and have an end state where she kept me from going WM and try to "talk me down" to True Neutral at best or CG at worst. This is probably the only reason the mission was approved to begin with. But in my opinion, there is nothing like having a guy who has no idea what he's going to do from minute to minute. Hey, he was reitred from the campaign because casting that really big spell scribed on the floor in that glacier place SEEMED LIKE A GOOD IDEA AT THE TIME. But then again, when I ran Folly at GenCon SoCal back in '03, I left my table for a short time while they tried to figure out the puzzle and heckled another table of Folly (IC as the cleric of Zagyg), so maybe it's just me. :D |
| Vamroc02-14-07, 02:00 AM | Warforged LVL4 Duskblade with a +3 dex and Mithril Body feat. Oh Yeah nothin like walkin around with an 18 AC. In addition because your not concidered to be wearing armor your touch AC remains an 18. As a Duskblade you have no spell failure in light armor. It's almost as if the class was made for this race. If someone told you I'm the tank and the spell caster you'd think it's time to get off the pipe. If you get the right weapons you can wipe any thing of the board I just had the idea of using Arcane Channel with spiked chains. Not only can you trip and in the process deal a Shocking Grasp. You could Dimension Hop someone at range. Think about how that would come in handy. |
