Here are his stats (all are after what magical bonuses are added in). Human Str 10 Dex 14 Con 12 Int 20 Wis 8 Cha 18 magic items owned: cloak cha +4, headband int +2, vest resist +3 current money 16000 I do have access to buy a rod of empower lesser which i am considering. All levels are straight warmage, the AC is pretty low, only wearing chain shirt, am looking into buying a shield, and mithril heavy armor (+) ?. Current feats: improved initiative, point blank shot, precise shot, extra edge Now that i am 9th i will get a feat, and can retrain 1 other feat. The whole problem is i am finding that the build is just to plain. What can i do to spice it up some? I appriciate all your suggestions on the new level and what to retrain as well as what to attain as new feats and level and magic item. |

| Alpha_Nerd03-29-07, 09:47 AM | Personally, I would retrain Improved Init into Spell Focus: Evocation, Pick up Empower at 9th, and Retrain Extra Edge into Metamagic School Focus at 10th. |

I'd then swap PBS+PS out for the other one and pick up Spell Penetration or Spell Focus (for Met SF at 12th) ...or leave Quicken til 12th. You might also consider a few levels of Fatespinner at some point but I wouldn't take any other class. |
| Sieylianna03-29-07, 12:59 PM | You're Int is overbought imo. I would agree. He started with a 16 Int and 14 Cha and put his stat bumps into Int. He should have lots of skill points to differentiate him. Ed |

BUY AN AMULET OF HEALTH +4 ALREADY sheesh. moving along :) Current feats: improved initiative, point blank shot, precise shot, extra edge Now that i am 9th i will get a feat, and can retrain 1 other feat. The whole problem is i am finding that the build is just to plain. What can i do to spice it up some? I appriciate all your suggestions on the new level and what to retrain as well as what to attain as new feats and level and magic item. Do not buy a rod of empower. You are not a pansy wizard who needs to predetermine whether an enemy needs an empowered fireball or not. Instead take the Empower feat, and empower your lesser orbs, magic missiles, scorching rays, fireballs and lightning bolts whenever you feal like it. Use your sudden empower only on top tier slots that can't be empowered via the normal feat. Empower will translate into far more damage than your warmage edge, even with extra edge, will ever do. retraining - I'd probably retrain extra edge or precise shot (if you use rays and orbs a lot, then extra edge. If you mostly do area boom, precise shot) I would retrain into one of the following, probably along these lines: precise shot to sculpt spell (get control over your area spells) extra edge to nonlethal substitution(fire) (you have more fire spells than anything else, and warmages may want to take prisoners sometimes) The other metamagic suggestions above are also decent choices. But no matter what you do, empower spell is the closest thing to a "must have" feat for warmages that there is. I'm mildly shocked you don't have it already. You have so little metamagic right now that rapid metamagic doesn't really make sense, but might be a decent L12 pick if you follow any of this advice. |
