My current characters, in level order are:

1) 1st level fighter. Going for penalties with intimidating strike, brutal, strike, and staggering strike (will have a few rogue levels), while doing respectable damage.
2) 2nd level cleric. Not sure what I want to do with her right now with the removal of DMM and DSP.
3) 2nd level Ranger/Figher. My bright lands PC, going for Justiciar.
4) 4th level Ranger/Figher/Barbarian/Warmage. Going wildrunner+dragon disciple, basically STR *****.
5) 7th level Sorc6/Rogue1, going spellwarp sniper.
6) 9th level Fighter6/Monk2/Barb1, light infantry using anvil of thunder weapon style.
7) 11th level druid. Mounted cork.

By the time greyhawk ruins comes around, I should have my 1st level at 2, and others will probably bump up a level or so. So based on what I currently have in play, what do you think would be a good new character to round out my contribution to the campaign? No specific builds please, just general character types.

It doesn't seem that you have an archer. You could make one of those. Or you could make a straight arcanist (most likely a wizard).

Yeah, I do have builds for both of those that I'd like to try...I'm just not sure which of my tons of builds I have on deck I want to start...

Hey commoner 15, thats got class. Anyone who can do it deserves a reward. Anywh osince you dont have a wizard or a wizard, how does arcane archer sound. Its one of the classics and honestly never gets old.

Have you considered a Bard?

Definitely a different character type to play.

A spellcaster, with metamagic and crafting feats.

Go all the way, all spells, all the time....

I've certainly considered it, but for whatever reason I can't bring myself to make a skill monkey, or a bard, despite the fact that I like having them at the table. I keep trying to come up with a build I'm happy with, but can't seem to do it...

Well, my druid is pretty much that. Has full casting, extend spell, and craft wondrous item anyway...

Marshal tripper? The 4th level of marshal is always something I thought could work out well in many situations. Add in a spiked chain, few levels of knight, maybe a splash of bard...

Or you could do a warmage halfling who personified the crew of the starship enterprise. All of them. "Set phasers to acid." "Phasers set to acid, sir." "Fire!" Then let loose with the lesser acid orb. Grab arcane disciple for the travel domain. "Beam me up Scotty." Oh, and definetly have relations with every alien chick you run across.

Knight seems a bit silly to add to a tripper build

You could make a Bard -> Arcane Archer -> Sublime Chord

I had an idea that was very similar to this. Take Devoted Performer and go Bard 4/Paladin 3/Marshal 4/Knight 4. This is a very versatile, powerful charisma-based fighter type.

I think it's pretty much down to Wizard type, Archer, and skill monkey/bard...I've got builds I'm happy with for the first two...and am trying to come up with a bard build I would enjoy...

Mix the two...

I have a sorcerer/archer build I like moving up the ranks as a spellsword. Might be more powerful with arcane archer...but power wasn't the point of the character.

I'd rather have a character who is actually good at one thing than crappy at 2 things...

:D

Talk to the rest of the table.

A Manyshot after a True Strike, from a sonic weapon bow has a wonderful effect on party morale

Initially yes, but the ability to make threatened squares act as difficult terrain makes me drool. and if you're going charisma guy, knight's not a bad one for a few levels in.
