| Arcainite12-09-06, 09:49 PM | Just want to make sure before I make my Whisper Gnome swashbuckler that the Whisper Gnomes are legal as is for Living Greyhawk. I plan on building a Level 6 Swashbuckler/Level 10 Blade Bravo. Another question I have is...it seems that everybody retires at Level 16... But I have read about something called DM Challenges... Are these only done at cons for special adventures or is it just that only a certain level of Judge/DM can run them? |
| Mommy was an Orc12-09-06, 09:54 PM | Whisper Gnomes are not legal. |
| Morgen12-10-06, 04:46 AM | That is correct! Whisper Gnomes are not legal at all in LG, as are any of the alternative races in pretty much all the Races books. Human (several types. Suel, Oridian, Baklunish, Flan, and I'm sure many more, correctly spelt others) Dwarves (Hill & Mountain. Badlands until Blood in Bright sands is retired at the end of the month) Gnomes (Rock Gnomes) Elves (High, Half, Wood and Gray) Halflings (Lightfoot, Deep (Stout), Tallfellow) Half Orc (Scablands Half-orc until Blood in Brightsands is retired at the end of the month) And that's about it. If you got the card to be one, there was a chance to be a Desert Centaur, but those are long since handed out. The only race left would be an Asherati from the Sandstorm book, but like the Scablands Half Orc and the Badlands Dwarves, they're only allowed until Blood in Brightsands retires. Essentually to be any of those 4 (Centaur included) you had to go through a number of hoops. You had to play Blood on Bright Sands as their first Adventure and have thier home region set as Bright Lands. You still have a chance ot make unusual characters from this region however! Blood on Bright Sands is still a legal mod until the end of the year assuming you haven't already played it! As for the DM Challenges... Not to sure about that yet, something they are adding in to give the high level characters something to do after they retire from the main Living Greyhawk campaign at level 16. Seems like they're going to do four adventure-hooks a year and it's mostly run like a home game. You have to convert your character into it and can't play in any other LG mods anymore. |
| Shieldhart9112-10-06, 04:55 AM | It's a shame really. The DMs challenges just seem like a terrible, cumbersome idea- so it's probably just to sacrifice your PC as an NPC to the triad. Who knows? You might be pleasantly surprised to see your NPC in a module in the future. Right? |

You don't need a specific Player Rewards card to play a centaur; you need a plastic RPGA membership card (which symbolizes that you've earned at least 20 Player Rewards points), and the centaur AR, and you need to play "Blood on Bright Sands" (which retires at the end of this month) as your very first module. |

Discussions elsewhere seemed to conclude that due to the long delays in getting the cards at times some form of evidence of being signed up for rewards and hacing accumulated 20 points (for exampel a printout of your online activity listing) would be acceptable. Note .. there was no official "ruling" on this, the strict letter of the rule is you need the actual plastic card in your hot little hand. You also need a special cert but that is downloadable online (Pale website I think .. not sure). |

Interesting because I've had a "plastic" card years before I ever earned 20 points. That my explain why I was sent a second card, that I didn't request, somewhere along the line. Note of clerification. Joined the RPGA at GenCon 2000 to get the Living Greyhawk Journal (an excellent publication). Didn't play my first Living Greyhawk game (my only RPGA games) until GenCon 2004. -Swiftbrook |

And that's why you've always had one. When you joined the RPGA, it was a paid membership, and everyone had a plastic RPGA card back then. |
| Morgen12-13-06, 06:34 PM | Yeah well I want to abuse Eagle Claws so the centaur thing isn't that big a deal for me. :3 |
