My 12th level arcanist just hit 13th. He's a wizard/divine oracle/loremaster/fatespinner.

I'm thinking of retraining away improved init for something else.

I currently have:
Improved Init
Skill Focus (know rel) - for PrCs
CWI
Scribe Scroll - duh, free
Empower
Sculpt
Insightful Reflexes

Ideas? Obvious choices which come to mind are: split-ray, transdimensional, energy subst.

Are you chaotic? If you're doing it for fun, take Craft Rod and churn out a few Rods of Wonder. "Ready, Aim, Activate!" a full salvo should generate some... interesting combinations (which on average will be beneficial to the party and not good for the bad guys). :D Wrote a convention game a few years ago, with a Kendar Paladin owning one of these. Worked really well.

Rods of Empower, Immovable rods, Metal and Mineral Detection, Flame Extinguishing and Splendor are all interesting items to have; if you can get crafting access. Most of them I wouldn't pay full price for in LG (but crafting brings them within an acceptable price range).

I might change Sculpt for Quicken. Other than that, you have a good setup anyway and I'd leave as is.

Improved Init is your first level Feat?

I really wouldn't drop it but Quicken is the obvious choice that is also definitely legal. if you took it later... rather depends on what you like to cast.

In my own experience, Sculpt doesn't really come up as often at higher levels. You've got quite a range of area of effect spells, so you can pick the right one based on the situation. Also, you're going to start finding yourself very pressed for time, so much that you simply won't have time for stuff like standard-action Hastes or Glitterdusts.

-Matt doesn't even have time for Quickened Haste anymore.

My wiz just hit 13th, and I'm doing fine with the following feats (though they're hardly optimized):

1st-Scribe Scroll, Skill Focus (knowledge:religion)
3rd-Craft Wondrous
5th-Craft Magic Arms and Armor
6th-Lightning Reflexes
9th-Insightful Reflexes
11th (Loremaster)-Quicken Spell
12th-Extraordinary Spell Aim

In other words, I don't think it really matters so long as you use your spells effectively. However, Quicken Spell, as others have mentioned is great -- even as little as I've used it -- and it only gets better as you find more slots of 5th-level and higher become available as you reach higher levels. I mean, most combats only last a round or two, so if you want to cast more than one spell per combat, you've got to: A) buff people ahead of time, B) screw up and cast save-or-die spells with a low save DC, or C) Quicken another spell.

Of the various feats you've listed, the only one I find myself sometimes missing is Split Ray.

Split Ray Enervation is just yummy.
