The feats are the main thing im a little unsure on, shock trooper seems cool but im not sure if its really needed. I have thought about taking imp sunder and combat brute too but it also seems like over kill. I am also open to other ideas and class options, heard marshal may be a good fit too. Still kinda new to greyhawk highest character ive played in it is lvl 3. Half-Elf male stats str- 16 dex-10 con-14 int-10 wis-8 cha-15 1.barbarian - Power Attack 2.hexblade 3.fighter- Extra Rage, Close Quarters Combat 4.hexblade- arcane resistance, pump cha +1 5.hexblade- mettle 6.outcast champion - aura of confidence, Improved Bullrush 7.outcast champion - avenging strike 8.outcast champion - desperate fury, not sure if i should pump con, cha, str? 9.ranger or marshal?- Endurance 10.wild runner 11. wild runner- primal scream 12.outcast champion- shock trooper, not sure on stat bump 13.outcast chamion 14. wild runner or mashal or fighter? 15.wild runner or marshal? some feat? improved toughness? |

Extra rage is nice and all, but it is a feat that won't be usable in every fight, while your Marshall aura will work for you all the time. You could get the trip/disarm/bull rush aura to boost that improved bull-rush you are taking at 6th. Or if you are married to extra rage you could trade out the close quarters fighting instead. Personal suggestion is Marshall at 3, 9, 14, and 15. That gets you the full basic marshall suite of abilities. |

Even though I relize the synergy between marshal, shock trooper, and combat brute is amazing but is it worth it? I havent had a lot of exp in greyhawk as I've said but most the time at APL 2 and 4 it doesnt seem like anyone would really benefit from the bullrushes or sunders. Does this change at the higher APL's? I also keep hearing close combat fighting is really good for fighter types so they don't get killed by improved grab monsters. I think it would be pretty sad if I can make every save a wizard throws my way by if I get grabbed and eaten Im doomed. One other thing is mettle worth it? I could also chop the 3rd lvl of hexblade which would help free up space for marshal earlier if I incorporate it if it wont help that much. |

That's one of the reasons to take it early. Then Shock Trooper/Combat Brute bring tripping into the equation. The point of Shock Trooper/Combat Brute is that it lets you more fully exploit the Marshal ability, making Charisma more valuable to you(and why you should level Charisma at levels 4, 8, and 12) Just think about doing x3 Full Power Attack on a full attack with a 2-handed weapon while adding Outcast Champ dice and +2-3 damage from Combat Brute...things tend to disintegrate and you hit them because of all your bonuses to hit. And you can do this more than once a day... |
| Alpha_Nerd10-18-06, 06:25 PM | Hey MWaO, I've been looking at both Combat Brute and Shock Trooper, and I can kinda put together the synergies, but I can't fully visualize the combos that go in there. Is there any chance you could post exactly what happens when you get both those feats going? |

Is there any chance you could post exactly what happens when you get both those feats going? There's basically two manuevers: Charge, Break, and Slash - You heedless charge in, you full power attack your opponent's weapon, sunder it(as you might expect with a full power attack), then swing at your opponent. While you have exposed yourself to a full attack after heedless charging, your opponent isn't holding a weapon to swing back. You add Charisma to the Sunder Attempt. Then Momentum Swing the next round for x3 Power Attack. Bullrush, Push, Trip, Swing - you charge in, bullrush your opponent into another one, trip both of them(triggering all the Bullrush effects from the two feats). Next round, you get the bonus to hit from Advancing Blows and Momentum Swing. This can be especially fun if you push the evil BDF into the BBEG Wizard who has defensive spells that trigger when touched, into some fog/wall effect, or off a cliff. Where this synergizes with Marshal is that you're eventually getting a 24 Charisma and a 28 Strength(16 base, +2 Wildrunner, +4 Rage, +6 Item). Where the Half-Orc tweaked reckless Rage build might have a 35(20 Start, +3 levels, +6 Reckless, +6 Item). In other words, you're +8 Strength on that build for purposes of Sunder/Bullrush/Trips without being supertweaked for Strength. And you get to use a combo of Advancing Blows and the Outcast Champion 'smite' to do a free +8 or so Power Attack with Momentum Swing. Things tend to die in a cloud of vapor when you do that. |
