| LachlarlanIII02-16-07, 11:11 AM | Fighter used to be my most disliked class. However, with the new options opened by the LGCS, I now find myself constantly drawn to the class. :) Without futher ado, I present the near-pure Two-Weapon Fighter. Human Str 16, Dex 15, Con 14, Int 10, Wis 10, Cha 8 1: Fighter 1 - Quick Draw, Two-Weapon Fighting, *Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Great Scimitar) 2: Fighter 2 - *Weapon Focus (Great Scimitar) 3: Fighter 3 - Oversize Two-Weapon Fighting 4: Fighter 4 - *Weapon Specialization (Great Scimitar), Dex 16 5: Fighter 5 6: Fighter 6 - Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, *Power Attack 7: Fighter 7 8: Fighter 8 - *Melee Weapon Mastery (Slashing), Str 17 9: Fighter 9 - Improved Critical (Great Scimitar) 10: Fighter 10 - *Greater Weapon Focus (Great Scimitar) 11: Fighter 11 12: Fighter 12 - Greater Two-Weapon Fighting, *Greater Weapon Specialization (Great Scimitar), Str 18 13: Fighter 13 14: Fighter 14 - *Slashing Flurry 15: Barbarian 1 - Extra Rage *Fighter bonus feat. If using a +3 weapon, this build, at 15th level, can take 7 attacks a round (8 if Hasted), and do 1d8+16 in the main hand and 1d8+12 in the off-hand before raging or power attacking. Edit: I'm considering dropping Power Attack so that I'll hit more often with all my attacks and confirm threats more often as well. Improved Crit can be retrained if Keen or a Scabbard is found. |

While you could do it with magic items, I find that the risk of losing the item is not worth spending a feat. |

While you could do it with magic items, I find that the risk of losing the item is not worth spending a feat. Sorry, should have noted that the build would need to buy Gloves +2 by 6th and upgrade to Gloves +4 before 12th. And the risk of loss is usually negligible. I'd only have to worry about rolling a 1 on a reflex save or be captured somehow and leave the mod with no GP or items. That last part IMO is worse than getting TPK'd. As you can't use charity of friends unless you die. |
| kegdrainer02-16-07, 11:31 AM | If you still want to get rid of Power Attack, Quick Draw would help so you can 5' and full attack, rather than a single attack. |
| Alpha_Nerd02-16-07, 11:34 AM | You could always push Power Attack to 6th, drop Improved Buckler Defense as it isn't needed if you get an animated shield, or pick up IBD instead of Imp Crit if you get keen weapons, and go Wood Elf instead. Stats you buy: 28 points 16 14 16 10 8 8 Stats you get: 32 Points 18 (16) 16 (10) 14 (6) 8 (0) 8 (0) 8 (0) This lets you bump Dex every level, ending with 19, and not have to rely on items at all. |

You can take charity after any mod in which your wealth is not half of what it should be. And even if you did leave a mod without a dime, how could that be worse than a TPK (permanant death)? I like the build. It's got style. I'd keep power attack in there. Push it back maybe, but keep it in there, it's useful to be able to single wield and power attack through DR if needed. You'll also be glad you took power attack if you ever get access to armbands of might *drool*. Consider ditchingthe buckler and wait for an animated sheild. Keep improved crit, with two weapons, you'll need two scabbards, two keen upgrades, etc. If you're going pure fighter until the last level, cool. If not, move up the barbarian level (5th if not 1st) and consider a level in exotic weapon master for the uncanny blow - you regain the 2 for 1 power attack (though you could see table variation on this). |

And even if you did leave a mod without a dime, how could that be worse than a TPK (permanant death)? I didn't know that about charity of friends. I thought you could only take it if you actually died. I consider it worse because even though your character is still alive, he'll never ever be as powerful as he should be after something like that happens. Take for example a 10th level character that permanently loses all his wealth and items. Would you still play that character, or would you retire him and start a new one? I would do the latter. I like the build. Thanks! It's got style. I'd keep power attack in there. Push it back maybe, but keep it in there, it's useful to be able to single wield and power attack through DR if needed. How would Uncanny Blow work? Doesn't it only work if you use a 1handed exotic weapon in two hands? |
| Alpha_Nerd02-16-07, 12:18 PM | Yeah, but some people read it as two independent statements, allowing you to power attack for a 2 to 1 ratio with an exotic one-handed weapons. |
| LachlarlanIII02-16-07, 12:55 PM | Replaced Power Attack at first with Quick Draw, and Improved Buckler Defense at 6th with Power Attack. |

Unless I'm missing something, you can do it after any mod. It burns 10 TUs, but it feels good to have that safety net there. I'd take the 10th level character that I've thrown 30 months into at half gold. Half gold won't get you a lot, but you can scrape by. I'd probably start a new 1st level too. So answer C) both Improved Buckler Defense is a placeholder feat. If the character ever find access to an Animated shield, IBD can be retrained. I keep forgetting this is possible now. I love the new retraining rules! This feels close to a slight abuse. I think retraining might be one of those paradoxical things that if you rely upon, will not be there, but will exist if you don't count on it. So just keep yourself and everyone you know from abusing it. Use=good abuse=bad How would Uncanny Blow work? Doesn't it only work if you use a 1handed exotic weapon in two hands? I should've clarified this a touch better. It allows you to get double strength damage on a one handed exotic weapon weilded in two hands. This next part's where's where you'll see table variation (50/50 rough guess?); some read the feat to say that while two handing the weapon you still get 2 for 1 damage on power attack. Others read as you always get the 2 for 1, one handed, two handed, three handed, whatever. |

From what I understand, you can't spend TUs from the next year unless some unforseeable or special circumstance happens. IE, you can spend 16 TUs from next year for RHoD if spend the TUs on Meta-Org costs and such, or if an AR says you have to spend 20 TUs and you only have 10 remaining. |
| cycloptic_squirrel02-16-07, 02:34 PM | I want to say that charity of friends can go into next year (feels right), but I can't find any documentation. If worse came to worse, I'd just wait until next year and play as far down as possible with no gold. Worth a shot anyway. |
| LachlarlanIII02-16-07, 02:53 PM | You'll also be glad you took power attack if you ever get access to armbands of might *drool*. I got adventure access to that with my Intelligence fighter... I can't afford them... I really want them... they give a +2 bonus on opposed Str checks.... Now I have to get one of those favors that give you access to one item to which I've ever had access |
