Greetings,

I am betwixt as to which is greater on this question and would like to know your thoughts.

My homebrew party faced an CL 9th party and were given 4500 gold to divide up...

i asked the DM if we could instead use the random tables in the DMG for treasure, goods, and items

My question to you is this: Which do you prefer and why?

Do you prefer a flat a flat rate fee of < x > gold?

or

Do you prefer to roll for a chance, usuually 2 outta 3, of bigger better rewards?

-tactical marshal trying to learn from you the experts :)

Irrelevant; in LG the mod should have already specified what the treasure gained from the encounter would be, and the DM is not permitted to change it.

If by "homebrew", you mean "home campaign that is not Living Greyhawk", then you might be better served by posting in the regular D&D forums...
