| Reska12-20-06, 09:42 PM | My Bright Sands character may be moving from the Bright Sands at the end of the year (or whenever I play Dominion). My question is, if I change regions, say...to the Duchy of Geoff, do I still have access to the Sandstorm Spells I already have? And as an additional: Do I keep the access to the spells I will have (at the next level of spellcasting, that is)? Or would it just be easier to stay Bright Sands till I get all the spellcasting I want, then switch out? --Reska |
| Britt12-20-06, 09:53 PM | I think the rule is that you lose access when you change regions, but I will check. |
| Reska12-20-06, 10:23 PM | Yes, but the question is, which access? The Access I started with? Or the Access I might gain? |
| Britt12-20-06, 10:24 PM | Once you've taken something, you get to keep it. Something like a cleric or druid that doesn't really "take" anything would be the only one that wouldn't be able to keep using the same stuff. |
| Reska12-20-06, 10:32 PM | Thus my problem....I'm a druid. Wasteland Druid, in fact...with a Dire Tortoise and everything. Guess I'm staying in Bright Lands then. Eh, 1 more TU per mod doesn't bother me too much. |
| Reska12-22-06, 07:04 PM | To continue on with this line of questioning, a new one popped into my head. Say I gain access to Scribe Scroll (which I will when I take my first level of Wizard). I scribe one scroll for each of the Sandstorm spells I currently have access to as a Druid. Now, lets say I change regions (which as Britt says, means I lose my Sandstorm Access). Does having the scrolls already made still give me "access" to cast the spells as a druid? Or am I still sans access? --Reska |

Purchasing (or in this case creating) scrolls, grant access to the spell. You can even sell the scrolls back, without loosing the access. |
| awroe12-25-06, 01:21 PM | A follow-up question. If I scribe arcane versions of Sandstorm spells (or have these in my spellbook), does that give me access to the divine version of these spells too if I were to leave the region? AW. |
| haferka12-25-06, 02:49 PM | yes, divine/arcane.. does not matter. you still have access to the spell. so, if you find a spellbook with a cool limited cleric/wizard spell.. your cleric could purchase the book, then sell it back to gain access to the spell. |

My Asherati wouldn't be able to replace any lost Eagle Claws if he changed home regions. |

| haferka12-28-06, 11:11 AM | Spelcasters actually have an advantage in this area... they have the option to purchase scrolls before changing regions.. thus retaining the spell access, but melee weapon access will disapear when all the players weapons are destroyed. I would encourage you to make the eagle claw(s) +1 before changing regions. Then if they are destoyed, pick up the pieces. There are rules for repairing magic items... but there is always the chance that the weapon will be destroyed beyond repair. (Disintegrate, lost in a lavaflow, etc...) |

(Disintegrate, lost in a lavaflow, etc...) spellcasters can only buy spells on scrolls from the PHB and with AR access, even bright desert characters can't buy all the nice spells on scrolls :( ok, they can scribe scrolls but that needs a feat and can become somehow expensive. ciao martin m. |

OK, I was unaware of that. The circle could fix this whole mess rather simply... Update the AR for "Blood on Bright sands" to include access to ALL the rule items allowed for these characters. When the last oportunity to play "blood on bright sands" has passed there will no longer be an oportunity for PCs to create characters of that region. This will also remove the need to maintain the campaign document for the bright sands arc. |
