04-03-07, 12:29 PM I would tenuously say that since a shield can be used as a weapon, use the weapon price for adamantine shields. But that's not an official ruling by any means.

Now, if only there was vibranium and a way to mix it with adamantine, you could have Captain America's shield. :)

04-03-07, 10:25 PM They may have assumed that few people would fork out for one, since adamantine shields don't offer any particular benefit (unless you're using them as a weapon or a tool.)

04-03-07, 10:52 PM Sure they do. If I've got an expensive shield with lots of enhancements on it, I don't want it sundered easily ;-) Adamantine makes it a lot harder to sunder =)

Captain America's shield is an accidental alloy of vibranium and steel. Adamantium is the result of later attempts to recreate this alloy. :P

No DR never stack... (if you have an armor in adamantine) but if you dont ... ... and the price is like the light armor ... ... i'd put a DR1/- .

But I shouldn't have tried to answer since I realise I don't know excactly...

04-04-07, 09:01 AM Doesn't it provide extra DR?Not according to the FAQ...An adamantine shield costs an extra 5,000 gp (the same as the extra cost for adamantine light armor). Adamantine armor gives you some damage reduction (how much depends on the kind of armor; see page 283 in the Dungeon Master’s Guide) but an adamantine shield does not. An adamantine shield is always a masterwork shield, so its armor check penalty is reduced by 1 (–0 for a buckler or light shield, –1 for a heavy shield). An adamantine shield also has a hardness of 20 and one third more hit points than normal (6 for a buckler, 13 for a light shield, 26 for a heavy shield). A tower shield is made from wood, so you can’t make one from adamantine.

... ahh.. I was trying not to buy any comics.. but with that one statement.. I must now go investigate the local comic shop.

04-05-07, 05:42 PM To be specifically geeky, Cap's shield was vibranium alloyed with an "experimental steel alloy", made possible by an unknown catalyst entering the mix accidentally. Subsequent attempts to re-create the accident have generally failed.

It was not Adamantium because that metal had not yet made an appearance - in the official time line, adamantium was not discovered until after Cap was revived from frozen suspended animation, decades after his shield was originally created.

As for Castle using the shield, I don't think so - the teaser image (http://bp0.blogger.com/_LVMU5SPFd9c/RgwT0O4ei7I/AAAAAAAAAFk/bieU5VxsdWo/s1600-h/CaptainPunisher.jpg) does not show him with it.

As a US citizen, I am deeply embarassed thought anyone thinks that The Punisher is a reasonable embodyment of the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of America in this day and age. Doubly so (pun absolutely intended!), because it is so obviously true, now that I've thought about it.
