This is incomplete and misleading. We should change it to something like this:

They gain 1 feat per 3 hit dice as anyone else. These feats can be select from the PHB, from the MM or from the indicated list of feats in the "NPC Only" table of the section on Feats, page 25.

(Gah. Awkward wording. Please fix.)

02-03-06, 05:19 PM Familiars come with the feats listed in the Monster Manual for their race (ie bats have Alertness).

Some people have access to familiars with a) enough hit dice to allow more than one feat and b) no discernable feats for their race which allows a player to "build" their familiar, giving them feats and skills as they see fit.

02-03-06, 11:49 PM I don't have a monk and have no intention of making one, but does anyone know why Improved Natural Attack is NPC-only when the FAQ specifically says that Monks can take it?

02-03-06, 11:53 PM Probably because it's easier to say that it's NPC-only but allow monks to take it than it is to list it as Limited and let it slip through the cracks somewhere.
